Used this to replace original 128gb M.2 Sata III SSD C: drive in an Acer laptop. It was getting a bit full, warning of limited space etc.as I have a number of programmes on it. I bought a Transcend SSD enclosure as well.I had decided to simply clone the old C: drive to the new 500gb SSD using an enclosure and USB cable. You should note that you can download Samsung software to do this. However, I got part way through and the programme advised that the source SSD would be wiped and I was concerned that if something went wrong part way through I would have to re-install the operating system and data. After some research, I installed Macrium Reflect which is free for home users. Set it up,started it and went away for an hour or so and it was all done. When the clone was finished I checked it by booting from the USB drive and it worked perfectly first time so I went on with the physical replacement. Please note that some Windows installations may not allow booting from an SSD so checking it's working properly before dismantling the PC may not be possibleIt was easy to install once I had stripped down the laptop which took a while and was very fiddly. I am not very handy at this sort of thing so had an instructional video running on Youtube on an old machine. It took the tech guy 20 minutes but overall I was fiddling around for nearly 2 hours but that's not Samsung's fault. Once I had access to the old SSD it took only a few seconds to remove it and replace with the new one.I had decided to simply clone the old C: drive to the new SSD using an enclosure and UBB cable. You should note that you can download Samsung software to do this. However, I got part way through and the programme advised that the source SSD would be wiped and I was concerned that if something went wrong part way through I would have to re-install the operating system and data. After some research, I installed Macrium Reflect which is free for home users. Set it up, started it and went away for an hour or so and it was all done and the old C: drive was untouched. When the clone was finished I re-assembled the machine, fired it up and all was good except that the keyboard was dead. Took it apart again, re-attached the keyboard lead (DUH) and all was fine.I am using the old SSD for a system backup so I can rescue the machine in case of emergency. All in all a good purchase.

Bought as a replacement for the 128 GB SSD in my HP Omen, which though less than18 months old was slowing considerably. The larger capacity was needed because of the considerable number of high capacity programmes stored on the primary C drive where processing was taking place was not always sufficient.Initially I could not clone the new SSD using Samsung's recommended Magician software, I was unaware that Magician only works internally when the computer has a spare SSD bay on the motherboard. After raising a query, I was directed to Samsung themselves, who informed me that I needed their Data Migration software which enables cloning to a USB3.0 adapter. Eureka, brilliant, cloned the entire C drive with Windows 10 and all my programmes, leaving me plenty of spare capacity for all processing conversion I needed. The speed of the Samsung SSD was more than 2X that of the original Sandisk using a Benchmark test programme. This begs the question regarding the longevity of SSD's which we are told should be good for ten years average use before significantly slowing. Maybe I use my HP Omen more than is reasonable? My only complaint is that the included information that came with the SSD did not include even brief advice regarding the cloning software, in fact when connected to the USB3.0 adapter the Samsung Magician software identifies the SSD as a non Samsung device, this wasted many hours of looking for a solution until I contacted Samsung. All's well that ends well, I was considering buying another laptop, but now that won't be necessary for a while. I am so very pleased with the result and at such an affordable price.

bought this for a new HP bc400na laptop to replace or compliment the OEM HDD. i wouldn't normally bother writing a review for something like this but it's worth noting a couple of things i ran into and had to figure out myself.my laptop came with a spare m2 sata slot but what wasn't clear was that the socket is actually upside down. the drive actually fitted in either way up so i assumed it went in with the chips and samsung logo visible but it was only after re-assembling and finding the drive wasn't available. i took it back apart and actually counted the pins on the drive and in the socket and realised my mistake.the second issue i had was the drive cloning process using samsung data migration.being lazy i didn't bother with an enclosure and did it with both drives within the laptop figuring i could just change the boot order in bios. what i didn't realise was that the data migration tool actually also clones the drive signature (not the drive id) which confuses the OS and switches off the drive effectivley making it offline and unavailable to boot from. so again after realising my mistake i removed the OEM HDD, re-assembled the laptop (again) and everything then worked perfectly.having dis-assebled and re-assembled multiple times and booted up and shut down each time it really hit home just how slow the OEM HDD really is. i had an 850 evo ssd in my old laptop which had seen a good few years use and i would say this is even quicker.definatelly a must have upgrade for any laptop.

I wanted to have M.2 in laptop, especially having seen exceptional performance in office laptop- which has NMVe. Once I found out my HP Pavilion is having M.2 slot, I decided to give it a go after traversing the YouTube videos & online tutorial.Amazon delivered it product fairly early. Post arrival, installed in quickly in my laptop. At first, it wouldn’t show up directly – you need to ensure SSD drive/partition is active, via windows disk management.I installed both Samsung Magician and Data Migration S/W. Data migration helped me clone the system drive on SSD, as I wanted to keep away from hassle of Win10 re-installation. Once the drive is cloned, ensure the system boots though SSD & not through HDD,by changing boot preference through BIOS.You will immediately notice significant boost in computer performance during boot & performing other activities in laptop. Additional advantage will be seen in battery life as SSD is bound to eat up less power during operations compared to HDD.I did check performance benchmark through Magician S/W with “RAPID Mode” [switch present in magician S/W] on. The output is present in screenshot.Samsung reliability is what made me choose it over other brand and safe to say, I am not disappointed at all. Recommend to anyone who has M.2 Slot in motherboard.

I'm very happy with the purchase. The speed you get varies depending on the size/type of the files you transfer but, overall, it's a fast drive (at least, as fast as its '2.5 form factor brothers').I love the fact that you just plug it in and then you're (almost) good to go. No cables around the case creating a mess or diminishing the air flow. To set it up, all you have to do is go to 'disk management' (right click on windows icon), then right click again on the 'gray area' of the disk then left click on 'new volume.' You then assign a 'drive letter' and a name to it (in my case G, M.2) and you're good to go.I have installed only games in it and so far I haven't experienced any problem.Attachedare a few pictures where you can see an example of a real performance scenario (moving 90GB or 2 games from another Samsung SSD to the M.2) as well as the Samsung Magician 'performance results' and the 2 M.2 drives (860 and 'NVME' 960) installed in my computer.Basically, the only reason to go for the M.2 form factor is to get rid of cables and for the easiness of the installation (plug & play), unless you have a laptop (then other reasons apply, like perhaps weight).System info: Ryzen 7 1700x (OC 3.7) - 16 GB RAM (3000Mhz) - Windows 10.

I use a Acer Nitro 5 with an i5 8th Gen and 12GB of ram. Prior to installation I had a 1TB HDD which for the stroage purposes was great, but I never got anywhere near the maximum capacity I knew if I had a 500gb I would have pleanty of room. So for me this was a bit of a risk, I'd never really, lets say successfully, upgraded a laptop, most of my previous upgrades where out of bordem and just out of interest when I was younger, but I really seen a need for an upgrade in my laptop. So my laptop used to load up in about 20-30 seconds which isnt too bad when you think of it but then it was another 30-40 seconds to really get going which again I suppose os fine but in an age where were used todoing things much faster and expected to be able to do things almost instantly with technology I knew where was definetly an opportunity for it to become fast. So I installed this SSD and transferred Windows 10 to it, which was a little tricky but its easy to find a video on YouTube to find out how to do it. With all of this done my laptop now starts in about10 Seconds max and 100% ready to go. programs open faster and games play that little bit more smooth, I also added an extra 4gb of RAM which defiently helped.

I have a HP Envy laptop that is about 3 yrs old and shipped with a 128GB Samsung drive. Its been great, but 128GB was a bit on the stingy side and I was getting to the point where I was having to free up space just to get updates installed. The Samsung EVO 850 500GB was a great combination of price and performance.Cloning the disk was straight forward. I had purchased a caddy for this task, and using Macrium Reflect, cloned the disk. Opening up my laptop took the longest! With the SSDs swapped round, and laptop re-sealed, I pressed the power button and it just worked. The only thing I didn't do in Macrium was to extend the drive. I did this afterwards and I now have a capacious SSD again. In total, including unboxing everything, it took about 30 mins to get everything done. The disk performance has been superb and the old disk is just waiting to be attached to my RPi.

Not much to add - does as expected. I would add the free Samusng data migration software was simple to download and made cloning my existing M.2 hard drive a doddle.I used a Sabrent SATA M.2 USB3 enclosure (£10 odd - result), slotted the EVO into into it and plugged into the USB on my laptop. Started the Samsung Data Migration software and it immediately found my existing drive and the EVO - 2 steps later and it's cloning. Worked at around 20mb/sec if on interest and took around 90 mins to clone 100Gb.Popped the EVO into the laptop and hey presto - very surprised it all worked so easily.

The difference in speed between this and my conventional HDD is night and day. My system boots up in less than 10 seconds and programs open in an instant. One of the best upgrades I've ever done. The card is easy to install, however, be aware it doesn't come with a securing screw and unfortunately my Acer laptop didn't have one either. I ended up buying one off Ebay. Samsung's Migration Tool is excellent for migrating OS from HDD to SSD and the whole process took less than 15mins. Extremely happy with purchase.

Upgraded wife's 128GB M.2 SATA drive with this, couldn't be simpler, Samsung Migration software included and essential, see my review of the USB to M.2 enclosure essentially to transfer the drives bit otherwise uneventful and straightforward upgrade. Higher capacity drives might be now available but the Samsung line is still the best. Remember to check if you need an M.2 Sata drive or an M.2 NVME drive, look the same but have different notches in the connector

I installed it on Lenovo IdeaPad 110S-11IBR, it worked with no problems, notice you have to go to computer disk management and mark it as a drive, I used Samsung software to migrate my operating system, it didn't work, it moved my operating system but it was running with so many errors, ended up formatting and installing a fresh copy of windows 10, it didn't help that I changed the administrator account name before migrating. but now it is working great

I bought this to upgrade SSD of MacBook Air 2012. I received the item quite quickly, it was well packed, hence no damages at all. After geting all the bunch of extra adapters to install it into Air 2012 and read the information off the old SSD, I found that my old good Mac now is a bit quicker in comparison with original SSD. Well that's a good bonus to much more storage space. I don't like Samsung, but I must admit that they make really great SSDs.

I bought this hard-drive to replace the one in my current laptop. This was because the one in my laptop had become broken due to water damage. The hard drive itself was reasonably priced for the memory it came with. It was easy to install as simply plug and play. What was more difficult was removing back cover from the laptop!Glad to say now that the harddrive is installed laptop is back up and running and generally well pleased!

This tiny thing is very fast ! It was easy to install and my operating system was migrated to it in minutes without a single hitch. It does get a bit hot though, very quickly [over 65 degrees C when under heavy load] but I've read that this is quite normal.I am delighted with this drive and it represents a bargain at this price. If your system can accomodate this device buying it is a complete no brainer, you won't regret it.

Was tired of the bottleneck caused by my HDD so went for this upgrade. Huge speed boost on boot and opening apps, especially when running multiple apps (home PC used mainly for work).Easy to install (used Youtube videos though do have a geeky background) and could be done by most people. Would have gone for a slightly bigger one but didn't want to wait it out - still have 100 gb free space after cloning my existing HDD.
