KOF XIII delivers key things the series has been gasping for for an eternity... fast fluid game play with responsive buttons and a crucial combination engine. The KOF series has allways been more of a technical game than the street fighter cousins and this one is no different, although they have pretty much double the input response by 3* making it considerably easier than its predessesors to pull out moves. This along with the ability to cancel a connected special to go into a further combo/ special or supers. This gives the genre a massive lease of life and allows the KOF series to be a more enjoyable and alot more skill based (yes despite the easier inputs). The negatives come in the lack of KOF fighters in this series, some may think 30 is plenty but well and truly for a 3 aside game it is not. It means only ten teams when other older versions had double this number. Really enjoyable characters that would have benefited from this bolstered combat system are missing. People like Whip, Mary, and the boxer woman would have been fantastic in the game.Second annoyance is that Akiru in his transformed stage has no right to be called a boss, he is skanky beyond measure and not truly hard but just a cheat. The web shoot and grab techniques (while your in the middle of a combo) is infuriating and he truly does not compare to past KOF bosses. He just seems like Hacks. A good example of a boss is Gill in SF3 or Geese or Rugal in Previous KOFs who kicked your ass but you couldn't argue as all there moves were painful but non skanky.Except for these two gripes the game is an excellent a large step ahead for the KOF series and hopefully a step into making this game a true 2d King.

this is a good game. i've never bought a KoF game before but i enjoy this game. Would preffer a better tutorial for newcomers but at least it has a tutorial other fighting games skip that part. The cutscenes should have voice instead of just text, i mean it has the sounds and all that but feels like an old game where voice hadn't been inputed yet. As for the case it would be nice if it had the moves from the characters on the booklet like street fighter. But this is what really matters in a fighting game, the control is accurate, its a fast game, cool characters, and i'm not a great fighting games player but i recommend this one.

I'm a huge fan of KOF games, but let's face it most are WAY below par.The best KOF game imo is the PC Mugen version, but this is also very entertaining. The fight system is sophisticated , yet complex and unlike say Marvel vs Capcom you won't be able to pull combos off with ease. Many fan favourites have returned , such as Mature and there's lots to unlock, but the game probably borders on too easy.If you're a KOF fan, you're definately in for a treat. The graphics are sumptious, but the characters are probably a little too small.

pleasent graphics, it's colorful, the art is attractive, the characters are well designed and the sounds and music are awesome. I would have given this game a 5 if it had not been for the difficult controls due to the 360 controller and empty multiplayer. If you can afford a joystick for this game and like king of fighters, then this is for you
