At just under 13 pounds (at the time of writing) the STABILO Pen 68 Fibre Tip Pens Desk Set is a good buy and well worth the cost. (At the recommended cost of just under £30 they are not worth it) Pure and simple. The questions is 'Are they any good?'.They are excellent apart from one possible flaw for certain peopleThe colours are bright and stand out well. The tips of the pens are a medium giving a 1mm line of solid colour. They are water based inks so will, thankfully, wash out if you are unlucky to mark your clothes and the like, so they are an excellent and safe choice for children. The ink is odourless too so they are far better than those terrible, chemical smelling cheapo ones you can buy.The pens themselves are very forgiving too if you leave the caps off. The makers claim the caps may be left off for 24 hours before the tips dry out.But as an ex Primary teacher a simple trick to revive the pens if they do dry out is to turn them upside down overnight in a glass of water. This trick often 'Lazurus like' brought dried up pens to life.Niggles? The pens are very thin about the size of a normal HB pencil. As a person who suffers from Arthritis in his hands they can be difficult to control. Likewise some under six year olds would be better with a set of thicker barrelled pen set which develop control much better. The pens are 1mm which means they are better for art and detailed work rather than 'filling in' so again not for younger children or people that like to use the pens for those colouring in books. The inks bleed so you need to ensure they dry before using another colour next to it.The pens do have a lot of good points (if you will pardon that expression). The barrels and tops are colour coded in bright vibrant colours so make choice easy unlike some makes which have dull coloured shells or, worse still, have identically coloured barrels. The pens are hexagonal * and flat so don't roll away when you place them down on a flat uneven surface. The pens come with a really useful holder that is robust and bright in red and blue. With a simple grip and slight push to depress the grips the clear top slides off leaving a neat little holding base that keeps all the pens on show in a tiny space. The case for once is well designed, strong and ingeniously designed which makes the set even better value. If you have a choice of two different sets then this feature would be a clincher, even for an extra cost of selecting this set over others. So there you have it a great set of bright vibrant water based pens with an excellent standing base that is excellent and at a bargain price.Recommended.#Thanks for reading and I wish you great colouring.(Yes I do know they are Hexagonal Prisms but did not want to confuse people).

These medium-tipped pens are great for colouring, nice bright colours and good quality pens as you'd expect from Stabilo. They aren't great for very large areas - definitely medium tips rather than broad tips like sharpies etc. They are a little thick for writing - I'd use a finer tip for diagrams and labels, but you can write with them - you'll get quite thick lines, and they may bleed through thin paper. I find they're suitable for all but the most detailed colouring books, but that does depend on your technique and how hard you press. The best thing about this set is the case. You press the blue button on the front and back and slide off the transparent top section. Then the hinged base opens out to display all the pens, and you can stand it upright on your desk - very neat! Once put away, the case is pretty sturdy and should survive in a school bag if it's not being used as a football. Not the cheapest felt pens, but worth it for an adult or child who will appreciate the good quality pens and the sturdy and well-designed case/stand.

Stabilo make fantastic fibre tip colouring pens. I have been buying them for years because of the quality of the product. You press the large blue dot to open up the container. It is easy to keep the pens in good order which I really appreciate too.I have had a lot of enjoyment with the pens in adult colouring books but also I like to add decorations to cards that I send and these pens have I think the best colours for a reasonable price. They are not the cheapest but I have had only positive experiences.I have seen that some reviews mention pens drying up but so far this has not happened to me. Some of my pen sets are about 5 years old so have been used many times by grandchildren as well as myself. The pens do not dry out if the caps are left off for a few days, always a bonus if you have kids involved. There will always be at least one pen that has rolled under the furniture and remained there for a couple of days. Again because the container is so easy to store the pens it is obvious if any are missing.

The 'STABILO Pen 68 Fibre Tip Pens Desk Set - Assorted Colours, Pack of 20' is a beautifully-presented set of felt-tip pens for drawing/making signs etc. While they are safe for children over 3 years, I would be inclined to say that this is too high quality a pack for child usage. The pens are contained in a clever plastic carry case, which has buttons on the opaque bottom section which release the seethrough top part, which allows the set to open out as the bottom section is hinged. The range of colours is good, and the ink is dense. The pen tips are 1mm wide so can be used for fairly precise work, and although I am unwilling to test this, the inks can apparently withstand 24 hours with the tops left off without drying up.The pens are quite narrow, and as such they will be lower-capacity than other, wider, variants, but they feel good to hold and the Stabilo hexagonal shape gives a secure grip.A slightly costly set, but worth it for the quality and presentation. Recommended.

I got these for my children to use and they've been having a good time with them. The pens pass the test of still working after the 2-year-old has put them in his mouth. They also claim to stay usable after 24-hours without the cap on which is useful for us where the pens often end up without their lids. There is a peach colour which is always useful but sometimes overlooked. They come in a nice plastic case that you can keep your pens in if you want. The bottom of the case separates from the top and unfolds so that you can have all 20 pens in a row. The pens are hexagonal so that you can grip them well.On the downside maybe is the white pinstripe design on the pens which I don't like too much because I am used to felt/fibre tip pens being solid colour designed. But these are still good pens.

This set of 20 felt tip markers has been a great addition to our daughter's colouring boxes collection. She just loves to draw and colour, so this set has come in handy for her.The first thing to say is that I love the case they come in. They are very easy to store both while you are drawing and after you finish. It is very compact too so it fits anywhere. The colours are very vibrant too and having a set of 20 gives a lot of options if you are interested in having more than your usual red, blue, pink, etc... The tip is on the thinner side, but it is strong and doesn't break easily. We also tested the claim 'it doesn't dry out if you leave the cap off for 24hrs' and it turns out to be true.In fact, we left it off for a couple of days with no problems. Highly recommended!

My 10-year-old daughter is an avid artist, so when I was offered these pens on the Vine Programme, I thought she would love them. They are nicely presented in a quality plastic box that feels like it will last well, assuming you don't stand on it or something. It's clever too, in that it can open out when the kid is removed to present all your pens in a row, standing vertically or horizontally, ready for use.The tips are sort of a fine medium, thicker than the 'Fineliner 88' range, and a good thickness for filling bodies of colour or a broader (~2mm) outline. The colours are rich and vibrant, the pens are lovely to hold, and feel top-quality, as you'd expect from Stabilo.Highly recommended.

These are good quality pens which is as expected from a company like Stabilo. The nibs aren't ultra fine, nor are they thick so the user has a finer control over the area to be coloured than when using a thicker pen without having to spend ages filling in which would happen with a finer nib.I think the range of colours is good, perfect for the main use I'll put them to which is mind mapping and colour coded revision/presentation notes.I like how the lid flips off and the pack acts as its own stand with the pens held firmly ready for action, though like some other reviewers I did find the lid rather difficult to get off at first. This latter point makes them 4 star rather than 5

I really like these pens, the box is nice and sturdy for taking them around with us and opens up to fan the selection of pens in front of you - very pretty! :) It can be a bit of a wiggle to get the pens back in properly, need a firm push down, same for the kids but they are a lovely size for crosshatch colouring. Fatter that a fine liner but thinner than a normal felt tip and lovely and smooth to use. Seems to be a lot of brown and greys in this selection, I would have preferred more brighter colours but I can usually find one close to what I want. Will definitely appeal to stationery geeks.

This pack of 20 coloured STABILO pens is fantastic. The colours are bright and they are lovely and smooth in use. Both my sons use them quite a lot and even the left-handed son hasn't noted any problem with smudging...which can sometimes be an issue with pens that don't dry quickly. The pen colours are generally fairly close to the colours on the body of the pen.The packaging is quite clever I think. It opens out to allow easy access to all the different pens but then folds away again in a jiffy to allow for easier storage. All in all these pens get the thumbs up from all the family.

Impressed with these. I ordered several different types of felt tips recently, and like this set the best. The colours are intense and bright and provide excellent coverage. A good range of colours. I could wish for a broader range of colours but then I probably need to buy a larger set... Also, some of the colours are not the same shade as on the barrel (e.g. the lilac is much darker than the barrel) so do check them before using. It comes in a box that stands upright so the pens can be easily displayed while ou are using them, which I've found useful.

Firstly I love the way these pens are packaged, in a hard plastic storage case which opens up like a book to display the pens.. The colours are bright and vibrant and do not soak through to the underside of your paper. There is every colour you could possibly need and with a fine 1mm tip are perfect for colouring, drawing, writing.I am using mine for adult colouring and they work really well whether it be in large blocks of colour or the finer more intricate bits. These pens do not dry up if you accidently leave off the lid up to 24 hours.

This Stabilo pen desk set comes in a very nice carrying case. You can pull the plastic cover off and then open the red base, so you have a stand of twenty pens that are easy to access. The stabile pen is a well known brand. The pens are long and thin. If you like a chunky pen they may be a bit thin in the hand. The nibs are medium thickness with a soft tip. They would not be good for very fine designs or drawing but they do give a nice line and good colours. I'm sure they would make a good present for someone who likes mindful colouring.

Great compact set of lovely colouring pens. Bought for my budding artist daughter who can spend hours drawing and colouring and she loves using them for all sorts of drawing techniques. The case is an added bonus as it not only keeps the pens in good order but when open, the lid flips right back so the case can be used as a pen stand. The colours are nice and vibrant, and consistency good when colouring larger areas. Bought these after having a good experience with a Stabilo pen set previously and very happy with these again.

These are great, perfect for adults that want to use them for colouring or writing or whatever, but I wouldn't buy for a young child as they don't need something so expensive and high quality. It's a shame that there isn't more choice of colours but most of the ones that are there are pretty and the outside colour is a good representation of the colour that comes out. I like the holder too, although it takes up a fair bit of room to display them like that it does make it easy to use and importantly, not loose!
