We bought this set to add on to a bigger Melissa and Doug set for our grandson. This gave us more track, an additional train, and a robust and simple bridge. The larger set that we have has more complex high level track and bridges which our grandson will only handle when he is a little older. The figure 8 set allows him to use the flat track from both sets to build large layouts on the flat. The simple bridge in the figure 8 set is simple to incorporate in any layout.To sum up we would recommend the figure 8 train set as an excellent first train set for a toddler. At the price it is also a much more cost effective way of acquiring extra track for an existing wooden train set.

I got this train set as an extention to the one we got for our 2yr old at xmas and she loves it and it fits perfectly (other one from elc). Would definately recommend for the price!

Simple small set with a bridge, but yes it is really good quality and pieces of the road setting nicely together without any gaps, like you can see in cheaper sets.

Really nice quality wooden train set, really good value too, harsh on the four stars as the red train was a bit pink, in fact I'll change to 5!

my grandson loves his train set and track when he comes to play at his nannies he goes strait to it to play
