This game absolutely rocks! I had to give it only four stars because all of the other reviews gave it five and while it is excellent, it does still have some flaws. The Good! - Can you say multiplayer mayhem! The multiplayer mayhem is intense. With tons of modes to play from the traditional deathmatch and capture the flag to the not so traditional shrink (size based on standing - lower=smaller) and monkey assist (a group of monkeys come down and help the person in last place). The variety of multiplayer levels, weapons, and characters will keep you coming back for more. The Arcade and Challenge modes are good as well. This is where you will do most of the multiplayer unlocking. These modes work with the multiplayer (and some single player) levels and have you complete various objectives (save the dam from the bouncing bomb filled monkeys, complete the level without being spotted, you and a bot assistant must infiltrate the enemy bunker, etc). Good fun for everyone, and a challenge to boot. You've never had so much fun unlocking stuff! The single player game is good as well. The story is fun and it puts you in different time frames with different styles of gameplay, from stealth in the siberian dam and Neo-Tokyo levels, to an all out time rushed frenzy in Nuclear reactor and space station levels, to strategy and patience in the robot factory. My ultimate favorite - Co-op Story Mode rocks!!!The Bad! - So many of the single player levels could have been dons so much better! The demo disks that were floating around gave you a taste of the first level (Siberian Dam). It was definitely an ode to GoldenEye. However, that was the best level by far, and i felt a little cheated when many of the other single player levels did not live up to that first one. Also, much of the storyline left you wondering, "How does this level have anything to do with the overarching story?"The Level Editor was a major disappointment. It was kind of fun and had some definite pluses. However, the miniscule size that the levels were allowed to have and the lack of ability to connect the levels together to create a bigger level really limited things. The controls take a bit to get used to. This is one of the areas where Halo fans tend to get a little frustrated. On primary view, there is no crosshair. If you switch to aim view there is a crosshair, but also a soft spot in the center. It's very logical in that the main view is like shooting from the hip while the aim view is like using the gun's sights. It can be a bit frustrating at times if you are used to having the crosshairs, but after playing it for a bit you get used to it and it feels rather natural. No jumping! This also tends to be a point of contention for the Halo and UT fans. In TS2 there is no need for jumping and to avoid the rabbit effect (people bouncing around all over the place to avoid being shot in multiplayer looking like stupid rabbits) FreeRadical made a decision not to include it purposefully. Of course some would consider this a point for the good list. The difficult level is extremely difficult. This can be both good and bad because while it makes you strive for perfection and grow as a gamer, it can also be insanely frustrating... especially if you are going for that highly coveted 100% completion. Then again, no one got anywhere by not being challenged. The Ugly! - No online play!!! With promise after promise of online multiplayer mayhem by both FreeRadical and Eidos, the anouncement only weeks before shipping that the online play was going to be scrapped made many fans angry to no end. The release date had been moved back six months for adaptation to a multiplatform release and for online play preparation then the loss of one of the most important aspects of the game brought a great deal of frustration.Overall, the good definitely, and by far, outweighs the bad and ugly, but the game is not perfect. Trust me everyone. This is a game worth owning. I bought it the first day that it came out, and even almost a year later i'm still playing the multi-player rather regularly with my friends. I would rate this game as a 9.5 out of 10. It's excelent (unlike my spelling), but not perfect.

The first timesplitters was released on the launch date of the ps2 and still remains to be one of the best multiplayer games yet. Although we have to face the facts, the game wasn't as good as goldeneye. The single player mode felt rushed and had very little variety. Most people admit they played the game just for it's fantastic multiplayer action. Now timesplitter's 2 is out, and it's every bit as good as you expected and better!Firstly the single player has been upgraded dramatically, and now there are more level's each one unique in their own way.The levels range from 1853 'wild west' to 2315 'robot factory'.Not only are the levels different, the goals themselves have also been changed. In the previous game the objective was simple:collect an object and return it to the beggining of the level. This was one of the main reasons i was soon returning the game to a second hand shop! Now the levels work by using multiple objectives, and to add extra variety some of the levels contain secondary objectives. Although you do not have to complete these secondary objectives, there is an immense feeling of satisfaction if you do complete them. The objectives themselves differ in the levels. In the neo tokyo level you must trail a hacker back to her base, great for mgs fans! While on the atomsmasher level you will find yourself disarming bombs in an evil villians base. All objectives are great fun and you will find yourself replaying levels over and over again. The latest addition to the single player also includes cutscenes. The cutscenes look great and introduce some of the craziest characters to the game. Single player is both amusing and classy. Now you all want to know about the multiplayer and i wont dissapoint you. It's back and is also better than ever! With 16 different game modes, 12 different maps and 90 crazy characters to unlock you will find endless replay value in multiplayer.A new addition to the multiplayer is 'arcade league'. This allows you to complete multiplayer levels against bots unreal tournament style! Completing levels with high scores will unlock new characters and maps. Like i said masses of replay value.Other features include the return of the challenge mode. This time it's much harder but even more rewarding. And yes there are monkeying around mini games! There are also secrets to be found in the game including game cartiridges!Overall everything has been improved graphics, gameplay, sound, and replay value! Trust me you will lose nights of sleep!Buy or rent?A tough one, some people will dislike the cartoonish look of timesplitters 2, and may prefer gritty realsim like in 'medal of honour'. But you really should give it a chance and rent it.However if you played and enjoyed the first one, dont heasitate just buy this amazing game.

Too fun to be true. This is a game which was custom made for simple enjoyment, no gritiness needed, no pretentious story line, just a gun in your hand and lots of garish enemies to shoot with it. Sublime. The idea of a time travelling FPS was in my opinion pure genius. It opened open so many possibilities, which suddenly seem reasonable in their context. Taking on wave after wave of zombies in a crypt and next thing shooting down flying saucers over an alien plenet. The wealth of charecters and locations are great but superficial, the real treat is the variety of weapons at your disposal, crossbows you can light on torches and at the other extreme laserguns which can emmit protective sheildsin front of you.Although the single player story mode is entertaining (the Goldeneye tribute Dam level, being in my mind the highpoint) the finest point of timesplitters 2 has to be the multiplayer (arcade) mode. The real secret of this game has to be the classic control system and fluid gameplay, which opens the door for some unrivalled friends vs friends action, leading teams of AI fighters, a duel between two players amidst the chaos becomes a showdown. Frantic strafing and blasting ensues, comiserations and the bragging rights result. As with any Timesplitters game a multitab, three friends, some drinks and snacks are the must have accessories. The mapmaker further ensures that this is a game which won't wear off any time soon. When inspiration lands mapmaker levels can become part of the games' fabric and you'll return to your finest acheivements again and again. I would say however that in TS2's case mapmaker is best used for arcade mode, as a limit on ten AI opponents severely limits the scope for homemade story levels (one of the few things Future Perfect has up on its predecesor).Anyone who loves a good shooter and has a PS2 needs this, urgently. Do yourselves a favour, buy it.

I purchased Timesplitters 2 several years ago when it was new out, without playing the first and not being experienced with first person shooter games. It was the basic idea of time travel through the ages that attracted me and it did not dissapoint.Timesplitters 2 is an exciting, intense and long lasting game. There are so many diffrent modes to keep you occupied for hours on end.The story mode offers not only exciting but intelligent gameplay, with fantasticly original objectives which require you to think about yourself. The range of weapons never ceases to amaze you with each level as surprisingly unique as the next. The oher impressive thing about story mode is once completed easy, normal introduces not only better computer baddies but new and different objectives.Once you've been done with story mode for a while, challenge mode is open for your enjoyment, my favourite part of the game. As you complete more of a wide array of challenges, you unlock new levels, weapons and best of all characters - more than a 100.You reap the rewards if you work on this game as it gives you more choice when playing with mates. You will never get bored of playing with your mates as there are so many different game modes to pit your wits against each other.I have never stopped loving this game and it is a great game to mess about on with your mates, as a team or against, it is great. Some downsiders are that once completed easy normal is difficult, and you can find yourslef in dead ends almost when trying to work out what to do next in story mode, but these are almsot negligable compared to the fun and enjoyment this game has to offer.A must for any gamer.

Quick review - five stars. You want more? Ok.Really smooth graphics. Almost too smooth! No motion "jitter" when running. But that's a tiny complaint against such effortless on-screen wonderment.Controls. Nice. You can control it. Sounds obvious? Judging by some other games, it's not. This one works well so top marks again.Bots. They're really rather good. Some are quite active too. All sorts too, from humans through zombies to droids. Then smart guns (remember Alien 2 special edition?), floating bombs, all sorts. And monkeys! Got to be worth five stars just for them!Look & feel. Cartoon-like violence. Takes the "reality bites" edge off things like the Clancy games and just makes it fun fun fun!Story mode. This is probably the weakest single aspect, but don't let that put you off. It's still entertaining and, while you can complete it in a couple of nights hard gaming (especially on "easy"), it's engrossing. Gothic cathedrals, ancient ruins, space stations, all over the place. Probably four stars here - with another four or five levels it would be top.Other modes. Arcade, challenge on single player are just wonderful. How long can you keep your chap alive against ever-increasing hordes of zombies, with just a 12 bore to keep them at bay? Loads more twists on the theme and lots of different modes keep the interest up.Multiplayer. Saved the best for last. It's just awesome. Slick and responsive, it's the best aspect of the game. But don't let this put you off if you only play solo - that's mostly how I do too and I still love it. When you do play multi it's great though.Love those monkeys!

I remeber seeing TimeSplitters 2 in development on the T.V. show'Cybernet' back in October 2001, from right then on, I knew I had to get it.Skip to Christmas 2002. I have just recieved a PlayStation 2 for Christmas from my parents, and TimeSplitters 2.First thing - WOW!!!! The grpahics in this game are amazing!Superbly smooth and well done, with no let-down voice acting neither. The year is 2401, and on a space station on the edges of our galaxy, the evil alien species known only as the TimeSplitters have infested and killed everyone onboard. Two people are chosen for a special mission, Sergeant Cortez, and Corporal Hart. They arrive at the station too late - the TimeSplitters have activated a portal into our past.Sergrant Cortez jumps through to follow them.Nice story. You take the role of Cortez as he battles through different eras in time. The first mission sees you at the Oblask Dam in Siberia, where scientists there have discovered a TimeSplitter crystal, and are attempting to create the ultimate weapon. From then on, you move onto 60's Chicargo, and from there, into the past, present, and future to stop the TimeSplitters. Now, the single player mode works fine as a brilliant game in its own right, but the multiplayer is also the best I have ever played. There are a good range of characters, (100+), and the levels together with the level editor are inventive.TimeSplitters 2 is still my favourite game, and believe me, I've built up quite a collection since getting it, and I thing it is the best game EVER!

This game is damn good. It has an amazing selection of characters and really cool scenery. Timesplitters 2 is a multiplayer first person shooter game, about time travel.GAMEPLAY- the graphics are smooth and realistic (as far as cartoon style games go) and it's not hard to get used to the controls. There are no crosshairs on this game, which makes it hard, but there is an option to put auto aim on (which basically means that if you are aiming somewhere near the enemy, you will hit them.STORY- Like I said before, the characters are made with a sort of cartoon style, which also affects the story. The story is slightly cartoon like, but is still playable and interesting. The story is following on from Timesplitters, and you wouldn't understand some of it without having played it, but it's still enjoyable.SCENERY- The scenery is not cartoony, like the characters are, but much more realistic. There is variety of different locations from many time periods. There is also a change in the layouts of different levels, e.g. open space arena, mazes, and complexes.GAME MODES- There is three general game modes. Challenge, arcade and story. Story has been explained earlier, it is simpler to James Bond and Red Faction levels. Arcade is either custom, or league. Custom allows you to choose game styles like death match, capture the bag etc, and league is predefined games set up so you can unlock rewards. Challenge is mini games set up to unlock more awards, but in little games like smash 30 windows in this time limit, for example.

TimeSplitters 2 combines 2 things:getting/making/getting scared by freaks and blowing their stupid heads off! 100 characters! Zombies! a massive ogre thing that shoots eye lasers at you!(all in one level.ONE LEVEL!)Yes notre dame holds you fighting a'daemon' I think. But who cares? Everything is so well put up,so that the best characters(Gretel II,Harry Tipper,Sgt Cortez) are playable story characters while lovable goodies like corp.hart get killed (*sniff, waaaah!*) it has unthinkably good multiplayer and it has monkeys.Although in splitters 3 there are different types of monkey you should care its a flipping monkey! Also,it has compiled such an un-epic story that will leave you in stitches.(did anyone tell THEM you cant punch stone golems??)people have biled it a weak story-line.I beg to differ because I found the multiple choices and extra mission on harder difficulties gue innovative. But if you Innovation, try the mapmaker. The first of its kind, just line up the coloured edges and throw a few objects as well as tiles and KA-POOF! a whole new level to try out! amazing,eh? With over 100 playable characters,9 time-travelling episodes and hareder, multiple choice missions on the higher difficulties,TimeSplitters 2 offers the most innovative and flawless game design there is.Remember FPS purists, your collection isnt even begun without splitters 2.

Timesplitters 2 is a game that doesn't have much of a story line but it takes you accross many periods in time to do battle with evil forces in the story mode with my favourite being the wild west, but enough of that this game shines in its multilayer, the bots are very good and there's a huge selection of weapons and a very simple but flexible mapmaker which allows you to create your own levels It also has loads of multiplayer modes from normal deathmatch and team deatchmatch to flametag which has one person running around on fire with their health decreasing and they have to pass the flame on by touching someone else and loads more,There are also loads of characters cowboys to soldiers and more ludicrous ones such as floating snowmen and circus to a fishbowl (complete with fish) headed robot. In single player mode you have the normal story mode which is good butthere is much more fun to be had in the extra challenge and arcade league modes which set you funny and stupid challenges such as throwing bricks through a set amount of windows in the allotted time ,ost of these challenges are very fun and allow you to unlock more modes, characters and levels for use in multiplayer. This is certainly my most favourite Multiplayer FPS and even those who hate FPS's love this and those who love FPS's love it even more.

Having got bored with all the vast open-world adventures currently available (can't anyone think of making anything else these days?) I thought back to one of my favourite games of all times - and picked it up together with a used PS2 and a HDTV-compatible convertor for less than the cost of a new PS4 game.Happily, Timesplitters 2 is everything I remembered it to be. A game that constantly rewards you. A game full of clever ideas, fun and imagination. A game that never gets boring or repetitive. A game that's challenging without being impossible. A game that gives you a fair chance of unlocking everything. A game that's enjoyable. In a only short hour's play today,I played as a 1970s James Bond pastiche trying (and failing) to thwart an evil mastermind from blowing up the world; got my best-ever score in a frantic war between robots in an ice-bound arena; got my best-ever score while punching off the heads of zombies trapped in a glass-walled room; got a gold medal in a three-man shootout in a 1930s Chicago nightclub; and got a platinum award taking down gingerbread men with a minigun in a Chinese restaurant. And I can remember spending a similar amount of time in RDR2 simply getting from point A to point B before actually doing anything. They don't make games like this anymore - which is a huge shame.

I could go on about how fantastic the smooth, clear and highly dynamic graphics are, how good the gameplay is, how nicely the story fits together, what a great sound track it has but the thing which struck me mosrt about this game is its depth. There is a huge amount of stuff here. Each format and game style would be quite happy living in its on separate game title available at all good game shops but in TS2, they've bought them all together under one roof. An extrodinary range of weapons, characters, scenes, playing styles for both single and multiplayer - I'm an experienced first-person shoot em up (I'm so old I remember getting excited over 3D Wolfenstein when it was first out!)and this far surpasses anything I've seen before. It will keep you occupied for months, especially since you get gradings for each level / game / challenge and constantly revisit them to obtain that elusive gold rating! The only complaint I would have is that the story mode requires you to progress through a substantial amount of playing without the ability to save meaning it's very difficult to just dip in and out of - if you want to get through an entire level without dying and thus starting right back at the beginning (which you certainly won't first or even 5th time round) you need to allow at least an hour or so.

Fans of Timesplitters will know that the game was a revolutionary achievement for console shooters, normally PCs have the best ones, but Timesplitters had the capacity to challenege them because of its comedy characters, lighting fast gameplay and great graphics. It had the best multiplayer game of any to date and the only niggle was its solo player mode, it was plain boring, just grabbing items and returning to the beginning of the level. Timesplitters 2 has improved so much from the first one that each of its modes deserve their own rewards, its solo player is a much greater challenge, set in big levels and players are given objectives and a nich FMV to get them in the mood, its multiplayer mode is the highest anticipated feature of it, because of the wide range of weaponry on offer and the chance to link upto 8 ps2s ad kill your mates, also if you fancy playing the fcomputer the AI of enemies is much greater. As if that wasnt enough theres a great mapmaker mode in which you can design your own solo players levels with your own enemies, objectives and weapons to decide to include. Overall this promises to be one of the great console shooters ever, it beats Goldeneye from the N64 hands down....A must have

Barcode: 5032921017046Of all the games i've ever bought, i'd say Timesplitters 2 is the one i have been drawn back to again and again the most. Their is something so ultimately addictive and fun to it that it just defies explantion. The single player/story mode alone is awesome - just that right difficulty that when you complete something it feels like a great achievement. The graphics are awesome and still stand up to this day, the cartoony characters brilliantly humourous and serving as a perfectcompliment to the fun feel of the arcade/two player game.Where to start on this part? You just dive straight in and start shooting - and it never gets boring. There's such a great variety of levels,game-types and weapons you can go on for hours. My personal fave is where the only weapon is the remote mine and everyone is a monkey. The controls are so easy to learn and the gameplay is lightning slick.Seriously, this game is just so good. A great way to just while away a lazy rainy afternoon while listening to music is just to go on here and boot up a quick game. So addictive and so, so fun - not just one of the best first-person-shooters ever but one of the best games ever!

As I took a look at the demo, i already felt that this game was genius. The single player action is fantastic in the first level thats for sure-you meet russian soldiers in siberia on a dam-sound like goldeneye?of course, this game was made by free radical, the geniuses behind the original legend, goldeneye on the n64. as i bought the real game i found that the single player way lives up to the third person shooter charts. multiple guns(including flamethrower and futuristic guns), huge ranges of levels(from siberia to wild west!) and so on. i could talk forever!anyway, the funnest part is of course the multipayer, which has so many modes its amazin!16 in total including pyscho monkeys with flamethrowers who help the player in last place.u can also hook up 6 ps2 consoles for 16 player mayhem, cool huh?well, the icing is the mapmaker, as u can create multiplayer maps and single player maps with missions objectives!swap with your friends to show them your levels on memory card!genius!anyway, i hope this has helped and buy it quick!u dont wanna miss out. the best game ever on ps2 and worthily so. i give it 5/5. get it now!

Well, well, well, I have not been able to find a better 1st person shooter than Goldeneye on the N64, maybe with the exception being Halo. But Eidos have pulled a right corker out of the bag! This game is stunning in every aspect, right down to the simple things, such as amazingly brilliant playability. The graphics have been vamped up from the original as well asall the game modes. There is loads of new stuffm which makes the game bigger, better, faster and furious than the original! You get to battle through 9 massive levels, all in a differenttime period, therefore giving each level its unique look. You can choose from over 100 characters (count them, yes over 100!)featuring ones from the original and new ones aswell. There is a new improved story mode featuring a complex narrative and animated cut scenes that just add to the atmosphere, all this and also the option to play the infinitely addictive multi-player games (2, 3 or 4 players) and new challenge games. This is an absolute must purchase for anyone who owns a PS2.
