The SEBO Felix that I own was one of the first models to arrive in the UK in 2005 and I bought it brand new. It has been a great vacuum cleaner to use and it still provides excellent suction and cleaning performance. The original filters for my "Sebo Felix Navy" upright however has seen a few different exhaust filter covers for a number of reasons.The original Navy Blue filter cover got covered in white paint one year and was impossible to wash out of the Lycra mix top material that acts as the outer lining for the SEBO Felix exhaust filter. I didn't like the look much but I was more worried that the heat from the Felix vent would make the paint tacky again and mark any stationary walls in the vicinity of where the SEBO vacuum was stored,when not in use. A second purchase of an "Ice Blue" filter cover in 2008 provided excellent protection for the next five years.Earlier this year the Ice Blue filter was beginning to look a bit scratched as well as smell a bit - not nasty or unpleasant but a distinctive dank smell that I used to get from other vacuum cleaners where their micro-filters are concerned. I had already replaced the main motor filter that sits below the bag in the bag compartment of the Felix but soon realised that the smell was coming from the outer exhaust filter. I checked Amazon UK for any of the original dark blue original "Navy" branded SEBO filters that my Sebo Felix is supposed to have, but couldn't find any at the time of purchase.Hence the Pet version which I have bought instead. This is the beauty of any owner who has a SEBO Felix. Due to the colour variations, you can mix and match to your heart's desire instead of going for the colour option that matches the name of your machine. You don't need to have a pet to order this exhaust cover filter if you own any colour SEBO Felix upright vacuum!Out of the box, the filter is very easy to fit to the machine by way of removing the top and bottom ring clamps on the Felix itself and using a blunt knife to ease the old filter out of the double spine at the rear of the Felix. This is easy to remove once the clamp rings have been removed and the new filter simply wraps around the Felix body, feeding it past and through the main carry handle to the side.A big tip here though - before installing the new filter to the Felix, if the plastic body is black with carbon underneath, simply wipe the machine down with a little cream cleanser such as Jif on a damp cloth. This will effectively purge your vacuum cleaner of any past odour that is sticking to the plastic wall of the Felix. Then dry with a towel.After which, the wrap around filter is very easy to fit, even if you might have to be a little patient. This is because the filter has two pieces of material - the outer colour material, which in this "pet version" cover means a black Lycra type mix fabric with silver round circles and a grey surround perma-SMS type fabric underneath that acts as the HEPA/S-Class filter fabric.Typical of SEBO though, the white side of the electrostatic material is the side you clamp and wrap around the body of the Felix with the colour material facing outwards and each end piece has an ingenious plastic strip that holds a magnet inside, which then magnetically bonds to the other side of the filter cover when inserting into the spine at the back of the Felix. Thereafter fit the top and bottom ring clamps and lock-in to ensure that the filter has been properly fitted. All in all, it takes a couple of minutes to change the filter for this Felix and should fit tight, clinging to main body of the Felix once everything has been locked in.Although these filters are washable, I wouldn't particularly recommend this as the electrostatic filter underneath never returns to its original white colour due to the nature of the fabric that is designed to trap dust particles in the air.Where general performance is concerned, I now have a much fresher SEBO Felix before me! Of course the new filter absorbs a lot of odours, but it seems to have made my old SEBO Felix a bit quieter than before, even when suction is adjusted half way.More importantly, it would appear that this Pet version exhaust filter has given my old SEBO Felix "Navy" model a new lease of life in terms of a general look and I am sure you may agree with me, that it doesn't look that out of place!
