These are nicely-made wall lights which are designed to be permanently fixed to the wall but connect to the electricity supply by a mains lead and plug. I bought a pair, to have one on either side of the bed. They don't come 'handed' and the on/off switches for each of the 2 lights are located on the right-hand side of the fitting, so whilst it will be OK for the person who sleeps on the left (facing the headboard) the other person will struggle to reach the switches from a seated position in the bed. One solution to this might be to have the cord fitted with a separate on/off switch.
