I really like this calculator and have used it daily for years (purchased around 2006). If I took it out of my desk drawer and it was dark in my office, I turned on my desk lamp and held the calculator and it powered immediately. It even powers when held against those pathetically weak energy efficient light bulbs.My cat loves to jump on my desk when I am working (which is daily) and knocked this calculator to my hard tile floors more times than I can count over the years mostly without the protective blue cover on it. Today, I accidentally knocked it the ground again and while the calculator lit up, the buttons would not respond so I sadly went looking for another calculator.Low and behold,as I settled on another calculator after much research) this model came back to life. It works fine. This is one tough calculator and I just purchased another one to use while grocery shopping to compare price per unit (Larger sized items are not always cheaper)I buy EVERY SINGLE THING BUT GROCERIES ON-LINE so I am constantly researching anything I want to buy from soap to cars (keeping like items (example bicycles) on an excel spreadsheet separating individual bicycle models by a black line and putting related items bike horns, bike baskets, etc on different sheets on the same bike excel spreadsheet) and once I settle on what I want to buy i use THIS CALCULATOR to figure out the BEST PRICE(adding S/H and tax plus base price and subtracting any savingswatch dot com ebates dot com or coupon savings and then figure out TOTAL COST PER ITEM and buy the best price. This calculator gets a serious work out.LOL now I have a calculator research spreadsheet and I didn't need it. Also, buy Purina Friskies Party Mix Original Crunch, 6-Ounce (Pack of 7) on Amazon using the auto ship (pick anywhere from sending every month to every 3 months or longer). Purina Friskies Party Mix Original Crunch, 6-Ounce (Pack of 7) are MUCH cheaper buying this way online than buying in a grocery store.PROs1. Blue case to protect it when stored in desk. The hard plastic blue front case cover easily attaches to the back of the calculator when using the calculator so the cover cannot get loat. not The cover stays in place also. The blue case cover is narrower than the white calculator so it doesn't make it wider when holder the calculator in your hands.2. TOUGH3. Going strong after YEARS of daily use4. Keep my grocery buy list inside the cover. (I write small and use both sides of paper and use 4 pieces of paper) I NEVER lose my lists now.5. The cover keeps the calculator safe in my purse and it the buttons are not so small that I hit the wrong ones while quickly doing calculations in a rushed grocery store isle.6. NEVER have to worry about buying batteriesPro or Con Depending on What Someone Needs in a Calculator.1. Not for anything but basic math functions but is fine for my needs.January 2020 - It finally died. The number 2 and number 5 no longer work. It died a very old age. I had been using another type of calculator that was just a little bigger and had the screen that was on a tilt. I got to the point where I felt it was just a bit large for me (I am only 4'9"). I liked the Texas Instruments name and the price, so I ordered it. When it came, I started using it right away and really liked the design, and how easy it was to pick up and use. I do not like the fact it does not have an off button as my other one did, and sometimes I hit a button below the one I wanted to hit. On the whole, I do like it better, and am glad I had chosen it.

Just the right size for a shirt pocket. The removable cover is a bit of a nuisance though. Plus the rounded shape of the back side lets it rock from side to side when on a flat surface. And I really question the modified coke bottle design of the sides. All in all it's a good value for the money despite the ergonomic shortcomings.

My very old TI-1706 finally started having problems so I ordered the latest version. Works just as well although I'm not as happy with the way this oen is designed. My old one was rectangular and slipped into a plastic sleeve--took up less space and I didn't have to make sure the cover clicked into place.

This is the one if you're looking for a handy calculator to balance your check book. I bought a Texas Instruments calculator for that purpose in the seventies, and it just recently gave up. If this one lasts that long, it will outlast me. It's easy to operate, and easy to read. Highly recommended!

Bigger than expected. I was expecting a pocket calculator. These pictures are a comparison next to what I consider a pocket calculator. It would have been 5 stars if slightly smaller but it will work for what I am using it for. Also, I would like to point out that this is not what is pictured.

Was looking for a simple calculator to keep in my work bag so I wasn’t always pulling out my phone. Things get jumbled around in there so the hard cover is perfect - it snaps on the back when you’re not using it so you don’t lose it!

Sleek and handy. Feels good in hand. Easy touch buttons. I leave it set facing the window direction for indirect sunlight. There is no compartment to open for battery replacement, which probably never will be needed. Good value.

Great calculator! I have one that has served me well for over 4 years.Unfortunately, I waited a really long time for it to be delivered and it’s the wrong color. I added a pic - the advertised purple buttons are blue :-(

I've owned quite a bit of Texas instrument products and this is a great portable calculater at a great price. I needed this specific on for my health calculations class and it's been working great!

Love the size and the fact that it is solar, it also has a nice protective cover to prevent damage and to preserve life. The price was good and the service and shipping were excellent. Thank you.

This was surprisingly hard to find; a basic cheap solar calculator without all the extras.Cover does the job and keeps it protected while carrying in a bag of various other junk.

I thought I'd get what was shown on the picture for this item, but it was a different color. It works. I'm happy with the item, but it just caught me by surprise.

Good value. Easy to use. Slightly larger than the earlier model which saw me through my working years. If this one lasts as long, I will be well served.
