Any previous SimCity player will be able to dive straight into this new conversion - the zoning, buildings and disasters are all immediately recognizable. It's closest in gameplay to SimCity 3000, but time has moved on since this game so the graphics, music and gameplay are superior on the Wii version. Differences? Advisers are now 'hired', allowing you to dispense with them completely if necessary. Some civic buildings (e.g. airport, colleges, large parks) are 'unlocked' by building other objects of the same type or by completing in-game 'missions' - i.e. flying overhead. For those not familiar with the series - SimCity is the best existing city-building simulation, with some fun features so that it isn't as dull as I imagine city planning to be in real life! But balancing the budget, setting taxes and providing services such as healthcare, education and public transport are all important. Zoning the correct balance of residential, industrial and commercial property zones will make sure that you can enjoy seeing a city grow where people have jobs. Low-density eco-village? No problem. Thriving commercial metropolis? The choice is yours to make. 'Disasters' are a nice element of the game, and enjoyed greatly by players - if things are going *too* well, unleash a Godzilla-like monster to destroy all your hard work. Comprehensive tutorials should allow immersion straight into the gameplay experience without reading a heavy manual or hint book.Loses one star for the fiddly control mechanism, but otherwise there is still no finer simulation game, and one that's recommended to anyone who enjoys open-ended gameplay.

Having played Sim City on the PC a few years ago (both myself and my son) we were hoping for more of the same. I thought it was a really good game to get kids thinking about what it takes to get and keep a city running. You have to build the city infrastructure (electricity, water supply, waste disposal etc) whilst balancing your budget and keeping your population happy ! When we were out in the car once, my son (who was around 5 at the time) once asked "is this a heavy industrial zone ?" which was somewhat amusing but did prove he was learning something from the game. This is the same basic game on the Wii platform. It therefore retains all the good, challenging and addictive elements of the game, but there are a few gripes. The graphics aren't as clear as I would like (although we are still on a CRT) but the navigation seems particularly difficult with a Wii remote because of the fine control needed to lay out areas, make roads etc. This was not as much of problem on a PC with a mouse. It does improve with practice, but is very frustrating at first. It is a complex game and requires some application and comprehension! Perhaps for that reason, the fact that he gets more instant gratification from other Wii games, and the difficulties with navigation, my son has only played this version once so far (he is now aged 9). The one thing that he did find instantly entertaining was the disasters option which allows wanton destruction of your city - he particularly liked the dinosaurs !Overall, I still think it is a good game, but is does require patience and a steady hand on the Wii remote !

I used to play this on my old desktop PC, but I recently upgraded to a Windows 7 laptop. As SimCity is not yet available in Windows 7 format, this Wii version was the next best thing for someone who was addicted to his old game.Although the Wii control is not as accurate as using a mouse, you have to have a steady hand for placing certain items. This is a game for those with patience who like to see their city grow from nothing, although the financial side of it can be a little frustrating. And you can play with multiple (and adjoining) cities simultaneously. You have to search your adviser tips for clues on how to proceed, hidden among some quite bizarre comments!

I've been playing and have been a big fan of the sim sity since it first come out on the pc. I just got this game a couple of days ago and have to admit the controls on this game is a bit chewy, pointing the controller at the screen takes somewhat getting used to, but then again ive just bought my wii a couple of weeks ago as well. If you're a fan of the sim city games then I would recommend you at least give this game a go, its not brilliant but its not on the average side either. I do think given a chance i will enjoy this game.

This was bought as a gift for an 11-and a 13-year-old, who love it. They can build whole cities and then mercilessly destroy them in Godzilla attacks and start again, without the mess caused when they do the same thing in Lego. I was bit wary about buying this type of product used, but it arrived in a reasonable time, fairly well packaged and in very good condition, at a fraction of the price it would have cost to buy it new.

I really enjoyed this game, prefer Simcity than the other sims games as you don't have to keep checking on your sims to see if they need fed or toilet etc, and can get on with building a city and then have fun destorying it and starting again.

Love the Sims games on Wii and this one is probably the best so far. Bit slow to get moving and it is a shame that you cannot just crack on with the cities already set up - these can't be saved.Really good at spending a lot of time on.

Motion controls take a bit of getting used to, and can be infuriating when trying to draw out areas for building but, with perseverance, this is a very rewarding game. Reminds me a great deal of Sim City on the SNES.

This game doe's what it says on the tin, but I found once I had played the game a few times I seemed to run out of ideas and started to get bored with it

A dumbed down version of SimCity, great if you're a beginner to the series and just want to get a feel for what the PC versions have to offer.

Not as good as the PC version but this particular item was very good value for money and my kids are very happy with it.
