It's pretty good actually. I wasn't hopeful our cat would ever want to scratch anything other than her favourite sofa arm or the carpet on the stairs. However she does now scratch this post. It's weight and dimensions means it's sturdy enough for her to stretch out on it and pull without it wobbling or toppling, which I think might have been what put her off our previous smaller scratching post. It's not too ugly to look at but of course the size does make it quite prominent within a room. I don't suppose that can be helped though. It also sheds slightly but still a small price o pay if it saves our furniture. It took a few weeks for our cat to touch it.We placed it in front of the arm of the sofa where she usually likes to scratch, so if nothing else, at least it was blocking it so she couldn't do any further damage. She continued to scratch the opposite sofa and the stair carpet until one day when I was playing with her with a toy on a string. As I dragged it over the scratching post, her claws got caught and I think that's when she saw the possibilities for using it for a good stretch and scratch. Later that day I heard the usual dreaded sound of her tearing up something with her claws. I looked over and was delighted to see it was the post she was shredding! She now uses it a couple of times a day and leaves the sofa alone. She still scratches the stairs carpet as well so it's not a perfect solution, but it's a definite improvement. Our cat hasn't bothered with the toys in the holes at all but they're a thoughtful addition, which perhaps a kitten might appreciate. Overall a good buy and worth a shot if your cat has ignored smaller scratching posts in the past.

I am sitting here watching my cat, Winston, perch on top of his scratching column. He has finishing lying on top it, legs akimbo, trying to kill it whilst spinning 360º like a dervish and is now perching loftily surveying the world like the he is king of the world. He absolutely loves this scratch post, and therefore so do I.I brought this post a few days after we acquired Winston. I was a little sceptical because I've had scratch posts in the past and my cats just turned there nose up at them. Maybe it was because Winston was new to the house and so he took to it, I don't know, but he plays with it at least 4 times a day and even better uses it for what it is designed for - to scratch his claws - no more torn up wallpaper, sofa etc.The height it great because it allows him to stretch right up and the little toys in the holes at the side are a bonus, he plays with them now and then but his favourite past time (aside from presenting me with his latest mouse catch) is sitting on top or stretching himself up high against it and exercising his claws. The large base means it is very stable and the colour is neutral enough to fit in anywhere.I am so pleased with this item that I have been prompted to pick up my PC and review it, even though my purchase was several months ago. It is well worth every penny - I'd recommend it to anyone.

I looked at various scratching posts as my old one was on its last legs after many many years of use. I choose this one because it was tall and had the extra benefit of 2 squeeky fake fur covered balls and one mouse that dangle in each of their round windows which are on one side of the cat scratcher that is covered in the same fake fur. The other 3 sides provide the scratching area. As stated, this scratcing post is nice and tall, which my cats absolutely love as their previous one was a small one. They love being able to stretch up high to scratch and also trying to catch the mouse and/or little squeeky balls which are attached inside the scratcher and allow the toy to swing in and out oftheir little round window and therefore allow the cats to catch them and pull them out slightly before retracting back inside the post. I did initially question spending this much on a cat scratcher but can truly say that I am delighted and the cats are extremely happy. Needless to say and most important, the furniture hasn't been touched since buying this excellent cat scratcher. Last of all, this item is well made and was deivered very very quickly. I would have no hesitation ordering from this seller again.

It takes my cat a couple of months to get used to anything new in the house, this included. But once she realised what it is for she absolutely loves it. It took her another couple of months to get the hang of the fact that it also has fun things on bits of elastic in holes that one can play with, but likewise once she got the hang of them she couldn't keep away. The best this is the size and studyness of post though. It's big enough for a full grown cat to actually properly stretch on it, which is what cats need. It also has proper sisal matting on the sides, rather than the string that is wrapped round and round some posts which cats tend not to like to much as it pulls unevenly at the claws. Its big enough for her to climb and when she is having her mad ten minutes she takes a running jump and scrambles up to the top and hangs there for a bit - importantly she can do this without it falling over. A year later this is still a firm favorite so if you are looking for something to help you cat keep her claws trip, to stretch on, and to have fun with to boot, this is just the ticket. It is also one of the cheaper ones in this size I noticed.

I bought this recently (perhaps about 6 weeks ago. I have two 10 month old Bengals who love it, especially the little squeaky mice thingy's in the holes, and as like most cats they love to put their paws into holes. It's also tall enough for the babes to really stretch up and scratch and the top is big enough (just) for either of them to sit on whilst sticking their paws into the holes. It's relatively stable, but if the heavier boy takes a running jump at it, the base raises up from the floor. I would have given this perhaps 5 stars, but just recently I've noticed that they are managing to scratch through the rope and this is producing 'sawdust' all over the base and floor, clearly a sign of a very poor quality inner material (which I presume is some kind of MDF), so not completely Bengal proof, but still provides lots of fun.One further thing, although the post is quite tall, the photograph of scratching post and cat is somewhat out of perspective, unless the cat is a small kitten - when my Bengals stretch up they reach the top, so too do two of my other cats who aren't especially big cats.

It arrived a few days after and was easily assembled. This is fantastic scratch post indeed. its tall and even the bigger cats wont have a problem here like mine is. There's enough space for the cat to jump up and sit at the top. How do cats know these things? This scratching post has some included annoying—chirp noise making—toys fitted into the two holes you see in the picture, so if your cat like going at these at all hours, make sure you cant hear it. Well my fault really as he pays no attention to these, but a tied a piece of string to one of them.... So the Cat goes after the string and triggers the toy.If your cat is like mine,he thinks these toys are just boring and rather entertain themselves with a piece of cheap string or a cable tie or a drinking straw that fell to the floor rather than these or any other overly designed toys, but for sure hell enjoy scratching at this post with a satisfactory victory walk after the altercation, smiley face.

Would have given it 5 stars if I felt the price matched the quality. After a few weeks it is already showing some signs of wear, whereas the cheaper one I had before lasted a few years. However, my cat loves it. It is tall enough for him to stretch right up on it. Hence I have only seen him stretching up and scratching the legs of the dining room table once since he has had it and I think it was only to get my attention. I kept the old one for a while because I was afraid he might not take to it, but in a very short time he was scratching the new post exclusively and I felt comfortable throwing the old one out. He also does like the mouse and sticks his front legs in the hole to try to get it right up to the joint.Don't know how long that mouse will last though. Another positive is that I don't have to anchor it down with a chair of sofa leg like the last one which would topple over if not anchored.

We bought this post once our male cat outgrew his old one :) He immediately loved it! We had a narrow space to use it in, so it took us a while to find an appropriate one. This post is pretty perfect for our Merlot, as he love heights and is always climbing on it while trying to play with the incorporated mice. The only thing I'd change about it is adding some sort of platform on its peak. As it's surface is quite small (the same area as the post itself), cats can only stand on it, while I'm sure Merlot would love to be able to curl and remain on top for longer than a few mins.Apart from that, we have no complaint, it's robust and quite stable (he only managed to knock it down when attacking it full speed,so a little bit intentional ;) ). It's also quite easy to keep clean, as the fluffly area is easy to hover over.Definitely a good buy with a very good price/quality balance.

My cat soon discovered this toy, and really enjoys it. Trying to pull the squeaky mice out of their holes, and making full use of the scratching post. This is a great cat toy, it's big and heavy, and therefore can take the punishment a cat can throw at it without scooting around the floor or falling over. The actual scratching surfaces are much more robust than the usual wrapped rope that you get on these things, our last rope post lasted about 2 weeks before being shredded, this really stands up to some abuse, and a month after purchase and it's looking as good as it did on day one.The height of it, gives my cat plenty of room to stretch out and have a real good scratch, which is something that other posts fail on.I'm really pleased with this purchase, as is my cat.It may be a little pricey, but you won't be replacing it in 6 months.

My cat LOVES this scratch post. He's been through quite a few in the last couple of years but this definitely seems to be his favourite. So much so that he's completely stopped using our furniture to sharpen his claws. The 3 toys contained within the post seem to be of particular interest and he loves attacking those. Especially the balls as they squeak with the slightest movement. I also like the fact the post is covered in 2 different materials (soft carpet and coarse cord) and that's probably why our carpets are safer these days! At 80cm it's also tall enough for him to stretch right out and he likes to sit on top of it too.The post seems quite well made and is holding up well considering the hammering it's been getting.I'd highly recommend this scratch post to all cat owners. At around £30 it's a bargain!

This arrived a couple days ago and it was quite easy to put together (everything comes in the box). It's tall enough for any cat to scratch, but definitely tall enough for my kitten. It has a nice enough finish though I'd prefer it all to be rope rather than part fabric and isn't tacky looking. It's teetered a little when she's done a run and jump but hasn't toppled over as of yet and she's been at it a good while. She loves the little toys in the peek holes - especially the two which squeak (what a nice surprise!). She scratched on it immediately.Overall, think it's a good product. I'd love it if they made taller ones with little places for cats to sit in. It's hard to find simple, narrow cat scratch posts which don't have too many sticky outy bits. Would definitely recommend.

I've got this in 2010, and my cat LOVED IT so much that I need to get a replacement. Its still standing strong however its been worn down from all the scratching. I remember I was extremely pleased with the product and to be honest after 2 years I am still very pleased hence why I'm getting the same product again. I would highly recommend it for an indoor cat this helped release the excess energy my cat had build up in her and immediately she stopped scratching our sofa's which was a bonus especially after buying her many scratching posts this seemed to be the only one long enough for her height most of the other products are quite short and she's a big cat so she doesn't get to fully stretch but this really does the job.I am so glad I came across it back then. Worth every pound!

Our cat totally loves this, like someone else said its nice and tall so she gets a good stretch as well as a scratch and she loves to perch on the top. But mostly she loves it for the play value she goes nuts attacking the balls and mouse (which squeek) and gets hers paws inside batting them about, she does the same thing the cat in the picture is doing, also she lies on the soft base, curls herself round the post getting her claws into the corners of the post then spin/claws her way round and round the post swiping at the mouse on her way past, its vry funny to watch.I love the post as i think it looks great, its far more plush looking than the picture shows, its good and sturdy and despite its height it is unobtrusive in the living room.

When we first got this I was concerned that the cats wouldn't use it. The male cat (7 years old) fell in love with it after I'd sprayed it a couple of times with catnip. The female cat (15 years old) really couldn't be bothered (she prefered to ruin the stair carpet). After 8 months both cats love it and my stair carpet looks like it might last a few more years. The scratching post does look 'ratty' and torn but I think that's why the female cat actually started to use it. My only complaint is that the base is made of chipboard and the screws holding the post have broken through the chipboard. My husband repaired it with a couple of big washers, but it really is a matter of time before it breaks and can't be fixed.

We bought this for our two new kittens. At first, one of the kittens was a little apprehensive, but he took to it after a couple of days. This is a giant scratching post and not something that can be easily hidden in the corner of the room. It's incredibly sturdy which has been proven as both kittens are very playful and regularly scramble up the post to sit on top to attack the mouse and ball. Because of it's size they will never outgrow it, and in fact we're going to buy a second one for upstairs.I would highly recommend this over the smaller scratching posts, as regardless of how boisterous your cats are, this post will withstand the abuse and it's also tall enough for cats to scratch when they get bigger.
