Can't afford a music rhythm-game with instrument peripherals? Fret (excuse the pun!) not, there are several air instrument versions available for Wii where you only use the Wii remote and nunchuck to play. Ultimate Band is definitely the best of the current crop in the bargain bin, and especially at this lovely budget price too! Slickly presented, colorful cartoony graphics and a rather nice selections of tunes to enjoy (although mostly covers, but good quality covers at least) combine with controls that are easy to pick up (admittingly I never tried it on the Hard-setting) and, especially in the case of the drums, actually make you feel like you're playing an instrument (with a bit of imagination as well).

We are a family of 2 sixty-somethings and 2 twenty-somethings, and we bought this to play when the family are all at home together.We had never tried a 'Guitar Hero' style game and thought we'd give this a go due to its low price.It is really, really good fun, and takes no time at all to learn the different ways of playing the instruments. There are different difficulty levels, and the advanced mode takes real concetration to perfect. Using the Wii remote and not having to learn how to use new handsets is a big plus.Drumming is great fun and makes you build up quite a sweat, and the lead and bass guitar playing require real rhythm and speed at higher levels. Just received this game and been testing it out for a bit now, I think it is a great game, quite difficult to understand what you have to do with what in the beginning but the instruction manual helps !!! You can customise your band with names and clothing and purchase new items in the shop, I think it's more of a kiddy version of guitar hero in the sense of the way it looks and that may possibly be because it was created by Disney! The remote when you are playing the game to select a menu seems to be slower and not fully synced on this game, but when playing the actual songs it seems to pick it up fine.

This game was 100% better than guitar hero for the playstation.The choice of instruments you could play was good and once you knew how to play them with the directions it was easy. The choice of music was also very good, you get the songs stuck in your head they are very addictive. The only disappointment i did have was on the singers role it wasnt what i thought it would be as no singing is involved just holding the mike. Other than that a great game fun had by all.

I brought this for the kids (aged 10 & 13) and they think its fab.I asked them for a score out of 5 and they said 5 & 6!!The playing is fun, the story cool for kids (and fun too) and the scope is great - 4 different instruments wth different styles of play (including lead singer). its also fun to watch and they love earning the new venues and updating the bands outfits etc,.Not played it myself, but its kept the kids entertained, so a thumbs up!

I bought this for my children aged 9 and 7 and they think it's great! My eldest said it was the best game we have and my youngest gave it an encouraging 4 out of 5. Once I'd gone over the rules with them a couple of times they were away and able to get very good scores straight away although this was on the easiest level. Good entertainment and excellent value for money.

This game completely surprised me. My 4 year old loves it. Fancies himself as some what of a rock star now he's opened up some of the more rockier songs like My Generation, Fell In Love With A Girl and my favourite, Debaser. I just wish that you could rock against rock and roll bad guys like Marilyn Manson, Gary Glitter or Sinead O'Conner

Bought this due to low price, not expecting much. It is actually quite a good laugh using the wii remote and nun chuc together as you do almost exactly the same as on the very highly priced Guitar Hero. I think it is a good idea to try this game before parting with your well earned cash on the bigger game.

Much more for a kid than adult, but still loads of fun. Good songs used and pretty nice graphics. The only cons is clapping move which is not read very often from the controllers. Anyway, I'd still say everyone should give it a try, you may find it really relaxing :)

very cool game with some good tunes, just make sure you do the tutorial before you start to play otherwise you have no idea what is going on! had lots of fun with my friends

good solid game, would recommend that you follow the tutorial before playing though and some on the note movements are not obvious if you go straight into the game...

my kids love it............................ cheap and cheerful. I even had a go myself...... would totally recommend this game to anybody. try it and see!!!!!!!!
