As with most sports games, there is pressure to release a yearly update, which in itself offers developers very little time to make the radical changes we expect.The NHL series has evolved well in recent years, and NHL 14 makes some nice tweaks to an already solid games, but at the same time perhaps feels like it has gone as far as it can on current gen consoles.The skating and physics are great, with collision detection arguably the best of any sports game. The gameplay is satisfying and realistic, with improvements to things like back-handed shots and the one button deke making scoring opportunities more reminiscent of real hockey.The puck is once again not able to be knocked out in front of you and skated on to like you could in NHL 12,

NHL rips you into the world of hockey and packs a punch with the new physics engine you can feel every impact as you hit a player and when big hits happen the fights follow. NHL also is a great hockey game and the only one out there so if you feel like getting bashed with bone breaking hits and smashing pucks at unstoppable speeds NHL might just be right for you. The graphics are good from the players to the crowd, although when making a pro on NHL's new feature LIVE THE LIFE (which is just be a pro) the hair graphics are disgusting for a game this late into this gen they look like PS2 hair graphics but thats a minor issue.

Many people call games such as FIFA and NHL clone games; mainly because they have EA's fingers all over them, and because people claim they are just the same game (engine, gameplay mode wise) with a different label. Although in some aspects this maybe true, EA still continue to deliver an absolute beauty of a game. The addition of the one touch dekes and revamp of the dramatic fighting engine proves for interesting turns of pace in the game. Theres no better feeling then dropping the gloves with guy on the oppisite team straight after he delivers a huge open ice hit on your number one cheeky deker. With this being said, i am more of an online type of guy.

Excuse the short review, ive been playing NHL games since 94 on the megadrive so I thought i'd help you make your decision on this!- if you're wondering to pull the trigger on this or not, do it. The new fight system is excellent and the game is so fast and fluid this year, meaning you really need to skate in a way that helps you keep your momentum! Loved it. Improves on last years excellent 2013 game in every way, and that was ace too!Well done EA. If only you make such significant improvements to FIFA as you do NHL each year. This NHL game is clearly made by hockey fans, over in Vancouver! MAD PROPS. So good.Enjoy! LOVE THE FIGHTS! Players have visible damage on faces...ok gotta go play!!

This game is the best experience possible aside actually playing in a NHL team.Graphics and gameplay are a true delight.On the downside there a few problems with great golies letting in bad goals and bad golies doing shutouts game after game despite receiving dozens os shots. There is also a bad problem with offside. One cannot rush to the opposing net without team mates crossing the blue line first, it seems a really bad show of AI.

For a casual fan, NHL 14 offers a good time in its main game modes and hours of additional fun with the NHL 94 anniversary modes. However fans of a realistic hockey experience might be a little let down by the big slide into arcade action and the main game modes offering little upgrade over NHL 13.

I spent a few years away from the franchise (I don't always think it is necessary to update every year). However, this year has made both offence and defence more realistic and based on positioning. This feels more like actual hockey than arcade hockey, which makes the game all the more rewarding.

It is a great game, and brings some new stuff to an old game.Amazon didn't deliver it when they said they would, but it was only about 1 week late, so no problem.Get this game if you love ice hockey! Go Hawks, go!

I've played them all, right from NHL 94. I can honestly say now it feels like the real thing. It is hard to describe, but I would recommend to any hockey fans. Hate to say it, but nice one EA sports.

bigger and better !!! plays really well but defo needs a patch from EA !!! just little glitches which a patch will fix !!! nhl 94 mode ?????? ahhhh memories of a misspent youth :-) go redwings lol

Great game! Game play is much better than previous years more complicated controls make it a more challenging game. But if you don't like this the NHL 94 option gives you the simple retro feel.

Tried everywhere to find this and as usual amazon came up tops. my son loves this and as an ice hockey player himself he has found moves on it he actually uses on the ice :-)

If you're a fan of the previous games you won't be disappointed by ea's latest instalment. New physics engine just adds to what is a great all round game

This game is the best sports game on the Playstation without a doubt. So many different ways to play. Online team play is my favourite.
