With so many new handsets sporting touchscreens, fancy user interfaces, or gizmos it is something of a relief to have in my hands this week Nokia's 6700 Classic. There's nothing fancy about this phone at all. Nokia has shot itself in the foot on a couple of counts, but for those looking for a mobile for voice calling and a bit of texting first and other stuff second, this classic candybar handset is quite alluring.I've generally been a fan of Nokia's approach to the classic candybar, because the company does the basics on such phones well. And the same holds true here. The general design, screen and keyboard are all good - and battery life is smashing. The phone's ordinary looks do it no harm at all.A 109.8mm tall, 45mm wide and 11.2mm thick it feels comfy in the hand. At 113g it is a little heavier than the lightest of candybars, but not by enough to cause any bother. The chrome backplate is both a blessing and a curse. Silver shiny metal looks nice. But in the short term it attracts fingerprints like it is going for a world record in that feat, and in the medium and longer term it'll probably attract plenty of scratches. The front mixes more chrome with plastic and the former's use on the number pad again makes it attractive to fingerprints. The number keys are flat and reasonably easy to use, but fast texters might find the fact that the keys aren't hugely responsive a bit annoying. The screen is small by modern standards but at 2.2in, it carries its 320 x 240 pixels well. And in between screen and keyboard is a bank of buttons that are bland but serviceable. Call and End and two softkey buttons sit on a flat area surrounding the D-pad, whose silver frame is pre-configured to take you to Calendar, SMS creation, and, via its up and down buttons, through the application shortcuts on the main screen. It all works well enough, if offering nothing to cause an 'ooh' or 'aah' of surprise or delight. What did cause delight was the battery life. I did my usual rundown test of asking the phone to play music non-stop off a full charge from its speaker and not only was the volume loud through the speaker but the quality was serviceable. The battery delivered music for a solid 12 and a half hours. Nokia says you should get up to five hours talk and 416 hours of standby on GSM. I was still using this phone off its first charge after three days.Read full review...

I got a chrome coloured Nokia 6700 Classic with my contract in January 2010. My partner was so impressed that I delighted him by buying him one for his birthday in June 2010. My son is now getting one for his christmas this year. It's a fabulous phone. It feels nice and solid in the hand, but not bulky or heavy.I bought a silicon protector/backing and a screen protector and it's now great for just shoving in a pocket with no concerns.I also got wireless earphones which means I've music on the go, without wires hanging anywhere and the phone can be safely tucked in a pocket or bag.The keypad is solid, and etched rather than having"buttons/keys" and is digit friendly for texting. With a memory card added,I have more than 15 full albums stored on it, and the 5 mega-pixel camera gives great results. I can connect to the internet and it's got character size options which is good. I use it as my diary and alarm clock. For my son, it will mean he doesn't have to carry a separate camers, MP3 player and phone - the benefit to this is that I don't have to search for three things for him after he's done a "man look" for them!!!The only flaws I could mention are:1)I can only set one alarm at a time, although this can be overcome by setting up an alarm on a "to do" item in the organiser.2)I can't use the wireless headest and listen to the radio - it needs a wired headset as the headset works as the "antenna".Overall I hghly reccomend this phone. I researched for a while when I was choosing my new mobile, a replacement to my much loved Nokia N95, and I haven't had a moment of regret since choosing it.Read full review...

Make sure that the phone you buy is on the network that you need it.THESE PHONES CANNOT CURRENTLY BE UNLOCKED, so be wary of ads that state it can be unlocked down your local market. THEY CANNOTThe only way to get one of these unlocked is through the original service provider. Most providers will not do this as the handset is too new to be at the end of a contract.Be aware that anyone selling one that they received as an upgrade does not actually own the phone that they are selling. It belongs to the service provider until the contract has been paid up. Normally this is not a problem, but please be aware, if the contract is not paid the phone could get barred in the future. The best phone to buy in my opinion is one that has bought sim-free.It will have no network branding and also will have the original nokia firmware. Because it is sim-free it will come factory unlocked to all networks.I chose to buy this due to its classy looks and great features. It is also very solidly constructed making it quite heavy. This in my opinion is a good thing as you certainly know you have it in your pocket. It features things most often seen on the high-end phones such as 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, assisted GPS coupled with Nokia maps to make a cheap sat nav solution. All in all a very smart looking, slim mobile phone with no faults that I have yet come across. The only negative thing that I can say is that this phone is prone to picking up fingerprints, and needs cleaning constantly. If this is a problem for you, you may want to consider the black version instead.Read full review...

The 6700 is a classic example of how Nokia got to the top. A classic "candybar" handset, packed with enough features to keep all but the most techy of people happy. The chrome version (which I bought) attracts so many fingerprints it's like a CSI Christmas Present, but that's a very minor niggle in what is otherwise a cracking little phone. It makes calls, it texts, it emails, it looks gorgeous and it feels nice in the hand too. It's reassuringly heavy, due to the full stainless steel casing. The one thing it lacks is Wi-Fi, and I think that it does suffer slightly as a result. I'd never intended to use this phone for internet browsing as the screen is too small. However, like most people,I need to go on the internet occasionally and it would have been nice to see WiFi connectivity to make browsing a quicker experience. Saying that though, the HSDPA is fast enough for most applications, and the lack of WiFi certainly isn't something that puts me off.All in all then, a brilliant mid range handset. If you want a phone that's built well, looks nice and does the basics, and does them well, then this is definitely well worth considering.Read full review...

I love the quality build and feel of this handset. Ringtones are loud and clear. My hotmail works perfect. Can see the screen under sunlight. The key pad and central navigation key are a joy to use. Texting is smooth, fast and responsive. Camera button is a little awkward to press,as is the volume key. Much better looking and by far better value than 8800's Sirocco. Using my 8gb memory card which is a little slow to load, but none the less, works perfect. Biggest drawback is that you cannot buy an earphone adapter to fit, either from Nokia or anywhere else. This means you have to use the TERRIBLE Nokia earphones with the handsfree kit.Could not handle that,so Im using a Sony Ericsson handsfree bluetooth adapter with my Sennhieser earphones........bliss!NOKIA PLEASE,PLEASE NOTE. Overall,Im really pleased I bought this phone. Had all the touch screens etc. Just wanted a classy looking phone that does the most important things for me,which the 6700 delivers and leaves me with a smile.Read full review...

My Nokia 6700 was bought new on ebay in Jan 2010 and has a lovely quality feel about it. This is an O2 contract model which is open to other networks SIM cards. The finish is a matt steel grey which looks very good indeed and does not attract fingerprints like the highly polished chrome finish does. I understand it is exclusive to O2 handsets, although it comes with some customisation for O2 network users in the menus (eg key 1 speed dial defaults to O2 voicemail and cannot be re-assigned to my own network's voicemail). Personally I prefer this to buying a Sim free one which would have to be in chrome or black. My only disappointment is the quality of the screen colours which are not quite as good as my Nokia 6300.The menu operation has been subtly improved over the 6300, with less searching through menus for adding images or ring tones to contacts in the address book.Pity it doesn't have WiFi access but battery life is good and GPS and maps function work well.Read full review...

This phone is small, sleek shiny and finished in chrome. It is quite heavy for a phone, but feels solid and not at all flimsy. I have had all sorts of phones over the years, from slides to touch screen. However, I am a simple girl, with simple tastes (and a simple mind, my hubby would say!) and you can't go wrong with a simple candy-bar style phone; no gimmicks, no fads, just a simple, stylish phone which is easy to text with. I have acrylic nails and struggled with the LG Prada. I did not like the chunkiness of the Samsung Soul, my last phone. This Nokia has a great sound quality too. I love the metal case.I paid £129 on Ebay, which I consider a good price.5 mega pixel camera is good too.If you have tried all the fancy phones and style statements, and now just want a phone you can make calls on and text (I don't email or surf on my phone) which looks and feels like a quality item, then you won't go far wrong with this phone.Read full review...

First it was the 6230 then 6230i then the awesome 6300 now there is this. I have been offered iphone 4's, nokia smartphones and you name it but i have to refuse as this is by far one of the best mobiles to step into the mobile world. It is so simple to use, has great features and looks great. I use this mobile for business as i am a businessman and strongly recommend it to any business person. It promises sheer quality and reliablity. The nokia 6700 has never let me down once. It has sadly fallen out my hand a few times and i just couldn't imagine it switching on again however, it has proved me wrong many times. This amazing phone just keeps going on and on.The camera is 5.0 megapixels which is perfect for capturing images be it of my kids or my cars. I would recommend this phone to whomsoever would like a simple mobile for day to day use. This is it!Read full review...

I've come back to a normal phone after an uninspiring time with a touch screen. I chose Nokia because it security locks the keyboard if not used hence nobody else can get into it without the code.I liked the look of the 6700 classic. it's a good size for me and screen looks supriseingly It has good weight as it's made out of chrome, so you'll always know it's in your pocket. The battery life is ok- it'll last a day plus, and it also have this funky function were by if you double tap it you can bring up the clock,or send a call into voice mail. Now for the bad things. I can't find voice tags for the contacts. Iy's got them for nearly everything else except the most used thing-calling your mates. It looks like I'll have to call my provider. Also the flat keyboard. It's soulless. No feedback from it what so ever.It is an improvement on previous models.Read full review...

I'm a 40 year old male working in the construction industry and had been due an upgrade for ages and really didn't want to follow the sheep and buy a touch screen phone so looked around for ages for a phone that felt new and looked up to date that wasn't going to fall to bits in 5 mins and now that I've owned this phone for over a month I feel I'm able to write this review. It feels weighty, the screen is big and very clear, the buttons click as they should do in my opinion and are great for my clumsy fingers. What I like most about this phone is the fact that it is just a phone, not a hand held games console that will take hours and hours to master and sending a simple text or making a simplephone call is just simple although it does have enough features and settings to make it feel your own, and I only paid £100 for it brand new on Ebay. :DRead full review...

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

I was wondering about it long time, found it, bought it. That mobile seems to be one of best of Nokia mobile phones last few years - after what I have read about it, after I have checked it, used it - I am absolutely happy. For the price and all of these nice options - absolutely good value. Great camera (5 mega pixels), it looks brilliant. Long life battery, rich menu, good signal everywhere. And the soft is clear, easy to use even for those who buy their first mobile phone. I rate Nokia mobiles (obviously the 6700 classic) very high. I would recommend that mobile phone to anyone - for the business, for daily use for workers, kids... If you like it as it looks like, you will not be disappointed at all.

Honestly the best phone I have ever owned. Better than I was expecting. It's lovely to hold, very shiny(!), has a god weight to it and works perfectly. There are so many little things I keep finding that make it better too - like the monkey background that changes depending on the battery status and good games inc a brain training game. Easy to navigate, clear and the buttons are good too. (Very girly thing to say but the keypad also doubles up brilliantly as a small mirror - good for windy mornings when your eyes won't stop running!).Overall, very good phone. Already recommended to friends.

Pretty good considering it's refurbished. Only one - no, two - gripes. One, if for any reason I have to switch it off then on again, the T-mobile tune plays so it must originally have been one of their contract phones. Two, very occasionally, when texting, a word suddenly starts with a capital letter when I haven't even clicked on the capital letter button. Nevertheless, as this is a refurbished phone and as I consider the Nokia 6700 to be the best of the non iPhone phones, I'm pretty pleased overall. It is much more able to maintain a strong signal than my last phone was.
