I bought this for my 11 month old son, as he loves drumming. However, I am very surprised just how good an instrument this is. I play the Egyptian tabla, and this djembe is definitely capable of being played seriously. A wide variety of sounds can be coaxed from it. The 7" size is the right one I think for a child, although an adult should stick to the larger sizes, as they'll be easier to control. Have to say though, the sound from this is lovely!The price seems to fluctuate wildly on Amazon, so wait until it's a good deal before purchasing.
