The Hot Date expansion pack adds a whole new dimension to The Sims. What with working all day and constantly fighting off hunger and fatigue, our sims just don’t have a lot of time for romance and fun. Wouldn’t it be great if you could simply stop time while you work on building your sims’ social lives? Well, now you can do just that. Oh, time passes for your sim while he/she is out painting the town red in the new Downtown area, but you arrive back home just after you left, giving you a much-needed chance to rest and recover from your daring exploits in town (not to mention entertain any date that actually agrees to come home with you).The new Downtown area is great. Now your sims can go out dancing,hit the bars, dine out in fancy restaurants or just grab a hot dog and ice cream cone, shop for new clothes, buy gifts for one another, etc. If you want to buy a new outfit for your sim sweetie, you can have her try it on and model it for you before deciding to fork over the simulated dough. As for dating, you can simply dismiss your date if things go badly (or a more attractive prospect happens along). When things are really clicking, though, you can lay a number of different lip-locks on your lucky date, including the aptly named passionate kiss, play footsie underneath the table, and/or cuddle up and neck (right there in public, mind you). Even a seemingly casual encounter can become exciting when a sim quite taken with you suddenly jumps up into your arms. These sims are not easy by any means, however—convincing a date to come home with you requires skill and a little bit of luck.One really great thing about Hot Date is the fact that it greatly expands your world of potential friends. Once you meet a new character downtown, you can call that individual up from home to invite him/her over, ask him/her out on a date, or just talk. This makes it much easier for you to win enough friends to qualify for that big promotion you’ve been after at work.Hot Date is really great, but there are a couple of minor drawbacks to it. There is one bug in particular that continues to plague me. In a busy restaurant with tables placed close together, one of the NPCs can get in the way of your date, making him/her essentially freeze in place while you are stranded at the table all alone. At the best of such times, you can cancel the dining transaction, get your date moving again, and make a second attempt at ordering a meal; there have been times, however, when my sim became stuck in the Downtown area, unable to even return home, and I had to shut down the program manually or reboot. More importantly, though, Hote Date is pretty hard on the old processor. You can play the game on a PC running the minimum system requirements, but your game will be agonizingly slow at times and will continue to run slower and slower until such time as you exit, reboot, and restart the program. Overall, though, this expansion pack is by far the best of the bunch and makes possible a brand new kind of experience sure to delight all fans of The Sims.

I love this expansion pack, it has given the game a real boost. You get to invite another adult Sim in your household or neighbourhood to join you downtown, where you have 10 lots with beaches, parks, shops and/or restaurants & bars. Each different lot has different opportunities for dating, and the new 'Ask' interaction allows your Sim to ask his new date how they are and what their interests are, giving a deeper dimension to the game as you try and please your date.There are great new objects and furnishings such as the love tub which gives for some fun interactions. Hot Date is an excellent expansion pack, if you have the time to play it. It comes complete with a lot of new objects (although, I hate to say, I found these weren't as interesting as the objects that came with the two previous extension packs) and 5 new career options (major hurray for the journalism path). Plus, there's the new downtown area where you can build shops, cafes...well, practicually anything that takes your fancy. Unfortunately, with all this new stuff, it DOES take a while to load....espically if you're not using the newest of hardware. When i first saw the game i thought that it would be the same as the other games - a bit more furniture and more career paths - but i was wrong.The sims are now able to leave their home and explore the possibilities of seeing someone else.Just pick up the phone, call a cab and then choose a downtown area for them to go to.Buy clothes, candy, flowers, magazines, games, jewellery and much more there.When you meet someone you like, talk to them and then invite them to eat. The sims hot date is, by far, the best expansion yet. Exciting new features include the love couch, a heart shaped hot tub and the ability to leave your house and go downtown. You there find a date and ask them their interests, and with a bit of luck you will succeed in asking for a date. A whole new range of lots are introduced, from the sassy, posh restauraunt to the fish bar. Dance or have a drink in the pub, make your relationship go sky high or let it topple. Just talk, or you might want to kiss, play footsie under the table or ask your date home. This is a fanmtastic add on to the rest of the sim family.You can build your own areas of downtown or visit the incredible ready made ones. Items can be purchased solely for downtown or you can evn bring downtown home with you and add a few sizzling items to your house.This game offers you the chance to meet new Sims from all around and hopefully get a date with them. To win them over take them to a posh restaurant or if your a bit short of simoleons go for a slice of pizza, hotdog or burger.There are new skins which are groovy!There are alot more interactions. Therefore more ways to entice your new date. Kids have more interactions with other kids and adults.I would recommend if you are building your own area of downtown that you place a bed there.

After about six months of having the original Sims, i decided it was timeto try getting an exspansion pack. If your feeling the same, then this isthe one you want.The main feature is that of course you can takeyou and your Sim downtown.Theres plenty of verieaty (Excuse my spelling)ranging from restraunts and parks to normal corner shops and malls. On thenieghbour hood screen, you actually have the option to delete a downtownshop, and build your own, only with many added downtown items which cann'tbe use in your home. Theres plenty of other little things which come withthe Sims Hot Date, hidden things which you don't always see. One of thesethings is that you collect well over one hundred items around the home touse.

OK, its got a cheesey title but don't let that put you off. Sims now have great new ways of interacting. They can kiss in 6 different ways, Hug in 4, and entertain in 3. Its just great trying out all these new interactions. The new downtown area is great. You have an UNLIMITED BUDGET to build with and you can build shops, restaurants, beaches, and parks. You can sail boats across the pond or have a picnic in the park. You can eat in a posh restaurant where guys with guitars serenade you, or you can eat hotdogs outside. You can relax in thelovers bench or relax in the lovers hottub. The possibilities are endless. Hot Date is a brilliant expansionpack for the sims, and everyone must get it.

The Sims is already the most popular Pc game of all time with this expansion pack it gets even more exciting!The first notable changes you will realise is "downtown" part of the sims neighbourhood. Downtown you can meet up with friends, go to a bar, go shopping and meet singles.This add on pack gives the gameplay a total new direction with so much more than just looking after the family, friends and career, it gives you a lot more complex disecions to deal with.Sometimes you might want to use the money cheat so you can really spoil your dates!This is easily the best sims add on pack because it gives you the power to play cupid! 5/5

The best sims game yet with the downtown mode to explore, I have had it for a week and I have only explored the beach.The sims hot date does as the name says, It gives your sims the oppertunity to go on a date, and the best thing is you don't just kiss once then you have a child, you have to find the right person and know when to make the next move, it is so frustrating when you get it wrong but it is bliss when you get it right.It has hundreds of new items and tons of new people to meet!This is a flawless and wonderfully enjinered game.It is worth every penny.Buy it or you will live to regret it!

Keeping with tradition, Maxis have yet again excelled themselves with this little beauty. A ton of new options and features, such as leaving your house and venturing into the downtown area of SimCity, New interaction options to make your Sim's dreams of true love come true, Dating other sims by taking them to dinner etc..., New interests which you can use to your sim's advantage when chatting up a potential soul-mate and a whole lot more. This is definately one for anybody who loves great games, cause this is dafinately one of them. Don't delay, buy it now... and get some L.O.V.E in your SimLife

Its amazing how much the game is transformed when you install hot date, Its such a simple idea, but you wonder when playing with how you could have done without it. The romance scenes between sim adults are great, and the option of making your own bars/resteraunts in a new downtown is great. Its got plenty of new interesting items, and as you keep playing the game, your bound to find lots of different actions that wern't previously included, and you'll still be discovering them even after your first few plays.Along with 'Livin it up', hot date is just as good and just as important. Get it!

The third expansion pack to 'The Sims' allows you to create a new down-town area, where yoour Sims can socially interact with their dates, or, if like many people they're single, go and meet the new love of their life!New features include a short-term and a long-term relationship status monitor, so you can see new friendships blossom in all their glory!Hot Date includes new items which can be bought for the home, giving your Sims an even more luxurious life!I loved playing the game and it is incredibly addictive. A definite must for any serious gamer who likes The Sims!

One thing I love about this expansion pack is that you can go 'Down Town'and buy new formal, swim and Night clothes, though they need a more wideselection to choose from and you should also be able to buy new Normalclothes. The new animations and interactions are good, choose how you wishto kiss, hug, wave, talk etc. Almost every option has aditionall versionsmaking the game more interesting and the more complicated dating system isa nice touch, making it more life like.

When i heard about this pack iwas a bit unsure, would it be that much different from the others? It is. The sims hot date unlocks a whole new area for your sims. Downtown. It offers lots of new interactions and products for your sims. It's great because it gives you a chance to meet new people and form meaningful relationships. I recommend this to all sim gamers. If your only going to get one expansion pack, get this one!
