I already own the 12" version which is a beautifully made drum but with the accent on deep deep bass rather than slap which sounds much hollower than typical African drums unless pulled very tight. This little drum is also real quality , beautifully made and very loud for a small drum. The slap and tone are much brighter and sharper than the larger drum and even for an adult is amazing to play and great fun. For anyone new to djembe or any musician I recommend the smaller drum for the typical high pitched soundfrom expensive African djembes.This little instrument is one of the best things to get for less than £50..and in no way is an 8" druminferior or restricted for an adult. Brilliant
