I've been a Spyro fan since the first, so I eagerly awaited this PS2 one and forked out to buy it as soon as it was released. I can't help wishing I'd waited 'til it went down in price a bit!As far as the graphics go, it's stunning! There's all sorts of brilliant effects like grass that moves as 'you' walk through it and weather effects like fog which make things a bit more interesting (even if it does reduce visibility too much at times). However, I think that in the effort to make it look good they've sacrificed too much in the game play. The first thing you should know is that it's nearly impossible to play using the direction buttons. It's very slow to respond, the turning circle is almost non-existent and it's generally just a pain in the neck. It's obviously been designed with the joystick in mind and, once I figured that out, game play improved - a bit. Even using the joystick, it's far from perfect. It's very sensitive, turning far too much with just a tap. Your best bet is probably to switch between the stick and the buttons depending on what you're trying to do.There's other niggles too. It's extremely difficult to make jumps that involve hovering. There is a trick to it (you've got to wait to hover until the very last moment, when it looks like you've practically bumped into the side of the object you're trying to land on) but even knowing that, it's not easy. Spyro will to come to a complete stop if you try to make too tight a turn, which can be very annoying and waste a lot of time. Also, the camera is very slow to follow (whatever you have it set to - there's not much difference), sometimes not bothering at all so you have to centre it yourself. This can be more than just annoying if you're surrounded by enemies!Another thing is its tendency to go into slow motion at the most inconvenient moments. It happens less in wide open spaces unless there's lots going on, but in corridors and small spaces it's best to keep to the centre if you don't want it to slow down. The worst part is the over all size of the game. I got to over 50% after just two plays. There's only one world and not many levels. There are a number of sub levels but these are just the usual flying or challenge stages. It's probably just as well though, because it takes forever to move between them. All the Spyro games have been big and I expected the upgrade to PS2 would have a corresponding increase in size - instead it's shrunk amazingly. That said, I haven’t finished it yet (I lent it to my sister) so there could be surprises in store that will lengthen it, however unlikely! After all that though, I've got to say I enjoyed it immensely! Some of the challenge levels are great fun, like the slalom ice slide and the different vehicles you get to play in like a tank and a spitfire. The flying levels are as good as ever, with a choice of time trial or race in each one. The different breath weapons are good too, as long as you remember to change it in time! Aside from everything else, the game play is much the same as in the others making it very worthwhile! If you enjoyed the other Spyro games, you'll probably like this one too, even though it's no where near as good as the others. It's definitely worth having, but probably not at this price - wait 'til it comes out on platinum!

This is the forth game in the 'spyro' series and the first on a next generation console, it doesnt dissapoint.Where do i start? The plot is basically about spyro and sparx (his talkin dragonfly) off to save the world again from some evil doer (namely ripto back again) , someone has stolen all the other dragonflies , and spyro's gone to get em back . Ok, so its not a price winning plot, but thats not what the spyro series is about, its about the gameplay and wide amount of 'mini games' on offer. The new challenges involve riding hilarious vehicles like , a spitfire and a tank! The graphics are a great leap from the first game with bigger scenarios and great cartoonyish character animation. There is a lot to get through ,25 levels , mini games in each of them , collect all the gems , collect all the dragonflies so it could keep you going for monthes and if youre a fan of the series you might recognise a few freindly faces and a few nasty ones too! This isnt a perfect game though , i do have a few niggles for it, for one, except for the graphics, it isnt such of a leap from the last game and collecting the 1000s of gems can get very linear. But except for those things, im very impressed with the final product , and it will have a proud place in my PS2 collection.

Having played only one previous Spyro and loving it, i thought this was quite fun. I didnt have any problems with clunky graphics or crashes (yet). OK, so for those who love big action fighting games with amazing enemies and graphics this is not such a good game, but for those who just like simple easy games and aren't huge gamers, i'd definatley say its worth it.Good points:1. its not too hard but it can be challenging (some of the tasks are quite hard but general play is fun).2. Its not too over the top - i liked it because it was simple and i dont like playing hugely difficult games3. If you like exploring there are lots of interesting things to look at4. Time trials are challenging but funBad Points:1.Does take a while to load, although some people are saying that it takes more than 4 minutes, thats a lie. On my first edition second-hand PS2 it took no longer than 2 minutes (usually less) to load. Where is your patience?2. Some tasks are a bit repetitive3. Enemies aren't exactly that exciting.4. Sparx is the most annoying creature ever to talk to.. whats the point in giving him a voice if he can't speak anyway!Overall i'd say the good points outweigh the bad points if you want a fun, enjoyable and simple game to play every now and again.

The game itself is brilliant , i love it ! its had some glitches but they weren't major. Although the graphics are not very 'modern' the scenery is amazing and actually pretty beautiful. Im 14 years old and ive had this game for about a week and the first day i got it i played on it for 6 hours straight , no joke ! im now pretty much addicted. ive had this game for about a week and im almost positive ill get all the other games. The game was a bit confusing at first but still a great game and not too hard to play. Was not at all impressed with delivery since i had to wait nearly 2 weeks for it to arrive !!!...not happy about that. Overall ,i really do like this game and would recommend this game to anyone who likes games that are almost 'out of this world' and have an unrealistic scenery and also doesnt like endless fighting games. so yeah, hope my advice was helpful . buy this game ! :)

This may not be the best Spyro game in the world. but at least it's better than those stupid Legend of Spyro ones! there are good bits in the game like the speedways and the slides. I can be on those for hours. spyro and his friends have to go and rescue the baby dragonflies that ripto accidentally scattered across the dragon realms. You still get to collect gems like the other original spyro games. there are catches such as long loading times. But look at the bright side, at least you have time to get your self a chocolate bar from the fridge!

I am 8 years old and i thought this was an exciting game, good graphics, good enermies, good everything! But it sometimes crashed when i got up the swirly- thingy to Cloud 9 and when i was running down the hallway in Dragonfly Dojo. The other thing was the dragonflies, they gave me a pain in my neck because they fly so fast and they make stupid faces when they say "na na nanana".A very good game for kids, not adults who may get bored.

This game is just as good as its predecessors. The great mixture of colour, simple but enjoyable gameplay, many wide-ranging levels, and now incredible graphics make Spyro a must-get game. If you played the previous games then you will like this one even more, and if you are new to the series, then you will be in for a treat.
