My pre-ordered copy of the Michael Jackson Experience for Kinect the other day and I had a proper chance to try it out today. At first I wasn't too sure what to make of it. Yes, compared to the Wii version, which I've had for a few months now it's technically very good and the graphics are impressive. It tracks your movements better and freedom from a controller is brilliant. But I found I didn't actually enjoy my initial experience as much as the Wii version.MJ experience on the Wii is an excellent game if you have any affinity for MJ's music or dance - it certainly gives an idea of what an excellent dancer he was - some of the moves demonstrated in the "real" choreography videos are very complicated. My only gripe with it is that the controller is a bit sensitive to the way it's held in your hand so sometimes it won't register when it should and of course it can't tell what you're doing with your feet or really the rest of your body and you can just cheat and sit on the sofa shaking the remote if you're that way inclined. The Xbox version projects a version of you as the main Avatar on the screen. It's quite a realistic projection - even including the colour tone and shape of the clothes you're wearing. It does look very cool to see yourself on a "stage" in front of a sea of screaming fans as if you were MJ himself. BUT the avatar goes where the cartoonish MJ character is on the Wii version, so you have to look at the "backing " dancers who stand next to you on the screen to follow the moves.Due to the higher resolution offered by the xbox, these figures are smaller on the screen and there's a lot else going on, the screaming fans in front of you, the music video playing in the background, the "move cards" appearing on the right hand side and generally a lot of "stage furniture" and background detail, a lot of "shimmering and sparkling" distracts from the character you're trying to follow. So it's LOT harder to follow what the dancers are doing on the xbox version- especially as they aren't sharply defined like the wii characters and more like ghost versions of dancers. Your own character in the middle shimmers a lot and I found I tended to look at the dancer figure on the left hand side as the right one was partly hidden by the flash cards, but then I couldn't tell what was coming up next as I couldn't easily look at the flash cards as well!In "performance" mode on the xbox version it uses the Kinect's microphone to pick up your singing on certain sections of the songs, so it scores you on singing as well as dancing ability (though it only seems to rate you on timing, not pitch of the song). Some might like that, some will hate it I don't mind it, but certainly trying to follow a quite up beat dance routine and then sing as well is quite a test of fitness! Some songs like "The Girl is Mine" and "I just can't stop loving you" are singing only. In some places it seems to want you to sing overlapping lyrics which is interesting in solo mode!!I'd say the xbox version is more like doing a "live performance" version of an MJ song. Whereas the Wii version is like doing the music video. They are almost completely different games, the only similarity is some of the dance moves (not all, as the versions of the dances are different) and the video's of the real music video/MJ performance dance choreography in the "MJ school".I think and perhaps once I get used to the xbox version and learn the moves better perhaps I'll like it better, but at the moment I'm keeping both and the wii version wins for initial playability without a doubt! It's a LOT easier to follow the dance routines, even though some of them are actually more complicated than the Xbox version, also sometimes seeing the MJ avatar is preferable to a fumbling version of you, and the backing dancers are much clearer.I thought that the MJ experience for the Xbox was going to be like the wii version but built like Dance central and I think it would have been excellent like that. This version is pretty cool for the technology which allows you to appear in the game, onstage in front of many screaming fans, but it makes the game much more difficult to play, and you don't get to review any of your "performance" or share it. You just get one photo which is used as the high score icon for the song, should you get a high score.Probably better once you're well used to the moves and aren't trying to follow the ghostly character, then you can appreciate everything that's going on on the screen and the technology involved. I'm not there yet......!!!

Now unless you are a HUGE Mj fan then this is the game for you.The graphics are amazing the game is amazing what more can i say? Not many games let you listen to the whole track of a song and this does. It's also a great workout, every time i do this i end up feeling like i have been to the gym, and that's great because who enjoys going to the gym? Well some people probably do but the point I'm making is if you want a good workout then this is great because you get so lost into trying to get the stars on the game...let me explain..throughout the track every move is counted, by the timing and the accuracy and is built up into points and goes to the top left of the screen and turns into stars out of 5.Back onto the workout side of things I've sided away from my workout DVDs and turned to this, i love MJ and for this game to have been brought out is amazing, never could i do the moves on my own (although attempted and failed) this is a little bit of a tutor to some of his moves, OK it's not bang on most of the time, but hey who cares! You don't realise how much work your putting in! :)The game consists of the stage surrounded by fans and your silhouette, you also have backing dancers to go with the hype. (you can use the dancers to judge your next move or what you need to do) to the right of the screen at the bottom you get your move cards, OK i will whole heartily admit that you can't see them very well but the more you play the tracks, the more you get used to them, (I've learnt the whole of the thriller song already so i know what's coming just need the cards to remind me!)]You have a choice of modes, you can practice the dance in steps before you try the full song, or you can go straight in and just dance, your other option is to sing and dance and that is very trying in itself.....but still fun! We do not have a proper xbox mic atm but we are using our headsets at the moment it's for one of us to sit and sing while one of us dances. lol!All in all i find this game to be an enjoyable experience and a privilege to step in the "king"'s footsteps. It's that enjoyable that even my nearly 2 year old joins in the fun! The kinect is a truly fantastic piece of technology that makes a person able to dance without a controller or something in your hand and it is definitely something remarkable in itself.

Seriously. All the haters on here have no actual point. There are pauses in the dancing part here and there. Yes.It's called MJ EXPERIENCE! It's about the whole performance, thats the point to it. Singing and dancing together.Ok.. so I did Thriller to start out. And indeed I got a reeeeeally high score. Also.. it shows you yourself in a mad electricy looking selfness. It's rather cool! The moves are spot on. It scores you on how close you get. One guy complained there were no difficulty levels. Can I just point something out with that? What were they gonna do, limit the moves? It's better to play through the whole thing and just get scored on how good you are. It doesn't attack you for being quite poor or average,it just moreso tells you when you're doing really awesome. This is a proper game. Now my opinion is clear but I'll state it anyway. I love it. I really don't think you could feel closer to becoming MJ. Period. If you're mad, then dress up like MJ to do the dances.. 'cos you'll sure as hell look like you're MJ on the screen if you're good enough. OK.. a Michael version of yourself then hehe. But thats it :)I bought this to dance to, and it does EXACTLY what I expected it to do. If Dance Central looked this awesome to dance along to, it'd be a total treat! Dance Central is NOT A BAD GAME! It's also a high scorer. But this is a specific game, and indeed I score it top marks because it does what it's meant to.People.. this game's 15 quid. Grab a hold of yourself and turn on one click ordering ;) I'd say buy it now but that's a rip haha ;)Please, do thank me for my review after you fall in love with this game :)Happy MJ'n :D

I am not a hardcore gamer, but do have a Pink DS and needed a new game. I figured I would see if they make this game for the DS since I knew it was for the WII. I really was happy to see they did make it for the DS. This game is more of a skills game, that you have to tap and move the circles on the screen to the beat of the music. There is a Michael look a like dancing at the top of the screen then on the bottom screen is where you play the game. It does have the actual songs as heard on his albums. You get started with Billie Jean and Another Part Of Me. So it's neat you have his real music and not some game music to play to.I would say that a hardcore gamer would have nothing but negatives to say about it since it's not like the WII version where you actually dance to his moves and such. But a Michael fan and someone who knows how to navigate the DS should certainly pick it up. The easy level took me a minute to figure out since I finally realized how you have to play the game. But I would suggest taking the tour of the game first. The intermediate level is quite hard and so is the advanced. But all in all A good game to have and worth the money. The JukeBox feature on the game i would stay away from since you only get to choose a song then watch the Michael look a like dance to it. You can't exit out of or go back.

I had NO hopes of this game- I just wanted to try it for the completeness of judging every Kinect title on its own merits, without the partisan prejudice of others.I loved it. I AM NOT a Jackson fan, and to say that it was really great fun must prove something! I've tried all the other Kinect dance games and been very unimpressed to date (the only one I liked was Zumba Fitness, which even with an early patch crashed repeatedly like an Airbus). This went through the songs in full, and had a separate, if not exhaustive dance learning section for the song I chose. The video performance was a little more involved, with some helpful six foot zombies bouncing around behind my slightly low res avatar. It's Ubisoft again- who produced the slightly flaky, but best of breed early fitness game, Your Shape Fitness Evolved. However the Kinect game compares to the remote shaking Wii version or to the original gyrating moves in the real music videos- I don't CARE- THIS IS REALLY GOOD FUN! So far very few Kinect titles have made it past the rental stage, but this has to be one of them.Destined to become a hit with ex Philippine prison inmates, I'm sure.

Took awhile to receive it,but it was worth the wait. This game is super cool!I feel like Michael's spirit is in it while I play it. (It's that amazing if you're a huge Michael fan)I love the mini Michael dancing on it.Even when i didn't win the level I was on, it didn't bother me (unlike some other games I have)because it meant I could listen to Michael singing more. :)In this version, you have to try to get as much of the song as accurately as you can to get coins that either unlock songs in jukebox, an item or two in collection or another song to dance to.The more accurate, the more coins you earn.Make Michael dance to the rhythm of the song. You have to wait until the circle around each numbercircle is almost gone before tapping them to get anywhere. Here's the songs you get on the ds game:Another part of meBillie jeanHeal the worldBadThe way you make me feelDon't stop 'til you get enoughBlack or whiteWanna be startin somethingStreetwalkerLeave me aloneSmooth criminalandBeat itHope this helps other gamers decide if they want to buy it.

This is a must for any MJ fans. It has most (I assume DLC may be forthcoming) of his hits - some singing only, but most allow you to dance only, or dance and sing! Kinect picks up body movement well, and unlike 'other' consoles - will put YOU in the game. Yes it uses an image of you in the same way Fitness Evolved does.During the performances, the backgrounds really make you feel like you are on stage. The backdrops even have the original videos playing on some songs. Thriller is fantastic! You need to turn off the Kinect mic if it is near the TV speakers. We found it was picking up the singing from the surround sound, meaning you could get a 'perfect' rating without opening your mouth (or maybe we had the music so loud...).This is a minor thing - and was soon resolved with the addition of a wireless mic.Overall a really fun game to play.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I pre-ordered this game, I have other dance games for the Kinect and they all perform well with good graphics, however I was really surprised to see ow good they were on this game. A lot of effort has been put into the detail, especially what traces your outline during the game. I had seen this on the Wii and thought it was okay, however the Kinect version has everything, you can sing and dance all without microphones. The Kinect picks up your voice through its sensor, however if you have Lips microphones you can uses these too. The dance moves are also traced quite acuratly, not as much as dance central, but this is a slightly different style game, so its more fun!Its a must for everyone who loves MJ songs and there is so much to do on it, a lot which I haven't even done yet!

robably as close as you are going to get to being the real MJ.Pros:Greatest song choices!!! almost the best of MJ, only 2-3 songs missingMJ school teaches you the dance moves with REAL choreographers!!Ability to sing, dance, sing and dance! with 2 levels of difficultyImpressive visuals and graphics; great feeling to be on a MJ stageMultiplayer up to 4 player local, very fun, 2 modes (battle and coop)CONS:You need to practice to be the king of pop!!!Dance move could be better illustratedToo bad that all songs don't have the full karaoke function...and singing might be to easy...Overall I will rate this game 8.0 out of 10If you are a big MJ fan then I would recommend itIf you are a fan of dance central and want another game,go for it!it's gonna be party time!!!

At first after reading a few other reviews I was really nervous about getting this game. But I have to say I love it even though it shows how unfit I actually am. I quite like the mix of both singing and dancing although I do not think I would do the singing at a party but it is a fun game. I really enjoy the game and I don't find that it is not the game that lags, more the human playing it. MJ's move for some of the songs actually seem really simple but the speed of the movement and the seamlessness with which he switches from one to the other causes the average human to lag and obviously that will slow the game to an extent.I have not played this a huge amount to fully evaluate the game but so far I love it to be honest.

Probably as close as you are going to get to being the real MJ.Pros:Plenty of song choiceMJ school teaches you the dance movesSimple navigation of the gameImpressive visuals and graphics compared to this game on other platformsMultilayer up to 4 player localCONS:Dance moves are to complicated at timesDance move are not CLEARLY illustratedSome songs have unnecessary dance moves when they would be better as just a vocal preformanceNO JACKSON 5 SONGS DISAPPOINTINGOverall I will rate this game 8.0 out of 10If you are a big MJ fan then I would recommend it if not spend you money on dance central or dance paradise.

i wanted to buy this game even before i purchased my xbox kinect. Being a massive MJ fan i always loved the way he moved around on the dance floor and now thanks to this brilliant game i can do his moves as he once did. The grafics are fabulous and i love the way you can break down the moves to get them right. Brilliant wide selection of songs to choose from, although would have liked some of the Jackson 5 tunes among them but then it wouldnt be called the Michael Jackson experience would it? Maybe the brothers need to bring one out now?I can fault this game at all i love every bit of it and it sure does make you sweat!!

We enjoyed Dance Central(DC) so much, and being fans of MJ, we we're sure to enjoy this one as well. And we were not disappointed. We liked that we can see our own image dancing with the rest of the backup dancers. We wished there were names for the dance steps though, like in DC. We put this on when kids have a play date, and now their friends love MJ as well. Now, we bought the wireless mics, so we can make the most of the singing as well. If you love to dance, or love MJ, this is a great Kinect option.

Great product, that will keep you entertained for hours. Great for group events such as birthdays or for a solo dancer that just wants to jam to Michael Jackson songs. So many songs to choose from and dances to master along with dance videos to refine your moves.I brought this product as I wanted a fun game to play and I'm a fan of Michael Jackson songs. This game has great music. This game is not like other dance games I have played before, you dance and really make it your own experience.

My husband and I both tried this game. Sucks the game only has 12 tracks but overall the tracks it does has plays very well and are classics. The game is pretty much tracing the moves with the stylus, and takes a steady hand to trace some of the moves. Sound quality is awesome. Wouldn't really expect that on a DS game. My husband and I play all our games on our 3DS systems. This game is VERY fun and I'm so glad I bought this for my husband. :) <3
