The sims house party is an excellent expansion pack that finally allows sims 1 sims the chance to hold parties at their house, and for lots of strange and fun things to occur while having a party. First the installation. This game installed fine on my windows vista pc, there is a serial code you will have to enter when installing and then you will always need the disc to play but there is no nasty online activation of anything like that. Also on vista you have to make sure you are an administrator when playing this game or it will wipe out your previously saved games.If you have the original sims installed on your pc then I urge you to get this expansion pack.Unlike the more recent sims 2 and 3 where parties are always available since the base game, the original sims couldn't hold any official parties until this expansion pack, only very large gatherings instead.There are many new features in this game and just like the style of livin' it up expansion pack, this game's extras all make for very funny/silly gameplay.There are several new themes you get with house party. There is a new bamboo themed wallpapers, floors, furniture, etc. as well as nightclub themes (think inflatable sofas and werid metal wallpapers) and cowboy stuff like hay bales to sit on. There is a lot of new actual items in this expansion, and although there are a lot of aesthetically new objects there's actually a lot of new functional objects that all do different things.I won't include the entire list but to give you a clue here are some of the best:DJ booth- sims can dj at a party or hire one, this is one way to get hold of new music (see below).Dance floor- floor that lights up as sims dance on it, their dances change according to which radio station is on.Catering table - cater your self or hire a caterer for the party - and watch him when he goes to the costume box!Punch- Sims drink punch and standaround the bowl talking to each otherCostume Trunk- get all your sims to dress up in whatever style you choose once they arrive to the party, lots of funny costumes in here.Charades - sims all play charades although 1 glitch occurs for me when they play (see 'bugs' below)Campfire - watch sims tell ghost stories, roast marshmallows, talk or sing around the campfireBucking bull- this is funny to watch as sims try to stay on the bucking bronco/bullDancer in cake- this extra large cake that sits on the floor activates a female or male dancer to perform a sexy dance for your sims.That's just a few of the items I most like to play with but there's so much more to this expansion pack. The pack allows sims to call 'throw party' from their house phone. This invites random sims to your house who will all show up after a few game minutes. Once the game registers 5 non-household sims on the lot it is officially a party. Keep this information in mind as sometimes you might just have guests around for fun but enough neighbours walking by on the kerb can create an automatic party, which can lead to fines from police if it's late at night. Also the 'throw party' interaction will only ever invite adult sims so if you want a kids party you'll have to call them individually.Another way of creating a party os to place a birthday cake or turkey on your lot. A few minute later sims appear, if you have the turkey they also bring gifts but again this only brings adult sims.One other way to create a party is to place party balloons on the lot. These will create a visitor walking by on the kerb more often than the game usually allows. You have to go to the trouble of greeting these visitors but its the game's way of creating a party. Just beware, once all party balloons pop they cause a dramatic negative environmental score which dampens all sims moods.Once the game registers a party it starts keeping a score. How good or bad a party is, is based on how happy sims are. Sims 1 sims are best kept happy by making sure you feed them up and offer them social interactions, fun and well, everything else that makes up a sims needs. The biggest problem with all the new objects however is that virtually none of the new activities (except the campfire) offer comfort so sims can have a low mood just because their comfort score is down.One way to keep track over how good or bad the overall mood of everyone is to buy the moose head. I think it already came with the original or livin' it up expansions but now has a new feature. The antlers point up or down or stay in the centre to denote the overall mood of everyone. The overall score is important as great parties have special bonuses and bad ones have consequences.*Mini spoilers:*Good parties can get party crashers to attend (a random sim who turns up, enjoys your party and blocks your toilets) there's also the chance that a limo will arrive and Drew Carey will turn up. Drew will socialize with several sims, say something outrageous to female sims getting him slapped and then go home. And in case you are wondering Drew really DID add his voice talents to this game!Bad parties will give you a mime. He's not funny and if you're not careful will start to steal things, usually going for the charades box in my sims houses or oddly an empty plate!*mini spoilers over*The house party expansion has led to nothing but fun for me. I love the new parties and wish that some of the features of the parties were put into other sims games, expecially the sims 2 which never featured costume parties. The expansion brings so much and there's so much fun to be had that I really don't think anyone would be disappointed to get this pack. Just like the sims 1 in general the feel of the expansion is funny/silly and there are no real consequences to anything that happens in this game.BUGS:I have only encountered one bug on my windows 98 pc (I have avoided the bug on vista by not putting my sims in that situation so not sure if it is a general bug or just isolated to windows 98). The bug is when I have children and adults playing charades together. Every now and again somebody in the household can gain a point of charisma just by getting an answer right. But sometimes a child gets it right and should be awarded the point but the adutlts head is visible in the screen that says 'so-and-so has just gained a point of charisma' After that I couldn't play as the kid. Every time I tried to play as the kid and move my sim to do something, the adult would move. I remedied this by simply not allowing kids and adults to play charades together or by saving before they start in case I have to exit without saving and reload.This is the only glitch/bug I have found with this game.House party introduces so many new things into the game. New skins and hair as well as 4 new music stations. These are rave(techno), rap, beach and country dance(slightly different to country). DJ booths and the jukebox are the only way to get these new stations. But you can delete these objects for some money back and keep the favourite station set on your lot - remember sims 1 only allows one music station per lot.There are so many objects for having parties, my favourites are weirdly the dancing cage and the cake which features a dancer inside. The dancer is always a sexy male or female who first do a sexy dance and then chat up anyone at the party until they are dismissed. This chatting up is very funny to watch but bad for sims who are in relationships.Another curious thing about the cake is something I've only ever seen 3 times in the history of playing the sims (and I play A LOT). That is a female dancer replaced by a female hippo dancer-think it was a hippo, and a sexy male replaced with a weedy guy in boxing shorts and boxing gloves. I had no idea how these were conjoured or how to ever get them again, but my sims watching were not impressed at all, very funny.Overall I would recommend this game to anyone who has the sims 1. I think the sexy dancers led to an increase in the games age rating but there is no woo-hooing or anything as far as I can think so its not too bad. The game has so much new stuff on offer that even at its original retail price i'd still say it was value back then. The game was so spectacular when it came out, it was the first time sims had the ability to bend their last two fingers to create pointing- such a simple thing but back then when I bought it, it truly amazed me. To me this expansion is also great as apart from one charades glitch I have spotted no obvious bugs and many of the objects in this game can be placed downtown or on other lots if you have subsequent expansion packs.A great game a really recommend, as long as you pc can work the sims 1 then I say get house party!

In my opinion this one is the weakest of the excellent Sims expansion packs to date, but it is still quite good.You have the added bonus of throwing a party by clicking an option on the phone, and also hiring a caterer (if you wish) the same way. There are loads of excellent add-ons for themed parties that are good for every day Sim homes, such as the new furniture in Hawaiian and Country & Western styles, and new decorative objects.There are many objects Sims can buy (and sell the next day) to make their party a sucess such as the rodeo bull, the DJ booth and the bubble blower. The best items to invest in are the Costume trunk (dress all your Sims in togas or 70s disco outfits)

This was my first expansion pack, and i thought it was great to get used to the sims with. It is easy to keep your sims happy by having a houseparty, and is also a good way to make friends. It is so easy all you need to do is build a dance floor which is in the electronics section of the build mode. Oh yeah if you want a caterer then you have to get a chefs table...(all explained on the phone!)Before getting houseparty i would reccomend getting livin' it up because this livin it up offers many more items, and makes house party more interesting to play.House party is one of the first sims game ever made, so it does not have the most precice ways of communicating with other sims but as I said before it is a good way of starting off and getting used to the way the Sims works.

U can party all night on the dance floor! Eat as much as you like and best of all don't even hafe to move from your chair. Sims house party has many new things like a dance floor so that your sims can dance till the sun comes up. You don't have to spend hours on the phone calling up all them sims just click on the phone and click throw party and in a sec everbody is at your door! There are brand new skins,floors,walls. Meet mr mime the brother of the clown from livin'it up. Or get a dance male/female to jump out of a big cake. If its a sims birthday you might want to buy them a small cake and sing happy birthday well you can.Watch all the sims bring you birthday gifts and put on party hats.The sims couldn't get any better then this!

This game may not appear to be much but in my opinion it is one of the best sims games. New items allow you to build a great house with fun items like the dance floor. Also, if you like me are too lazy to cook you can buy a buffy table (like in vacations) and fill it up.The partys are brilliant as one phone call invites everyone around and its a real challenge to keep everyone happy. A mime might come aswell to 'entertain' your guests but only if your throwing a bad party.This game is a good little expansion pack to have and provides great items and the opportunity to throw one hell of a party! For any sims fan this is a definate recommendation!

The Sims House Party itself is a fantastic wee addition to the original series, adding many fun party objects to decorate or interact with, ridiculous new outfits for your Sims and loads of other great features. I would recommend anyone buy any of the original Sims games, however not this particular copy. I purchased this specific version of the game and although it states in the description "PC CD" what I received was actually a MAC DVD. Of course my computer would not recognise the disc or play it, so I had no choice but to return it.I simply suggest Amazon change the description of this product.

Right then people if you love the sims on it's own then your mad just buy House Party i tell you all it's a serious addiction very serious indeed.listen to this you can dance the night away with a hi fi and flashing lights on the floor,you've got a whole box full of new clothes and objects.just listen to me and buy HOUSE PARTY!But im warning you once more its a serious addiction you might not even get enough sleep but what the hell its a great game (just dont tell your mam and dad because you could miss a lot of school but who cares anyway just get it OK!!!!!)

It started with one person and a dream. A dream to make people(Sims) to come to life in a game called the sims. That was ten years ago now we see add on pack number two! With brand new objects like a dj box a dance floor and much more! If you want to cook food over a camp fire wow now you can! You can also blow bubbles with the brand new machine. Try making your own food or hire somebody to do that for you. Make sure that the bar has some drink or them guests might start to get made. Sims house party looks like its going to be good

This game is fantastic!I love it and think it is a must have for any real game fanatic.Going downtown is a breath of fresh air for you and your hard working sim. Improve long and short-term relationships with over 40 new one-on-one interactions, or create a downtown neighbourhood complete with shops,parkes,and a beach. .You can meet new people, take out a good friend or someone you are hoping to be more then that with. So i tell you now take this tip and by this game you have not lived until you have lived for your sim.

The party of the year for the game of the year!Lots of new furniture,walls and tiles to mess around with here. Invite friends round for a birthday or christmas party, or even halloween!Every fan of the sims is bound to enjoy this. It is lots of fun to play, but, however, I still don't think there is enough here to say that the game is brilliant value. There isn't enough here for it to cost the £20 I paid for it. £15 would have been better, but its a brilliant expansion pack all the same!

If you have The Sims but don't have house party you are really missing out.100+ new objects including a mechanical bull , a bubble blower , a camp fire and a DJ booth.Hire entertainers , caterers and a little something for th adults.A Cake Dancer.Party Balloons are Great out side if you want more party guests , but , if the mime comes you know your party is a dud. Look out for him , he stole my toilet!With all this new stuff you'll be addicted!

This is the best game I have played since...The Sims Livin' It Up/The Sims!!! It is sooooo great, you can party all night in a disco or you can just sing camp songs round a fire. Also the new skins and furniture sets are brill, I am just glued to my computer!!! If you don't buy this, believe me, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!! One more thing, beware of zee Mime he may look innocent doing his little acts but he is a criminal. He stole my TV!!!

this is the quick easy construction game from maxis it helps you to realise the matters of lifewith your own simulated people first pick your own looks, clothes, names and family then design your own house for your sims to live in cheats come with the first verion of SIMS for instance rosebud;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;! and the more of the punctuation like that you do the more money you get thats why i gave this fun p.c item 5 stars

This has got to be the best sims game yet!!!! There are another 100 items including a DJ decks and cake dancers plus if your party is rubish then the mime will sow up if it is great then a celebrity guest will show up. if this is the standard of sims games at the moment i can not wait for the next 3 expansions. Including The sims hot date expansion, Simsville and simsonline (not yet known if it wil be a game or an internet download

House Party adds new gameplay to the Sims. New objects include dancefloors, dancecages, campfires and dressing-up boxes. Partying is great and if u throw a cool party Drew Carey might come. But if your party's bad the Mime or the Party Crashers might come. Its really great to see your sims dancing and having fun with all the other objects made for social interaction. This expansionpack is a must-buy for any sims owner.
