I bought this game on the strength of Free Radicals reputation with the Timesplitters series: games which I've enjoyed immensely. Second Sight employs the same graphical style as Timesplitters; characters are rendered in a bold, cartoonish style, quite different from the realistic graphics of most games. You'll either love them or hate them. Personally, I love them and they remind me a little of Freedom Fighters. Because of this style of rendering, the game doesn't have the look of -- for example -- Splinter Cell, with overly dramatic lighting effects. In fact, lighting doesn't really figure much in Second Sight, but because of the cartoon-like look, I didn't find this an issue. To me,the graphics still looked original and fantastic. The gameplay consists mainly of stealth, but with the added twist that you can call upon your psi-powers to help you out. For instance, you can project your astral body into unexplored areas without fear of detection from guards as they can't see you. If you've got the time, you can even possess a guards body and then turn him on his colleagues. A handy way of clearing out the area ahead. Although, once your psi-energy is drained, you are pulled from his body. If the guard whose body you were in spots the dead bodies, he'll raise the alarm. However, there are ways around this as you'll find out when playing the game. There's also a charm power, which allows you to move physically from one area to another whilst remaining invisible. However, you have to be quick and avoid contact with guards. Other powers include Telekinesis (moving objects and people with your mind), the very useful Healing whereby you can restore your health (and the health of others) to maximum and Psi-Blast which comes in two flavours: a concentrated blast of mind-energy at a single foe and a sort of explosion which stuns everybody in the immediate vicinity. If you fancy a change of pace, you can always break out the weaponry which can be gathered from dead bad guys. Things such as handguns, SMGs, sniper rifle etc. In some missions, before you get your psi-powers, you'll come to rely on these. At first the story seems a touch cliched. You're a man who wakes from a coma in a medical research facility with amnesia and must figure out what the hell is going on. The levels comprise of your struggle to remember your past and fully playable flashbacks to a covert mission in Siberia. However, by the end of the game, I'd fallen in love with the story as it improves dramatically and I found myself genuinely caring for the characters. This is helped along by some absolutely superb voice acting.I hate to end the review on a bit of a downer, but the physics in Second Sight are not quite as good as they could have been. Here and there, things seem to lack weight. You barely have to bump into a chair or a crate and it seems to go flying across the room in some cases. Sounds bad, but you do get used to it. Also, your characters walking down stairs animation is unintentionally funny. He looks as though he's doing a riverdance! When the alarm is raised on some levels, guards pour out of the woodwork in almost astronomical numbers, leaving you no option but to run like hell and hide. A little frustrating at times. Also, the game is relatively short. It took me 16 hours to beat it, although I'm sure other people could beat it quicker in about 11 hours or so.However, if you like stealth, strong characters, strong story, great voice acting and thoughtful, considered gameplay, you can't go wrong with Second Sight.

This is one of those games that just won't end up being a classic like Metal Gear Solid because it lacks those fundamental elements that one can never quite place their finger on, but none the less every minute of this game you will be wondering why you don't hear about this superb game more often.I shall start on the bad to get it out of the way, as there is not much wrong with this fantastic game.1) If you are spotted on some levels, the enemies will mass spawn with no mercy, with literally dozens coming at you at once with shotguns and assault rifles and so on, and this means that on many occasions, after being spotted, it is easier to simply revert back to the last checkpoint than waste your time in a pointless fire fight which you will probably lose,or running around looking for a faraway hiding place. It can get VERY frustrating!2) Checkpoints! In this day and age, with quick saving becoming all the rage, Checkpoints are a thing of the past. And if you get really really far, and then die, only to discover that your last checkpoint was ALL THE WAY back about fifteen minutes ago, it is SOOOOO annoying!!! You know the feeling. I'm sure you've experienced a similar game before. On the other hand, there are a lot of good points that more than make up for the bad ones.1) The story line. Do you like excellent and gripping storylines? If so, then this is the game for you. A fun, conspiracy theory, everyone including the government is after you kind of thing. It is very good, and has an absolute KILLER twist at the end, which made me laugh out loud.2) The psi-powers add a great new addition to an already enthralling game. It would be pretty hard, but if you were good enough with the guns, you could play a lot of this game without your powers at all, proving that they are there to make the game FUN! And the ability to have unlimited heal is just sooooo useful, it is indescribable. And to have a one-hit-kill psi-blast with unlimited psi-ammunition is just great!3) The graphics are cartoony, meaning that the designers could spent a LOT of time on other important things than fine tuning the graphics for maximum realism. They are unique and fun, but still superbly designed, with all the characters having phenomenally realistic movements.4) Psi-powers. They are just great. Can't say too much in case I give anything away. They are just so fun! Lifting up enemies from behind and dropping them into ravines is a laugh, or blasting them thirty feet through the air with a psi-blast is great! All around, a fantastic game. You will complete it reasonably quick though (took me two days of semi-intensive playing). You will come to love the characters, and find that just because your guy looks a little weedy doesn't at all mean that he can't take care of him self, or every single one of the other mothers who are coming after you!

ok, first off imagine metal gear solid in the style of timesplitters.. got that? right now throw in some really cool psychic powers... and you've got second sight.from the first time i beat someone over the head with a box from the otherside of the corridor i was hooked.. as the storyline progresses your psychic abilities grow stronger and you start to really have fun. but it does take some commitment to get to that point.although i would prefer more action, the stealth element is very good. using your charm ability to run past groups of people and willing them not to see you is strangely satisfying, but watch out for security cameras..many times i've ran into a room all stealthed up only to have the camera pick me up and have to run and hide in a locker till everyone forgets about me..in short.. worth getting if you like stealthy games.. for action get psi-ops: the mindgate conspiracy...

Ok I bought this to tide me over till PSI-OPS comes out, But I'm Damn glad I did..As expected from the makers of timesplitters the graphics are slightly cartoony (which I personally think gives a bit of depth) and the gameplay is excellent (I've spent HOURS picking people up using Telekenisis and smashing em against walls or making the guards run away terrified... Is that wrong?!?) but the story is where this game really comes in to its own..I'm not going to ruin the story. But it's one of the most creative plot lines i've seen in a game for a really long time.. Each "level" adds a small bit into the story and compels you to play on.If there was a sixth star i'd give it..A truly GREAT game that i wasn't expecting to get much out of.. BOY WAS I WRONG!!Just click the buy now button and wait!!!

Although graphically-wise the game isn't revolutionary, the story is the strongest element in this RPG/Third-Person Stealth/Shooter. As the game progresses it goes back and forth between past and present, with good story-telling and back-hair rising moments... even a psychiatric hospital with staff management problems! As the player progresses, the psychic powers get gradually unleashed, in step with the demands in both puzzle-solving and tougher enemies, without becoming either ludicrous powerful or too far-out (as if psychic abilities weren't enough!).The controls are sometimes lacking in responsiveness and a scripted AI makes for repetition frustating, but still this is an underdog of a great game, and good buy!

This is a fantastic game. It offers an intelligent story that keeps the player guessing.Gamers should enjoy the good selection psi powers that are developed quickly so, unlike most games, you can get to use all your powers for most of the game.Graphics are good, controls are simple and easily mastered. However, you can't save your progress unless you finish the level but the levels are short enough (yes - there's plenty of them) for this not to be a major problem. You could do a lot worse that spend your game cash on this.

Second sight ia a game that i overlooked when it came in 2004 but because of the 360 games drought i have gone back to playing my good old xbox console.i wanted a game that i could pick up and play and i was not disapointed .second sight has a good story and it is a fun title with decent graphips for the time 2004,i have been playing this game for 11 hour and i am still not completed it so it is not a short game ,plus i got it for under 5 pounds.second is a good fun title and i would recommend this title .

The best aspect of this game is the story. It is one thing to work your way through missions, but to have a storyline that draws you in and makes you want to know what will happen next makes this game an absolute winner. The gameplay is fantastic as well, not to mention the graphics. And the sounds had a couple of chills running down my back. This is a game that will keep you hooked from the beginning right through to the last secons.
