The Sims Superstar is the 6th expansion pack for the sims. You will need the original Sims to play and it works best if you install the expansions in the order they come in with Superstar being after Unleashed. This game works on my vista pc as well as where I originally played it on my windows 98. I honestly don't know if it works with windows 7 and newer versions I've heard don't work however there's always the chance of getting an emulator installed on your pc which could emulate an older version of windows allowing you to play this game, but check the web for details as I don't use them myself. The game needs a serial number to install (which comes on the back of the instruction booklet)so make sure if you get a used copy you have this as the game won't install without it. After that you will always need the game disc in the drive to play but no online activation or anything like that!Superstar is possibly the funniest sims game I have. The idea is that your sims can now become famous singers, actors or models. When the game installs you'll notice a new icon on the top of the neighbourhood screen where you can click to go to a new destination with your sims. When you first load the game you'll have to wait a minute or two for the game to generate new NPC sims for this Studio Town. Once you're in the game you can play the new features. The new Studio Town is only accessible by adult sims. With the new magazine that comes as well as the newspaper every day your sims can get a job at Studio Town by looking in the magazine. Sims start with zero stars and work half a star at a time to reach the full 5 star fame level. The new Studio Town has objects that help this but the only two you first have access to are the karaoke stage and the stand-up stage where they sims can try to entertain the audience. You can of course bulldoze all the lots in Studio Town and re-build them to your own liking but there are no free 'spare' lots to just build on and to get a feel for the game it's best not to do this yet. There are two main NPC (non-playable characters) in Studio Town and they all have one of two surnames so very easy to work out who's who, they're either called Somebody or Anybody. The Somebody sims are famous or trying to get famous and the amount of stars each has changes daily. Befriending famous sims can propel your own sis fame forwards quickly but doing this isn't as easy as you'd think. The more famous a sim is the harder it is for an anyone or a sim with no stars to talk to them. Only a greeting and an ask for autography interaction are available. Sims can chat to others using group objects like a hot tub and if they become friends then all interactions are available but if any sim even your own later wants to be friends with a non-famous sim once they are really famous it's very hard so make sure you befriend neighbours before you climb the fame ladder if you want to.Watching sims grow famous is really fun and you gain access to new objects after a while and I love the very famous singing in the studio in front of a camera. It takes a lot of fame stars to get to that stage but the set spawns two dancers (the opposite sex to your singing sim) and they dance and all kinds of things happen as sims perform a video. After going past the karaoke and standup performances sims have access to one different object per half star. You can use any and all objects to raise your star level as your sim progresses, but if your sims concentrates on one of the three careers (music, acting, fashion) they can win specific awards for that career. This next bit is easy when you play but a touch complicated to explain:The higher in fame your sim goes though the harder it is to correctly interact with objects. When your sim interacts with a photographer at a photo shoot they can pick 3 different ways to perform that photoshoot 3 different times. So for easy understanding your sim could pick 'Normal' followed by 'normal and then normal. Or normal, normal then shy or sexy or whatever the interactions are for that object (sorry I'mve not got the game loaded now so have gone blank while typing this). The photographer will then signal whether they liked or hated the way your sim performed. You have to watch them carefully as they'll show praise or hate 3 times. Your sim has to then choose a different way to perform based on how the photographer (or other NPC) reacts. It's a bit like that board game called Mastermind where you have to guess the right coloured pegs within a set amount of chances. While this sounds complicated it gets very easy as sims have 3 chances to get it right, but the higher fame objects only give you 2 chances so you're not always guaranteed to suceed and earn simoleons.Fame is a strange thing in the sims superstar. Fame makes sims less interactable with the normal folk but you have fun with things like bus tour coming around to your house and taking photos on the lawn before disappearing again. There's also a chance of awards being given which always happens on your own home lot. The more famous your sim is the faster fame decays though. Once your 5 star famous, if you stop performing at Studio Town your fame will suffer. I think you can go up to 3 or 5 days without suffering damage to your fame but if you don't you get a call from your agent complaining about you which is fun too.Even if you want to bypass all the fame stuff the Superstar expansion pack still has a lot of great stuff to offer the normal sims. Going to Studio Town is an option for all adults whether you sign up for fame world or not. You can visit and interact with celebrities, there are a few actual celebrity sims that you can only ask for an autograph but it's fun to see them there they are Marylin Monroe, Avril Lavigne and Andy Warhol. You have objects such as the diving tank and VR wind tunnel which CAN be used by kids if you buy them for the home (beware they are LARGE objects) you can also also visit the spa which is my FAVOURITE part of this expansion. Spa objects can be bought for the hone and used in other locations such as Downtown if you have hot date!Spa objects include a steam/sauna box, a massage table and a mud bath. These objects take a long time to interact with but all improve the comfort score like no object ever has before in the game. My favourite by far is the massage table which has a masseur or masseuse available on community lots or you can phone for their services at home and they'll stay the whole day. There's a normal and a rough massage but the reason I love this is the Chi massage. You have to play it to see it but a sim will start ohming while massaging and then rub their hands together and hover them above a sims back. They'll keep doing this moving their hands until they hover over the sims bum. The sim having the massage doesn't take too kindly to this and it's just funny to watch!I haven't encountered any bugs in this game though there is one problem I've had especially with the movie lots. In both fashion and movie careers the final object requires another fame sim to be on the lot with you. This is because the fahion show needs two sims to show of fashion and the movie studio plays out a sword fight between two sims. But on the movie lots these fame sims often disappear quickly and the lots remain very empty sometimes with no other sims to interact with other than food sellers. And even when there's a fame sim on the lot I often find it hard on the biggest pre-made movie lot to get that fame sim to break their interaction with a food, tv, etc to come work with my sim. These NPC sims usually drop whatever they are doing the minute you click on the object and select to use it but on movie sets it's a 50/50 chance of this happening. So while it is possible this is one problem you might encounter yourself while playing the game. The only other bad thing I have to say is that this game gets rid of the opening movie of The Sims. The game loads strait to the loading scene without the fun intro movie so be warned.Overall this is a really great expansion pack and worth getting if you can play the sims on your pc. Those the sims might seem dated compared to the newer versions, there's nothing quite as funny or silly as the original and that's why I am still playing this game over 10 years after I bought it! :)

The Sims Superstar Expansion Pack is, in my opinion, the best expansion pack yet released for The Sims. As long as EA keeps releasing expansion packs as impressive as this one, adding even more incredible nuances and capabilities to an already addictive game, I will never complain about their growing numbers. Superstar really revolutionizes The Sims in a way no other expansion pack, not even Hot Date, has managed to do. The drudgery of having to send your sims off to a boring workplace you never get to see is now a thing of the past. If you choose to forego the mundane and take a chance on stardom, you control your sim's career in fashion, music, or acting, scurrying him/her along from one money-making opportunity to another.Best of all, the superstar's life is not an easy one. You have to work to get your sim noticed, practicing such skills as reading lines at home, embarking initially on such activities as karaoke singing, open mic entertaining, and small print ads; there are paparazzi to be cornered for posing or publicity stunts and a network of stars to be won over by your obvious charms (including, at least in the original "Limited Collector's Edition Box," Avril Lavigne and Marilyn Monroe); the only thing missing is the old casting couch method of succeeding. Even superstardom with its coveted awards sometimes comes with a price; fans may bombard you with requests for autographs whenever you enter Studio Town, and the obsessed fan who loves you today can become the stalker hounding your every move tomorrow should he/she come to think you aren't sufficiently acknowledging his/her devotion to you.Studio Town, by far the most expansive new area ever introduced into The Sims has a world of new things to offer: e.g., spas featuring mud baths, massage tables, and oxygen bars, sushi carts, and star trailers. There are so many new things to do in Studio Town that EA provides a guide of sorts at the top of the screen with which you can quickly identify which lots offer which types of new activities. There are a number of different gigs available for your rising superstars as they advance through the ranks of their chosen field, including recording studios, soap opera sets, and high fashion venues. Your sims don't just get up on stage and mumble, either; Superstar finds them putting on some impressively expression-laden displays. The list of new objects, some 150+, this expansion pack adds to The Sims is also quite impressive. A butler is now available for hire; let him take care of running the household, hiring staff, caring for the baby, etc.; you are now far too important to be bothered with common everyday household chores. Your new lifestyle brings with it awesome new toys and diversions such as satellite dishes, new stereo speakers, skydiving simulators, tanks for scuba diving, and loads of new furnishings to fit your new lifestyle of the rich and famous. One very important innovation provided by this expansion pack is a much improved and more orderly phone book. In addition, new build mode tools let you customize your property in a number of important new ways. While I would not call Sims Superstar an absolutely necessary expansion pack to own, I do consider it essential for devoted Sims players. It is one thing to offer an impressive number of new objects, but to offer on top of that a vast new area in which to use these new objects (as well as preexisting ones) in an entirely new and exciting way is not far from being everything this Sims gamer could ask for.

This is definatly one of the best expansion packs for The Sims. It opens up a whole new world for them, full of fame and pampering. There are loads of new features in this expansion, and here are some of them:obviously plenty of careers,150 new items including karaoke stage, oxygen bar and skydiving simulator, and the best bit, a new Studio Town location which is where you can meet and make all sorts of star friends. So, how do you become famous? Well, basically you have a star rating and to improve that you have to do certain things like recording a CD or starring in a TV commercial. They get increasingly harder and as before in The Sims you need plenty of friends in order to go up a star rating. However this time, having friends is not enough, they have to be of a certain 'star' quality, ie how popular they are. Once you have reached 5 stars, then you are a star and can begin to live like one.Once you get back in Simsville you can live the life of a king, with a whole ranger of new items that will make your life heaven. And with your superstar sallery you can then start to build yourself a mansion complete with swimming pool and room for a pony. Be warned though, once you get past about 3 stars, mad fans will come round to your house so you must put up security walls with barbed wire on top if you want to keep the same level of privacy as you have always had.If you are really rich, and want some proper pampering, then can employ the services of a butler who will then employ any other nessisary workers, such as a cleaner, a gardener or a massage therapist.Basically, with this expansion pack you can live like a king in a big house and have all the house work done for you. And when you feel like it, you can phone for a streched limo to come and take you to Studio town where you can chat to fellow stars like Tina Turner and Christine Agulara. If you are a fan of the Sims or not, buy this game because it is just amazing and will give you hours and hours of fun and enjoyment.

The Sims Superstar is in my opinion (and in many other's too) the best expansion pack created by Maxis (creator of The Sims) so far, it's like Hot Date only better. For the first time ever in this expansion pack you can follow your sim to work while they record jingles, pose for photo print ads and shoot movies. Your sim can even hire a butler but at a high price, it costs five hundred simoleons (sim money) a day to hire him and it doesn't stop there because he also hires additional staff, efficient he may seem but beware - he tends to drink like a fish.In the new studio town area your sim can relax in the luxurious spas, go on shopping sprees and splash out on high fashion clothing, money is no object once your sim is famous! But don't get too keen because to become a superstar your sim has to get five stars (you get half a star for everything you do) and try and make friends with other celebrities which is not easy. Studio town comes with studios, spas and shops that Maxis have already built but you can bulldoze them and either download some other sim fans have made on the official sims site or you can get creative by making your own. The only problem with superstar is that because the graphic card requirements have gone up you may experience problems with the graphics like I did but fear not because this can easily be solved with a few clicks of the mouse although once you have fixed the graphics the game will run slow. The reason why this game is so excellent is because it's a lot more interesting than previous expansion packs - there are more options, more funny scenarios and more typically OTT celebrity objects you can decorate you sim's home with, I thoroughly recommend it to everyone. I think it will be quite difficult for Maxis to release an expansion pack which will be better than this but they do continue to churn out brilliant ideas for games, like The Sims 2 for example. I'd say this game is suitable for people of all ages so enjoy! :)

"The Sims" became an international gaming phenomenon. And since it's original release almost 5 years ago, a succession of official Expansion Packs have added much more to the original. This is perhaps one of the best of these expansions. The basic premise is very simple - turn your sims into celebrities! It all sounds very exciting, and fortunatley, it really is. When you first launch your new and improved game, you'll find a brand new location for your Sims to explore. "Studio Town" is baisically a miniture Hollywood where your sims can make it big. There's a variety of activities for you to explore in this new area, including laying down tracks in the Recording Studio, making movies On Set and even getting the A-List Luxury treatment at the Spa.But it's not just the new activities and items that make the expansion pack so good, it's how you unlock them. As a budding actress, singer or model you won't have anything given to you. Practice your talents at home and networking and working your way up the social ladder will both be required for you to succeed. In essence, the new "celebrity" status is another career. You'll have to work hard at it just like any jobs your sims have had before. Although this can get slightly frustrating [How many more famous people's universe-sized ego's must I flatter to get the role in that movie?!] it's mostly enjoyable and the rewards are all the more sweeter for your endevours.Baisically, this is a very well thought out and executed Expansion Pack. The whole idea of making your sims worldwide celebrities is a very appealing one, and the new items, interactions and gameplay ensure that reaching your goals is as enjoyable as reeping thier benefits. If you own The Sims and are getting bored with it's 'everyday' approach to life, this is sure to give you and your sims a dose of decadance you both need.

Not quite as good as Hot Date, but that will always be the big leap for the sims as it creates a whole new downtown area. The superstar is although a fantastic game. This is an excellent game, really adding new gameplay to the Sims. For the first time you can go to work with your Sim on their quest for superstardom. There are three career paths with you can choose from, or take a mixture of all - Fashion model, pop star and movie star. In Studio Town they can earn money from singing jingles, making commercials and modelling for ads, then onto getting bigger parts or record deals as they build their star rating which also includes them attaining certain skill levels like the regular jobs, plus aquiring a certain famous friend rating from those they meet in Studio Town or from your own families. The game also includes new objects and skins, which include fab furniture, wallpaper, pictures, spa items like massage tables and mud baths plus luxury items like a sky diving stimulator or a scuba diving tank!Disadvanatge mainly is, like Hot Date and Unleashed, when your Sim goes to Studio Town he comes back at the same time as he left but with his new decreased motive levels - i.e he returns tired, hungry and in desperate need of a bath, even if it is 10.30 in the morning, and had been fed and bathed '3 hours' previously. It would be nice if they could bring him back at the time he left Studio Town.Like all Sim expansion packs this needs a lot of drive space to run smoothly, if you run OK with your other packs, then this one should be OK too. It is also slow to load as are all Sims games.Overall this is up there with Hot Date as one of my favourite expansion packs, and one I play often.

If you love following every movement of celebrities, you will love controlling them. The furniture and decorative items you get with this expansion pack are simply stunning. Really nice minimal wallpapers, in cream and white, and lots of gorgeous expensive-looking furniture for your wannabe-rich Sims. You start out by quitting your job and hiring an agent. Then you hit Studio Town, where you claw your way to the top by singing in smokey bars, posing for photos and generally pleasing fans by signing autographs and letting them hug you. Its such hard work that at the end of it all, you will seriously need to wind down in your own home spa. You can kit out your spa with all the latest equipment such as a new stylish workbench, steamers, mud/sulphur/milk baths, new hot-tubs, your own personal masseur and an oxygen bar! You're definitely too tired and important to do your own cooking or cleaning of the house, so you just NEED to hire a Butler to do it all for you. The butler will command the maid and gardener to do certain things and can also order food for you. His cooking skills are rubbish though, so I advise you get him to hire the caterer from House Party. This game is very fun, and you will spend hours trying to make your Sims become famous.

The Sims Superstar, one of the best Sims expansion pack that has ever come out. I really enjoy playing on this game because there are so many new cool objects and you have to gain star points to become famous enough. You get an obsessed fan following you about and the more famous you are, the more fans you get. As you gain more star points, you get a better care to go to Studio Town in! You get a sports van, the a bigger van, then a limo, the a better limo and you have access to more objects in studio town. When you are in Studio Town you see famous people such as Avril Lavigne! You get cool new objects such as a skydiving simulator and an aquarium to swim in! You have to hire an assistant using the newspaper.Oh, and by the way, you get 2 newspapers on The Sims Superstar. One is the normal one, and the other is the tabloid where you can hire an assistant, see who is famous, and read the news! It is a fantastic game and i enjoy building Studio Town lots and houses because there is a lot of modern items and building materials. So, if you haven't got it, get it!

The sims superstar is by farthe best add on out there in the big wide gaming world. Your sim starts off as a normal person until they find a letter from a talent agency lying on their doormat waiting to be read. Once they have signed for the agency they sing infront of croudsto get noticed, go through the popularity rankings and work their way to the top either as a popstar, movie star or a model. The game also includes three celebrities who can be found wandering about in random areas of studio town, they are Christina Aguilera, Marilyn Munroe and somebody else. once your sims has become a celebrity they go to the appropriatly named, simmy awards where they can pick up an award for music, modeling or acting. This game also comes with many exciting new items like a music stage for your own back garden and oxygen bars and many more! But this game comes with a warning, it can become to addictive and family men are strongly advised to aviod this game at all costs to save their marrige1 But for any other type of sims fan this is a superb game and a must buy!!!

Ok, being a HUGE sims fan, i abviously brought this new sims as soon as it came out but was very disappointed as it required very new and updated programmes off of my PC that i didnt have.I ended up downloading what i needed off the internet but it took a loong time to find out what was up.When i got the game running it was sooooooooooooooooo good. Its really great! You can take your sims down to the studio town make them act, sing and model to get superstar points! its fantastic. I takes a while to get them into superstar land but its well worth it! Maxis have even created Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguelaria and Maryln Monroe in this amazing expansion pack! This has to be the best expansion pack yet for The Sims. This time your sims can try to become superstars. There is a whole new area for them to visit (Studiotown) where they can mingle with such legends as Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol or attempt to make friends with the local stars....not always an easy task.Budding stars have to devlop their skills in singing, acting and modelling as well as keeping fans happy by chatting to them regularly and giving autographs. Woe betide the sim who neglects his fans as he will quickly be stalked by the 'obsessed fan' who not only interrupts his work in studiotown but also follows him home and leaves dead flowers around or rummages in bins. There are new wallpapers, floors etc and lots of new items to keep your sim happy....try the fun oxygen bar or have a relaxing massage. Outdo the Joneses by being the first in your neighbourhood to employ a butler. If you are only going to buy one expansion pack then this should be the one.

The Sims, first started as a plain almost nearly 3D dodgy first Sim's collection game. And it took ages to setup and install, well. Who invented this game???It's fab people!!!Absolutely fabulous!!!All new exotic jobs (singer, model, a policeman) and many more. And plus more items and furniture to add to your mansion to really make this latest sequel. The Sims has evolved...and to be exact....so has the technology these days. Thanks to CD reproduction and technology we've got the chance to make and create our own dream house in the matter of about 2 hours.Great!!!Please bring out another one! Here's a list of what's new around the house:1.New and more realistic furniture2.More realistic living effects3.Brand spanking new jobs4.Walk into town,or into your job studio(s)Don't miss this chance to make and create the house of the estates!Verdict: 10/10 Effects: 10/10 Screenplay: 10/10 Setup power: Around about 5 minutes if you've got an XP PC.

Was this really the best? It was good in some ways but boring in others. The first week or so it was my faveourite sims game I had owned, but then it got quite boring. The objects are the best thing to it and going to studio town is something to look forward to. The only disadvantage of studio town is that the children can not aconpany the adult, also only one adult can go to studio town per day. There are also good things to this expansion including the skydiving simulation and scuba-diving tank which raise your sims fun level a great deal. Yes, the children can not use these but they have manny fun objects too.Sims superstar is a good expansion with the sims unleashed and like hotdate, lets the charatars meet loads of new sings to greet people and comunicate togethor.

Yes, This is my latest of the Sims expansion packs. I think this is defenately well designed, and also goes high in my ratings. At first it is a little hard to understand - how to get stars, and how to get better at singing. But as time goes on it all becomes clearer, and after reading all the reviews about it you start to get tips and start enjoying it more. When you buy it, i'd say give it a week before you can properly rate it because you may not have come to terms with all the latest add-ons to superstar. It is also very addictive because after a while you will find yourself glued to the computer, trying to get your sim famous by practising his/her talent. If you are thinking of buying this product,i do reccomend it, but give it a while to get used to.
