I have to point out that this game is rather crappily made. It takes a sacred license from a classic film and urinates all over it- applying it to a game with a crappy story that takes huge liberties with the film's plot. It does this to benefit its own story (which is poor) plus to utilise the voice talents they could get. E.g Fredo lives longer, I can only assume this is because they wanted to make the most of his voice talents as it was a bit of a coo getting him. They must have paid these actors a good bundle to desecrate the film in such a way. The graphics are ordinary (dated now), the music can be repetitive, and the game is too easy, This, quite frankly,is quite a crappy game and I should now be leaving it there and giving it a one or two star.... just one thing though, the game is quite a lot fun, I can't help it, I've spent hours on it and had a good time! For one thing it does a lot of things i've wanted a game in the Mafia world to do. Things such as adding strategy, allowing to recruit soldiers and forming your own crew, being able to order your soldiers to take certain actions. I've always wondered why no one has bothered to do this, the Mafia world is crying out for an action/strategy hybrid! Godfather II implements a lot of these things but does them in its own crappy, shallow sort of way. Still, it is a lot of fun recruiting men and building up your crime family. The strategy comes into play with a feature known as The Don's View, a 3D map that allows you to view your property and that of rival families so you can plan where you want to strike. See, to strengthen your family, you'll need to take over fronts that help launder money as well as the nine crime rings in the game, which provide bonuses to the family that owns it. For example, owning the gun running ring allows you to carry more ammo, while the drug ring doubles your income. However, you can't simply take over a business or ring and not expect a certain amount of retribution. Rivals will send their own made men to bomb or try to wrest control from you, forcing you to use The Don's View to decide when you want to send reinforcements or set up extra defenders to fend off these attacks. You'll also be able to use this map to track down corrupt officials that you can do tasks for in return for favors that can be called in at any time, which can result in throwing off the police when you're being chased or arresting Mafioso, making an opponent that much more vulnerable. Of course, this is a temporary measure, and if you're going to try to fully eliminate a family, you'll want to track down each individual mobster and put a hit out on them. You'll discover the info on their location by doing favors for people on the street, like demolishing businesses, beating or killing people, or cracking safes. Once you've taken every business of a rival, their entire family (minus any made men that you've "retired") will retreat to their compound which you need to raid and blow up to finally eliminate their existence once and for all. While you will be able to perform some of the tactical moves for your family, you'll inevitably find yourself deep in the midst of the action with up to three crew members, each with their own skills that will help you in battle. For instance, you can bring along a medic that can heal downed members of your crew, engineers that can cut the power so rivals can't call for reinforcements and demolitions guys that can bomb installations. For the most part, these crewmembers will act autonomously, targeting and taking out enemies as soon as they see them, but you do have the ability to provide minor commands to them to send them to a location, make them follow you or use their skills on certain objects. Of course, Dominic isn't a pushover either, and you'll be able to pummel whoever you want with his fists, choke the life out of them, or blast a kneecap or a shoulder with precise aim. Of course, you can also use the weapons that you acquire to execute enemies like beating them senseless with a golf club or shoving a Tommy gun in their mouth and ventilating the back of their head. Now, if you're finding that you're having trouble with a particular location or fight, you can spend cash to increase the stats of both Dominic and your crewmembers, making them more capable in battle, like healing faster or being more accurate with weapons. For the most part, the balance of action and strategy is fun - by using the Don's View, you get a sense of the overall battle raging across the three cities that you fight for, and you do have the ability to manipulate aspects of the world solely from this view (like sending soldiers to attack rivals). Similarly, you will definitely get your hands dirty with the action focus, whether that's by robbing banks or blowing away thugs as you personally ensure that your family's territory grows. There is one problem with all of this; it is FAR too easy. The enemy AI will not think like a rival don, they will not think tactically, they will fight back sporadically depending on your actions and it becomes easy to pick a family off bit by bit. Very easy yes, still fun... yes.So this game is far from perfect, it is rough around the edges, uses the film license (my favourite film) rather sacrilegiously at time and so many of the good features of the game could have been done better with just a little more thought. Plus it is very easy. Though you can recruit men, promote them, customise them, choose what thread they wear etc. Plus it is a lot fun living the day to day life of a wise guy, you need money to improve yo and your men? Then you gotta hustle, do jobs here and there, robbing, vandalising, intimidating, beating people up and collecting money, murder and if you need a big score? Rob a bank or a store. You can extort people and take over businesses and do favours for the location of rival made men so you can find 'em and whack 'em. It offers three different maps and a lot of fun, I always describe this game as crap but fun, and it is, pretty naff but I had a good time playing it!Graphics- *** Script/story- ** Sound/Music- *** Game play- ****

I'm probably a half to two thirds of the way through the game and have become hooked. I played the original game and loved it, I think this will bias me a bit.First, the bad points. The graphics, for a 360 game, are terrible. As is the driving (I have never had a worse experience!) and the shooting, if you consider that the game really hasn't progressed from the previous one. There are some aspects of the game system that aren't ideal - for example, there is very little punishment for dying mid-mission and the teammate skill system can be worked around by instantly juggling the group you've got with you.However... if like me you love the Godfather story/style,and are more turned on by the immense strategy experience than the technical side to the game, then you can, honestly, overlook the uninspiring graphics and driving. Your two focuses will be doing the missions, which follow a nice story, and getting on with taking over cities business by business. It's possible to get bored with one of these and then change what you're doing and get totally engrossed in the other side of things. The way you can dispatch whatever level of manpower you think is required to defend your turf, which is frequently tested, and balance this commitment with the skill set you need for your current job, combined with the aspect of gaining/deny your rivals Crime Rings and last but not least gradually whittling away at their family tree with special assasinations is great fun. I also enjoyed customising the skill levels, specialisms and outfits of my crew, and looking out for weapons, execution styles and so on which give the game some longevity for completionists.I totally recommend this game to anyone wanting a unique, interesting game. If you're obsessed by graphics ("Oh my God the new COD/Halo has amazing graphics") then it might not be for you. But this is a more focused, strategic (but not overly strategic) alternative to GTA which I think is well worth the money.

After buying godfather 1 I did have high expectations for this game as the first game was so addictive. Firstly, the game has improved in all the ways you would want it too as you now get to control your own family as a Don and control them to do what you want i.e. attack and attempt a takeover of another business, they can stay with you as you are doing the storyline objectives, you can send them off to defend one of your businesses that a rival family is attacking, or even send a few of them to bomb another business. Each family member can have different skills that they master in e.g. a medic; which is a fantastic idea for the creaters of this game as a medic can revive you when you havelost all of your health in battle...this means that the game isn't slowed down by constantly going to hospital...which can become very tedious. I find it brilliant the fact that you build up a family and make improments to them along the way....you can even make them look the way you want. One of the things that was extremely annoying in the first godfather was that even when becoming don you still had to go off by yourself and attack other rackets....unless you wanted to pay for one guy to back you up.....pay.....as don of the family...struck me as abit strange....but the game was still addictive nonetheless and this game; because of the improvements is even more addictive and has a very good and interesting storyline. This is one of the best games i've ever played and partly because of this I think the only small bad point id have to give is that the game is a little short....but you probably won't find this if you are new to playing the godfather games.

I love the Godfather films, so I tried out the games a few years ago. And I can't stop playing them. This, like the first game, is extremely addictive. Overall, the story is repetitive to the first game in many ways, and the whole objective of the game really is too take over all the business, rackets, etc, in the game. The story is very good in this game, graphics are good, and the characters are decently portrayed.I do recommend this game alot. Even though the objective repeats throughout the game, it still manages to keep you glued to the game. There are many more features then the first game, and you act out as a Don, which brings lots more features and options. You run your own family, you can recruit different people who have different skills, suited to your purpose. For example, to crack a safe, you'll need a safecracker. The game feels alot more realistic, compared to the first game. However, there are some notable flaws.• People claim the game is "unfinished", and in some cases I agree. The story is good and well created, but you can't help but notice the problems that this game has. Only small, but you know there there straight away. I won't list them, cause I don't want it to affect this review, as the game overall is good.I recommend you play the first game, to get an overall view. But, as a sequel, there is hardly any relevant notices that you can make from the first game.

I should probably preface this by saying I am a huge Godfather fan. I completed the first Godfather game on the xbox and loved it. So when this came out I had to play it. After reading some of the major reviews that came out with average scores I was a bit wary, sequels are easily ruined by changing up the winning formula of the first game but thankfully all the changes in Godfather 2 are for the betterment of the experience. The new Don mode is fun and wasn't nearly as cumbersome or experience breaking as other reviews had me expecting and gives a unique aspect to the game which seperates it from every other gta-clone.On the whole its a very competent sequel and worth it for anyone to at least try it,chances are good you'll love it too.The achievements aren't rediculously hard or time consuming yet not completely without effort to make them feel worthwhile. The only thing I would say is it was a little short, deffinitely left me hungry for a sequel!

I bought this game because I really enjoyed the first Godfather game.It is still pretty similar, but the cities are smaller and you see it from a Dons view.I was unsure at first when I started the game, it seemed to easy. But the further you get into it, the harder it is to kill members of other families and to retain all of your businesses. The weapon controls are easy to get on with and are accurate enough. It seems a bit repetitive at first, a lot of the businesses are similar and favors that you complete for people are more or less the same. The best parts are when you blow up rival families Compounds and exact revenge on families that have blown up your businesses. The only thing that really got on my nerves was the driving. The cars spin out of control too easily, so I'm glad that you fly between cities via Airports rather than drive and drive and drive like in the first game.Overall, its addictive good fun.

If you like the Godfather films, you should definitely buy this game! (likewise, if you haven;t seen the films, you should see them first) The storyline of this game (and the first game) closely follows that of the first two films, so it is first class. The combat in the game is also great fun, and very satisfying - the developers obviously put a lot of effort into creating particularly brutal finishing moves for each weapon. Personally, I preferred the gun combat from the first game, but that doesn't mean this game is lacking much.In my opinion, these games are much better than the GTA series, particularly in the "career" aspect, as you actually control your empire and your family/crew in this game, and there is a reasonable character development system in the Godfather games. If you are a fan of crime/gangster films, and like brutal combat, you will love this game!

Arrived quickly and well packaged from Amazon. Great game, which allows you easily control your family and make progress through 3 different cities, each with different aspects to the main story. Good game for people who enjoy a shooting game with a little bit of strategy because the 'Godfather View' allows you to control all aspects of your family and eventually your cities.Brilliant story, which gets you into the action within the first 10 minutes of play, starts with you creating your character and then a cut-scene explaining the start of the game.I would recommend this game to everybody, it's great fun and easily played over and over again, in slightly different ways.If you've always liked or even wanted to be the Godfather, now is your chance to join the family ... Enjoy !!

This is a really good game, bought it cheap from a private seller which was quick and good service. The game is very fun however a little hard to get to grips with the controls at first but once I got the hang of it I was away. The game allows you to build your own family, control your empire and attack those familys against you, the Don view is very well put into the game allowing you to monitor everything in your family and the wolrd around you allowing you to put hits out on people and attacking (or destroying) a rival familys racket. Very good game overall, strongly recomended.
