Second Sight achieves what a number of other games try to do - it's a good, solid psychic 3rd person shooter. You play John Vattic, a psychic waking up in a lab with a huge headache and no memory of the last few years. Gradually things unfold, with time shifting between a few years / months ago, and the present day and you find out what is going on.It's a relatively old game today, but I still very much like the graphics engine - it looks good, not overly dated, the characters move well and the snow looks gorgeous. It's third person, which can lead to some annoying perspective problems, but generally it's not too bad. You scroll the mouse wheel up to select weapons and down to select psi powers,and it works out fairly well.The aiming system is ok - you hit right mouse button to enter aiming mode and then swing the dot around within the reticle to aim. It's not as intuitive as, say, Gears, but given its age, it does the job. The guns themselves are good - the sniper rifle has an autozoom, which comes in very handy. The levels can be tricky, but they are also very short, and because it uses a checkpoint system (with no intra-level loads possible) this is usually a good thing!There are irritations, but it's generally very satisfying to play, juggling your psychic abilities - projection, possession, healing, invisibility, telekinesis and a psychic attack, with stealth and aggression. The ending is satisfying and the game is overall very easy to get used to. Whilst it's not the best game you'll ever play, it's a good solid bargain find.
