Tamiya saw sense and re-issued the Racing Buggy Sand Scorcher almost as it was 30 years ago. My mum saved up and bought me one of the originals back in the day and I loved that car.... When I heard they were re-releasing, I was so excited and I'm in my forties now! There are one or two changes such as the inclusion of ball bearings for the wheels rather than the inferior bushings, the rear light clusters are solid plastic (strangely, the clear lenses are still included, but you'd need to dremel off the solid plastic ones...), there is no resistor as an electronic speed controller is usually supplid/used now etc. But it is still aluminium. GRP, injection plastic-all the proper heavy duty parts, not flimsy plastic as the latter buggies were and it's the authentic Baja Bug body style. You'll need a battery, RC control system as usual but what an awesome kit and what memories to re-live! I note that it's unavailable now-I wonder if they'll start to apreciate the way the originals did (up to $3K on Ebay!)

The Tamiya Sandscorcher released back in 1979 was to be an iconic r/c car and to this day has a huge loyal following fan club. Tamiya re-released the Sandscorcher back in 2010 and was another instant hit with r/c fans. This iconic r/c car is becoming very collectable and the its value is rising due to its popularity so grab one if you can (if you are lucky enough).

A lot of fun to build. With options to make numerous different variants.Once built there are hours of fun racing this car over all sorts terrain, without doing to much damage. the more you use it the better it looks. This is an RC model is not for life of a shelf queen.

This car kit is a good example of Japanese manufacturing made by Tamiya who always make quality kits. The various metal and plastic parts are all made to a very high standard and the nuts and bolts and other hardware parts are all excellent. Highly recommended.

Awesome retro radio control model, great quality and stunning looks. It’s very similar to the ‘70’s kit so not as mechanically advanced as modern buggy kits, but really sturdy metal construction and spares will be available for years to come.
