The (Amazon) purchase experience wasn't perfect, and the Covid pandemic means that third party cases are thinner on the ground than I'd hope, but this is a review of the phone itself. In effect, this phone is the highest spec computer I have ever bought myself, and while I did baulk at the price, I have had three one plus phones in the past five years, only one of which is not (due to an insurance write off, they kept the smashed handset) still in daily use by somebody, so I am confident it will last.SpeedI bought this after using the oneplus 6 daily for two years, and the speed of the 8 Pro is staggering as an upgrade on a phone that to be honest I never thought of as being slow - I only boughtthis now because 5g is rolling out in Dundee and any speed complaints I had with the OP6 were network related - the old phone does, however, feel much less slick now that I have used the new one.I'm expecting to use this phone heavily for three years, and thereafter it will be passed on to a family member, so felt the top spec model was worth the investment - it should be running things comfortably for years.DisplayMy previous oneplus 6 had what I thought of as an exceptionally good screen, but the 90/120hz refresh rate on the 8 Pro and the higher resolution make it seem so rough in comparison - games and videos have a slickness that makes them seem so much more real, and the hit on battery life has been much less than I feared.CameraThe camera has been excellent so far, although I am not one to poke about in the settings for that, so I'm just saying that the out the box settings are excellent - it can, I am sure do much more than I could ever ask of it in that regard.Battery and chargingCharging speed on my previous Oneplus 6 was incredibly fast anyway, and the battery life still excellent two years on. This phone charges even faster, and even with the highest battery drain screen resolution and refresh (using automatic brightness level), playing about with my new phone even more than I normally would, I'm getting 6 hours plus before having to top up the charge.Replacement/spare warp 30 chargers for the newer generation of phones are hugely expensive, but time phone still takes an almost as fast charge from the older generation of oneplus dash chargers, so I will wait till I leave another of them on a train before buying an extra warp charger or the wireless charging Dock!SoftwareI love the less-is-more approach tha oneplus take to their phone software - you can add on any bells and whistles you desire from the play store, but out the box you have a clean, light, fast version of android that runs so smoothly you will wonder why the competition do things any other way.GrumblesThere are a couple of wee niggles, not enough to knock a star off, but worth noting.I would have appreciated the option of a flat glass screen with the top end specs rather than the curved edges - I'm not having problems with touches at the edge where I'm holding it at all, but I don't find the curved edges to add anything functionally and they make getting a good glass screen protector harder. I knowingly bought a phone with a curved screen because I wanted all the specs otherwise, so I refuse to mark it down in a purchase review unless it causes actual problems - just for those that would likewise rather not have the curved screen, be aware that it will take more than 4 days of use to forget that it is there! On a related note, in my case I had to apply my own film screen protector to the phone on unboxing - there were two in my box, but it is a pest to get all the bubbles out, so I dread the day I have to replace the one I have put on now! Previous OP phones have all had them pre-applied, and it may be that mine was omitted by accident, but as Covid is delaying third party options the protection available as standard becomes even more important.Again following on, the included silicone case is OK, and has weathered a couple of waist height drops already but I prefer something tougher feeling and less prone to bending away from the phone to let stuff in - clear silicone lets everyone see the lovely colour of your phone, but also, after just 4 days, lets everyone see just how much fluff there is in your pocket!Overall, this is an amazing phone, at a price markedly lower than its direct competition. There are reports of some display issues using the screen at hi res/refresh but low brightness setting - I haven't experienced them, and apparently a software fix is coming for those that have.If you have saved up the pennies and can tolerate curved screens, this is an astounding piece of kit.

Just arrived today OnePlus 8 pleased I opted for the non pro such perfect size didn't feel justified to spend extra £200 on features I'm not bothered about like wireless charging IP ratings , ok it may have better display but you won't notice a big difference from 90hz to 120hz but the leap from 60 to 90hz is very noticeable and judging by the amount of issues people are having with the pro display I'm glad I didn't get it could be issues with 120hz or just poor panels even though from Samsung but I had S10 lite and that had yellow tint issues as well so I'm not so sure but the fact on the pro you can only drop it to 60hz not 90hz was concerning again for me ,I'm Happy To report I have no such issues with the 1+8 screen its absolutely stunning and tbh you would not really notice it's not QWHD anyway, So smooth nice vibrant colours had no miss touch issues with curve display perfect combination of compact and lightSound is excellent quality hepatic feedback is bang on much improved love the fact has Goole feed now when swipe lift took a few shots on the camera and surprised how good they come out I like macro shooting so having the dedicated macro lense was also a + for me something the pro hasn't and pleased with the results it produced , had a couple of ota updates that fixes some issues another selling point quick updates and lots of development in time if into that , battery life is amazing as well, it didn't feel worth paying an extra £100 for extra 4GB Ram who needs 12gb and the green is pretty meh if had been amber gold or red then I may have , loving the cases included now has printed in a texture NEVER SETTLE looks niceAnd the big selling point for me also is that it's 5G Ready and future proof I see comments about Vodafone not working well I'm on Voxi and there Vodafone and I can confirm absolutely no issues with signal or data worked fine out of the boxNot much else I can say other than there's some nice new features with the oxygen os coming from the 7T some YT reviewers said it's not an upgrade to the 8 I disagree some what much nicer display and form factor and 5G is enough for me to switch to the 8 ,Definitely worth investing in you won't be disappointed

I managed to order the OnePlus 8 pro glacier green early on launch day at the OnePlus special pop up online event so kv had it for about a week now. This is easily the best phome I have ever owned. I sold my Samsung S20 ultra to fund buying the OnePlus as I was truly underwhelmed by it. Plus we in.the UK get the exynos chip in our S20 range which is 30 percent less powerful than.tje Snapdragon 865 they get in the USA. But that's a different story. The screen on the OnePlus 8 pro is stunning, it's made by Samsung so it's going to be great. The colours pop, they're true to life and the screen supports HDR10 plus. The sound from the stereo speakers are the best iv heard on a phone,.they actually produce a small amount of surround sound !And they're loud. The speed and smoothness on.tjis phone is second to none and makes the iPhone feel like a chug along old beast! It's buttery smooth with absolutely no lack, jitter or stutters. Oxygen os is by far the best OS on Amy device and should be the true Google OS. The screen.is curved, more so.thsn on.tjr likes of the Samsung S20 range, but this isn't an issue. I haven't had any accidental touches etc. It also makes the phone more ergonomic and easy to hold. The glacier green grows on you.amd is quite funky but you'll need a case as it's slippy. Because of the matte finish it's not so much of a fingerprint magnet as the shinier coulours. The camera system has been improved and tbh I didn't notice any less in photo quality to my S20 ultra. OnePlus have certainly improved the camera.Charging the phone is a breeze and this phone has one of the fastest wired charging and as far as I'm aware thee fastest wireless charging. Put it this way you can wireless charge this phone quicker than the iPhone 11 does wired! So far iv had no problems, software updates are quick and solid with OnePlus,.second only to Google themselves. The size is right,.the weight is right. It's just a great phone. Ok the price has gone up from previous generations of OnePlus phones. But I personally think it's worth it. It's still 100s cheaper than iPhone 11 pro max or Samsung S20 range.

I've upgraded to this from a Huawei P20 Pro and I'm happy for the most part and I've been daily driving this for a good month since its release now.The design and size takes a little getting used to as the phone is a little taller than I'm used to but this didn't take too long maybe a day or so to adjust.Fits in my man sized pockets just as before, the sloped sides on the screen isn't something I'm totally a fan and can have issues with touch registration because of this, though the software updates have been rolling out fast to help improve on those short comings. The performance is great no complaints for the chipset being used and chews through games and apps without issues.Display is great,I've got mine running at 120hz with the lower res to help with battery life, I'm not all that bothered with the higher res in such a small device. The connectivity is better than the p20 pro, WiFi actually produces some really nice numbers compared and 4G seems to exceed other devices in the same location/network.Not had a chance to test out 5G due to the lockdown but to be honest, I doubt its really a game changer for a mobile phone!Had a little issue with software when a videos audio would keep playing regardless of the app being closed (think it was facebook to be honest, first time I've encountered not being able to close it all) reboot of the phone did the trick. The Camera feels like hot garbage for the most part, it really cannot handle high contrast situations at all, everything is just blown/washed out... other situations with a fairly even exposure, it performs as you'd expect, I think the wide angle seems to have less of an issue with the blown/washed out images with high contrast.Overall a good upgrade from a phone perspective, though I think the camera is maybe on part if not a little less than the P20 Pro... I don't really take many photos with my phone as I use a main camera for that sort of thing, but I think when it comes down to it, I may upgrade earlier when something else comes around.

I upgraded to the OnePlus 8 from the OnePlus 5t and have been using it for about 2 months.Starting with the design, the OnePlus in glacial green looks amazing, it's so bright and and the screen is also very bright and with the curved edges, movies and video content look awesome. The size of the mobile is also great, it's the perfect size for pockets and for use with a single hand. The performance; the speed of the OnePlus is the fastest of any mobile I've ever used. It easily runs games that are heavy in graphics. The camera is also very good. Pictures are clear with good definition between colours. The portrait mode also allows for great looking pictures of people with the use of autofocus. The on-screen fingerprint reader is relatively accurate, but, occasionally it doesn't recognise my fingerprint and if you're using the phone at night in the dark, the fingerprint animation is extremely bright which causes eye strain. The curved screen is great for movies but, accidental touches do occasionally happen, however, this is quite a rare. The battery life is great. I tend to use the mobile for about 5 or 6 hours of screen on-time everyday and at the end of the day I tend to have about 50% of battery remaining, that's while using the more efficient 60hz refresh rate. So for people with high mobile usage, the battery will be more than able to handle it.The charging is quick, it usually takes about 20 minutes to get from 50% to almost full battery. The phones comes with a case, charging plug and a usb type-C charging cord. There is no earphone jack, so to use wired earphones, you will need to either use a usb type-C adapter or alternatively, buy some Bluetooth earphones.Feel free to comment for any other information.?

Saw the specs on this phone and couldn't resist. I've had the Huawei Mate 10 Pro since it launched and going from that (which at the time felt like I'd reached the top of the mountain)For my first OnePlus device, feels like I've reached the clouds. The 120Hz and 60FPS makes streaming crystal clear. I'm choosing to watch movies here rather than on my 4KTV or high-end PC. The sound is profound, I've shown my friends videos from over 2 metres away while outside and they could hear everything very clearly. Full Volume can be a bit bumpy though (but I doubt you'll need it).The battery will absolutely last you all day (usually), but during lockdown I've been charging more than I care to admit. No matter! Warp Charge has my phone back to full in (I think) 45 mins and with Wireless Charging I doubt I'll ever find myself stuck somewhere without battery for long. The back-end camera is amazing for photography. Green and blues are vibrant and visually appealing. The front-end camera does occasionally have some fuzz when it comes to selfies and other objects. Recording video at 4K 60FPS is great (if you use a tripod), unfortunately too much movement can make it stutter. The phone has a specific mode for gaming, while I stick to console - the games I have tested (contest of champions, Pokemon Go, Yu-Gi-Oh) all look better and run faster than ever before.I have seen many OnePlus fans complain about the price, but it in many ways excels the S20 Ultra 5G and the Iphone 11 Max. Both of those devices are reaching the quad-digits, while this has the same performance at a much more reasonable price. It's been a month and with every Oxygen OS update it seems to get better. With enough customisation to make this device truly my own.

If Oneplus add dual speakers I'll buy again. That's what I said before last year's 7 Pro came out. Then it happened, I bought it, and ultimately, the camera was just not as good as I hoped. The 586 wasn't a sensor used well enough on the main camera by any company that included it. That was about my only issue, besides size, for that device. Here we are now, and I unbox a phone just as big, but surprisingly easy to hold with it's narrower form factor. I get my dual speakers just like they added last year. I get my beautiful fast screen, only brighter and now even faster. I get my Oxygen OS, I get my fast charging. And I get cameras that while I'm yet to fully trust, I'm constantly surprised by.It gets the sharpness just right, it keeps up with the GCam ports in low light, it massively improves contrast, HDR and colours. Hell it even takes great selfies again. (Forgive my face). The 586 redeems itself as a more than capable ultrawide option that serves dual purpose as the macro lens. And the 689 main sensor, it delivers. The perfect level of bokeh without the annoying fringing the HMX 108MP sensor has in some Xiaomi devices. Needless to say, I am finally happy again after last year's disappointment.Battery life, whilst great, has randomly dropped a little since the first couple days, not sure if it's to do with the updates I've already been receiving since I got this, but it's certainly as good as needed for a 120Hz display.Design. Display. Performance. Speakers. Battery. Charging. And yes, cameras. This finally does it. It finally stops settling.

whats not to like after being a die hard Samsung fan most of my life the S SERIES and Note line ive have most android phones and this tops them all. the colour is amazing. the stereo speakers blow my note 10 plus out the water the screen that's amazing so bright and clear crisp premium is defiantly on the cards here the charge speed wow. my note 10 plus is 25w charging the one plus is 30w that extra 5w is noticed hugely.UPDATE: I am with Vodafone and had no issues what so ever everything works as it should so this phone is supported with all UK Networks being an unlocked device.never owned a one-plus device before and this had a very high bar to meet its done that alright!highly recommend this.well done one plus the build is premium second to none the colour is more blue then green its unique ? I've been using it for a few days and the phone is so fast the battery life is second to none even at quadhd 120hz slot easier to hold than the note 10 plus line this one plus 8 pro hands down is better than the S20 Ulta this is everything the ultra should of been for £1400 which that price tag is to high. The sound on this well is just amazing best sound I've heard on any smartphone. The camera is amazing to.I feel every smartphone should have the slider switch OnePlus has mute vibrate loud it's so handy. This phone deserves all the hype it can get as it does match it.unfortunately after a little bit of time my device went faulty had to return it.

Good phone and the operating system is clean and customisable, but there are bugs.Optimised charging, which will hopefully extend battery life, doesn't work (it worked once and never again). I'm seeking support from OnePlus for this but as mentioned in my review of a previous OnePlus 7T their support is terribly slow and often fails to understand the problem - which means more wasted time waiting for replies to your clarifications.Horizon light doesn't appear to work. Not a deal breaker but it's a shame as stuff that is included on the phone should just work out of the box!The photochrom camera filter has been disabed in the latest software update but there are methods for reactivating thecamera if you're willing to do a bit of research.Have I warned that OnePlus customer support is not very good? BE WARNED! After initial response (normally within two days) they will keep you waiting for 2 weeks plus without reply and when they do reply the 'advice' given is either unrelated or not useful. And then you will have to wait for weeks for the next reply. This is my second OnePlus phone (returned my OnePlus 7T due to antenna issues and inability of OnePlus support to actually support me with getting it fixed). I really want to recommend OnePlus phones as the hardware seems good and the operating system is slick but given the bugs and the poor quality of support I don't think I can recommend at the moment, unless you're very patient!

Why should you buy this : The software on this phone is awesome - Some other android phones (including Samsung and Sony from my experience) have pretty poor software, that takes ages to wait for software updates, and can get glitchy after a while. Oneplus are well known to avoid all this and deliver smooth, polished software for years after you purchased the phone. Apart from the software - the phone is very well built, looks modern, speed of downloading is super quick, calls are clear...basically it ticks all the boxes as a phone and internet device. Why not to buy? :- Camera is very good - especially front camera, but its not amazing - and not as good as last years Oneplus 7T that I had before (until I dropped it on the supermarket floor!)For Macro / close up shots it is definitely worse.-The curved screen looks cool, but a flat screen is easier to use - especially if you like to "go back" by swiping from the side of the phone as I do.- I don't like the camera hole on the front of the screen....just looks untidy. They had it perfect on the 7T last year.- I wish the phone was a little smaller.....It's still manageable but just a bit tall.Maybe wait? - Oneplus are planning on bringing out the Oneplus Z next month (July2020). If I could have waited, I would have - that phone is supposed to be smaller, cheaper, with a slightly slower computer chip inside, but maybe a better camera....

Screen - 5/5 Very smooth, high refresh rate, oled HDR technology, would have been nice 1440p given the size but theres always the the Plus model if you want thatBuild - 4/5 Solid construction but very big, was expecting the same size as previous phones, definitely something to consider if you prefer smaller phones. No wireless charging which doesn't matter to me. Phone may be unofficially waterproof according to some youtube videos.Battery - 5/5 Getting 6-7 SOT (Screen on time) thanks to the big battery and the warp charge is terrific, restoring 60% in about 30 minsCamera 3/5 Slightly disappointing coming from a Pixel 3, takes decent pictures most of the time but performance is below the competition during low light,or zoomed images. Macro and wide angle nice to have but have somewhat poor quality. Would prefer it if OnePlus would do away with the gimmicks and just make a dual lens camera on par with Pixel 4Speed 5/5 - No issues here, extremely fast processor Snapdragon 865 with Dual lane ram, its a beast. Part of the reason I chose Oneplus was because Samsung gives us terrible processors with poor performance and heat output.Price - 4/5 Slight more expensive than last generations but still very good value, when you compare against the competition.Software - 5/5 Stock android software with Oyxgen OS very nice up to date and clean, also very easy tailor to you needs

The phone came in a nice packaging and as usual for OnePlus includes a transparent case, screen protectors and a fast charger.Screen Protector: The screen protectors are just flimsy ones, not the stronger glass ones, so won’t help if you drop the phone but will help a little with scratches.Setup: Setting up the phone was quick, and it takes under an hour to charge from almost empty to 100% which is great. The four cameras on the back of the phone make it a little bulky, but I have got used to that already.Screen: The screen is beautiful, and while not everything will make use of the 120Hz refresh rate, things that do, make everything on-screen much smoother. The screen wraps around the side and covers the entire front of the phone, except for a cutout for the front facing camera.Camera: Quality for the camera’s are good, though it keeps defaulting back to 12mega pixels, instead of 48mega pixels, not worked out how to change that yet.OS: It is now possible to run the OS in dark mode, not sure if this a general Android option, or particular to this phone! Having said that my partners OnePlus 6T, which is running the same version doesn’t seem to have this option. Conclusion: Overall, I am thrilled with the phone, and would recommend it is the most powerful phone I have owned and can imagine using for at least the next three years.

I returned my Samsung S20 Ultra as it had problems with call quality. Long story but eventually got a full refund from Samsung. Anyway I decided to try something new and the OnePlus8 Pro was just released. I thought this would be some cheap Chinese knock off but boy was I wrong. It can do everything that Ultra can do and a couple of things more. You can even have 120hz and QHD modes on at the same time. The Ultra can only have one or the other. Also the OnePlus doesn't have the horrendous bloatware bixby. I cannot fault this phone. The speed, smoothness, photography are all premium. You could put a Samsung badge on it and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.I even like the little touches like having seconds on the clock at the top of the screen. Never seen that on a phone before. I've a 5G sim and it works seamlessly. The glacial green colour is nice and slick and it even comes with a very useable clear case in the bright red box. I was going to get a new case but the complimentary case is so good I don't actually need one. It's even got unusual modes such as Zen mode which I haven't got around to trying yet.If you want a premium phone and save several hundred pounds this is the one to go for. After having Samsung phones for the last 10 years I've no regrets switching to OnePlus.

I change my phones way, way too often, you name it, I've had it! I received this phone on the 23/4/2020 and it's brilliant. I had, still have the pixel 4xl and once you put these side by side, the difference is immense!I've taken a few pics on my " daily walk" and it's just as good as the pixel, and that has one of the best cameras on a phone. The battery, I'm still undecided, I think it needs to learn my routine first. I'm running it at full tilt and I'm getting 5-6 hrs screen on time, but charging is another bonus. I charge it wirelessly over night and boost it with the warp charge if I need to.I've struggled for screen protectors, but found an old oneplus 7 Pro wet applied screen protector lying around, tried it and it's perfect! Yes, I had the oneplus 7 Pro too.Great phone, beautiful design and it has wireless charging!** Update after a lady did a rant/review I realised that there was two screen protectors in all the bumph that you get (I don't normally look at it) I've tried one. Not the best, more air bubbles than a mint aero. **

This is my second OnePlus device, having had the 7 Pro beforehand and I must say I like the direction they've taken. Except the price increase I must add, but it feels worth it.The phone looks great and feels great in the hand, and the green colour looks fabulous. You're even provided with a case to protect it, which more companies should adopt. The specs of the phone are astonishing and easily manage even the most arduous of tasks. The QHD screen and the 120hz refresh rates been massive standouts. This, like the 7 Pro also has 5g and as it becomes more prevalent, gets better and speeds increase, good for all internet users. The camera i would say is the most disappointing part, although the pictures are great,OnePlus should have gone all out like the Huawei p40 Pro or galaxy S20 range for the price.Overall though it's brilliant and I'm personally very happy with the buy.I get the feeling OnePlus will be bringing some amazing devices out over the coming years if this is anything to go by.
