So I was skeptical about this game when I saw some of the reviews. I knew I'd get the game as a Metal Gear fan but it was a question of for what price. For little over £17 at times, the game offers much more content than just the Ground Zeroes operation. The game uses the same area for all of the missions which is a slight let down as you always want to see more. The side missions on offer are varied and each has it's own little story to go with it and different game mechanics are brought into play so at no point do the missions seem as if they have been recycled from the main operation. To get all of the achievements/trophies on offer will take maybe around 10 hours to get but for me,it will likely take longer, so for the more casual gamers among you, expect at least this time to do everything. Using video guides the missions can be completed in no time, but if spending the time to learn the game through and through yourself, the game will extend in length tenfold. As on outsider to the metal gear franchise, this game will likely seem a little lacking so for this reason I would suggest at least the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for a similar price instead as it provides a great chunk of story and the Peace Walker and Snake Eater games included directly relate to the story of Ground Zeroes, more so than the other games on offer in the franchise. For a returning fan however, the game offers a brilliant graphical upgrade (Xbox One in my experience) in relation to previous titles and is a great taster for what to expect in The Phantom Pain. The lack of David Hayter was also a little off putting, but Kiefer Sutherland fills the hole left better then I was expecting. After some time, you actually get to enjoy this refreshing feel he gives to his character and is just another indication of how the game is moving forward through to this 'next-gen' age. From the game itself and the trailers around, the game does seem to be taking a darker and grittier approach than the other games in the series which is an interesting change that may be distasteful to some audiences as it can really snatch the expected feel of the game and tear it up infront of your eyes. Go into this one with an open mind. All in all, an excellent game that shouldn't really be considered a demo as a true fan appreciates every last detail put into the game either way. The original price of £30 , would perhaps be too steep in my opinion as for £5, £10 more you can get a full length game, but for almost half of that now, I think that there is plenty on offer for you.

The best way to look at this "game" is that it is not a full game, but that it is a level within a game. I was looking to pick this up as it's very cheap now, however in the end I decided to get Xbox Gold in August (cost me £20) and this game was a free download. Now first of all if I had paid any more than about £10 for this game alone then I would be highly annoyed, especially if you never realised how short it is. Now I have not checked all the reviews but I am guessing that most of the lower scores are centred around this. So yeah, the game is short, I took my time on my first play through and it took around 90 minutes. There is however more content as you can play the level with different objectives, but it's all within the same level/environment. Now normally I wouldn't play a game through multiple times (because my gaming time is limited) but with MGS I enjoyed playing through multiple times, as if you only play once then you are going to be missing out on lots of content within the game.So other than the above it's difficult to see many negatives with this game. It's a personal gripe of mine that for me, now a casual gamer, the story of MGS is over complex and unnecessary, but at least in this game we are not bombarded with unnecessarily long cut scenes. The general gameplay mechanics are excellent and as ever with MGS there are various ways you can approach the game. Again you can shoot on site but this is not really what MGS is all about, if you sneak and take out enemies silently or just simply go unnoticed, then the game is much more rewarding. In this respect it's an excellent game and an excellent taster for what is to come with MGS5, which I am yet to play. As you can probably guess, I wasn't a big fan of MGS4 but enjoyed the earlier MGS games. I think the general gameplay in this game is excellent and the only downside is that it's short and is really just a taster for the full game.

As has been mentioned in pretty much every review, the game itself is brilliant. The issue arises when the length is discussed (always a topic of debate!) and in my opinion this isn't a negative in isolation. The game took me 2 hours to complete the main mission, and I've since spend another hour perfecting the main mission. Once the mission "Ground Zeroes' has been completed, other side quests open up which will give the player another 2, maybe 3 hours to play through.I've never been a massive fan of the MGS series but I've played most of them through and have a quiet respect for the series as a whole. I always see them as showcasing what a console can really achieve.Yeah, the game is short, but it's also £20. Relatively it might be expensive next to the likes of GTA:V, Skyrim blah blah, but it's still good value when compared to other entertainment. A night out at the cinema on a Friday night now costs £20 but people are happy enough to go along still and enjoy the experience.Don't let the reviews put you off buying this game, else it would be a real shame, especially if you're buying it for Xbox One or the PS4, the graphics, storyline, and epic gameplay will give you a great evenings worth of entertainment. Then if you feel inclined, sell it straight after. It has really whet my appetite for the Phantom Pain.

The game as a whole is really good and the main mission leaves me asking for more. Those who rate it one star explaining that it is too short shouldn't exactly have a case because you paid just over £20, I would understand if you paid £50 but not £20, you were warned. If you play the side missions included, you get a seperate story which combined takes 3-4 hours. Even going around the map to find the XOF patches (without a guide) takes some time so that compensates for the story mission.Everything about the gameplay and appearance of Ground Zeroes is really well done. The graphics are top notch and the movement is smooth. The only thing which stops me from giving it 5-stars is because there isn't even one boss battle which could at least stress me a few times, the only real boss that was there was an armored vehicle, but that was a peace walker boss, a boss for a PSP game! It could've been a person leading a squadron which isn't the antagonist shown in the intro for all I cared just give me a reason to have a call button! This is so far and by far the best game on the Xbox One yet!

I'm pleased I bought this game despite all the negative comments,The Graphics are Superb, the weather really set up the feel of the game, i think it's amazing. The gameplay and control's have got me even more excited for MGS V Phantom Pain.It helps you get a real sense of what you're getting out of that game once it's released.I will admit the game was rather short and more of a demo BUT, most people like to try to complete a game as fast as possible instead of enjoying it, which is rather pathetic in my opinion. Also there are a few side op's missions to play as well as the proper game, and they're not easy either, especially as they're during the day time. Now I've completed the main mission I've been playing it again but this time I've been using it as a play ground basically.Testing myself out both Stealth and ALL GUNS BLAZING!!!!Personally I love Ground Zero'sBut it really is up to you.Like I said you can always use it as a play ground to get you adjusted to the weapons, control's and actual gameplay in preperation for The Phantom Pain:)

It should be no surprise if you've read anything about this game that the main mission is short. It took me 1 1/2 hours to complete on hard. However, what the game does well is addict you in coming back and replaying the main and side ops missions in trying to get a S rating on each one, as well as finding the collectables which are well hidden. The game rewards patience and planning for the best results. However if you want to go in guns blazing you can have success here too, but don't expect a good score as this is still a stealth orientated game. There are so many different paths and approaches to play which helps replay-ability.The gameplay itself is really fun from the movement of Big Boss to the clever AI enemies. On top of this the graphics are great. If you are a Metal Gear Solid fan then this is a must for you. If you are a an action game fan I'd also recommend this too. I've easily put in over 10 hours and I'm not even 50% completed. Can't wait for the Phanton Pain now!

A lot of people have been giving a really bad score for this game just because it is apparently "too short". That might be so but that doesn't stop it from being a good game, nice opener to Phantom Pain and gives you an insight on how the game plays. For £23 there is actually A LOT more content than you think, For example if you collect all the audio tapes then there is A LOT of back-story between the events of Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, There are 5 extra side missions which are fun and challenging, plus the trails such as completing it quickest time with no alerts and kills! If you're one of those type of gamers who enjoy speed-running, beating scores and experimenting with different playing methods then I can recommend it.If you're a HUGE fan of Metal Gear Solid then I highly recommend that you add it to your collection since it does include some important story assets which I will not spoil for this review.

Yes the game cost £25 odd, but its worth every penny. Yes the main mission can be completed as quick as you want but there is endless replay value. Do what i did take your time and try not to get spotted, or enjoy a full out firefight then vanish to resume sneaking about.. We all have our fav maps/missions on most games and this is like playing a great mission over and over again but with multiple game types/objectives. Once the main mission is comlpeted you get to see a teaser/plot line for the upcoming MGS5... Its great i cannot wait for it to come out.If you are considering buying this game but are worried for all the poor reviews... ignor them.I for one love this game and although a fan of the original MGS i have not played or followed this series for a LONG time.Dont quibble, just buy it!

I love this game it maybe short but if your a true metal gear solid fan and you just like to joke around this is perfect I've completed it now doing all the other extra missions what are all about 30 mins long IF you rushed it and just want to complete it after I've done that I will do it on hard difficulty and try to complete it without getting seen it's a great game it's a prequel to the new game it was only 20 quid I would have still paid 40 for this because I think it's a good little map and I just love metal gear solid it's short if you rush it but if your a metal gear solid fan you wouldn't rush it as you want too look around and find hidden things etc but great game I can't wait for MGSphantom

This is an excellent stealth game with beautiful graphics unmatched so far on the Xbox One. Although it is a little pricy for (what I imagine to be) a very small portion of the full game. It does seem worth it when you consider the other challenging extras you access after your first playthrough. My biggest problem with the game however is that it doesn't have that 'Metal Gear Solid' feel. This is just my opinion but David Hayter is Snake! I can't make any connection with Kiefer Sutherland as our main guy. Small aspects also bother me like the lack of sound effects when discovered or the music when you die. These things obviously don't make for a bad game but for me it isn't a Metal Gear SolidGame.

If you get this game at a cheap price then it's worth a blast. I say this because it's got a very limited life span, - if your playing this for an hour or two each day, you will complete the game within a week. Also, the game revolves just a small mission area / environment. That said, this is an enjoyable game with pretty graphics.Your best bet is to pay the extra and purchase MGS-5 The Phantom Pain, - that has massive free roaming environments with an equally massive mission list and a whole host of additional tasks to manage. You'll be lucky if you ever finish it.

Never been a great fan of Metal Gear. But even thous this game is not that long it's a decent game. Excellent graphics. I have found it a Challenge. Took me a while to get used of the controllers for this game. I have played the main game and a couple of missions. More of a stealth game. Which is not normally my style. If you compare it to the call of duty and battle field it's more difficult. I will re play the missions to improve my level. If this is a taster of the full game coming out it should be worth buying even thous I am not a fan of this franchise.

This game is amazing it's such a good stealth game, the movement, the graphics, the sound. Everything is brilliant! The enemies are so beliveable too, they spot you a mile away and it makes it so believable! However, 3 stars simply because the game was over before I knew it! I thought I would do the main missions and get them done first, however a cut scene kicked in aaaaand then credits..... Its a joke I'm yet to go back and do the rest but I will as it's so good. Seeing as I only paid £20 for it I'm pretty happy, just kind of feels like an extended demo!

First lets address the brevity of the game.As long as you accept that this is not a full game, then you will approach with the correct mindset.Graphically it's stunning, in the various weather and day/night settings, this is a beautiful environment to explore and sneak around in.The audio is also impressive, listening in on the soldiers conversations is amusing and useful. The extra side missions make great use of the game engine. It sets the scene well for the upcoming Phantom Pain and promises a great full game.

26.3.2014

As a game this is brilliant. Graphics, gameplay, replay value are all there.Sure you can finish the "story" in under an hour. But there are plenty of side ops/Easter eggs to find which even the most experienced MGS fan will admit will take at least 10 hours. This game was only released to ease us into the new open world style for MGS, a teaser if you will.DLC for The Phantom Pain comes included, although not stating what it is I am 100% certain it will be worth 23 pound for this alone.5/5.
