And unfortunately the ONLY official NFL video game you can get.I haven't bought a football game since 2002 when there was NFL 2k2 on the PS2. It took me a while to get into the current generation of video gaming due to my career but I made the big bucks and now I have free time to play video games for about 5-8 hours a week. I borrowed my friend's old copy of Madden 07 when I got my 360 in 2009. I thought it was an okay game, but not something I would spend the full 60 bucks on for the latest Madden.I'm not a hardcore Madden player. I have a good understanding of football, but not a deep understanding of plays, formations, etc. I like watching football on Sundays, I like watching highlights, but I'm not into fantasy football. My team's the San Diego Chargers. Drew Brees is on the cover. I downloaded the demo and liked what I saw with GameFlow. Add on the $20 credit that Amazon offered, I felt it was time to make the plunge and buy Madden for my video game collection.Playing with the default settings, I played a quick game last night with my team the Chargers against the hated Eli Manning's team. The pacing was good. The controls took a little getting used to, as I always remembered a turbo button, but the good thing is that now the cpu does it for you so you can focus on running, stiff arming and covering up the ball. The graphics looked pretty good on the 360. As the game started I was pleased that the announcer talked about the Rivers/Manning trade. A minor glitch during my game was when on offense, I had an incomplete pass that my receiver had to break up the defender to avoid an interception but the announcer said the pass was good. At the default level though, the game was too easy. I killed the Giants, 45-13. My new rookie running back Matthews ran for 200+ yards, 10.5 ypc. How I WISH the real-life Matthews will have numbers like that. So I'll probably have to adjust the difficulty a little bit.I probably won't get Madden 12 or another football game this generation. Unless of course there's another NFL football video game that's better. I really hope this exclusivity thing ends as I would like a choice and competition breeds better products. If you own an old version of Madden, like 06, 07, I would say Madden 11 would be a worthy upgrade. If you have 10, upgrading every year is a bit ridiculous unless you're really hardcore. But for the casual fan like me, Madden 11 meets my needs and expectations.

This was the year Madden finally caught NFL 2K5 in terms of game play. You can finally run the ball through open holes where your line is supposed to block. It looks and plays very smooth. Using the sticks to run is something we all will get used to doing. The games do play a little faster, but not in half the time like was advertised.I do like the choices in music for the most part. Having more crowd cheers and some teams fight songs is a nice touch.Gus Johnson is a much needed addition to the game and is very good. You can tell he put a lot into his first season at the mic.Not a big fan of Collinsworth and he is far too repetitive. EA needs to build that rapport in the booth like they have in FIFA and NHL.Since Big John Madden has retired; can't he do the color commentary? Wasn't playing Madden the best when he would say things like, "Where'd that truck come from?" or "Boom! He's on his back!" At least they could get Frank Caliendo to do his impressions of Madden during the game. The Gameflow feature has its ups and downs. It is cool to have the coordinator in your ear, but sometimes their play calls don't make sense. Making adjustments at the line on defense is virtually impossible, but you have the option to turn that off in Gameflow.I hate EA's coin system where you can buy more add-ons. Um, this game has made your company billions, you have sponsors that paid a fortune to be in the game, and you still want to nickel and dime your customers?I could be nitpicky and say the kickoff returns are a joke, has anyone made it close to midfield yet? The playbook looks like the graphics came from Madden 96 on the Genesis. And why is their no surprise onside feature? But, that is ticky-tack stuff. The Super Bowl presentation is as authentic as it gets with the celebration that includes a parade, the NFL Commissioner, and even the President. Although, it is disappointing not to see the guy whose name is on the game anywhere is the game.I really like this year's version and will be having a lot of fun with the game for the 2010 season and that is what it gaming is all about. If they only put a decent pregame, halftime and post game show together they would finally catch 2K5 in terms of overall presentation. Of course when 2k5 came out it was only $20.Oh, and props to Amazon for always having a good deal and for getting it to me on opening day.

I felt compelled to write this review, because so many of the reviews on Amazon are way too negative. This game has several subtle improvements that do make it superior to Madden 10, irrespective of the big bullet list additions for year (Gameflow, et al). Moreover, if you don't like Gameflow (I don't use it), it's easily disabled and will never bother you again. EA has also promised to release a patch before the season starts making it so you can set pre-snap adjustments in the traditional manner (as opposed to with the "Strategy Pad").So what's better?1. Graphics - the game looks fantastic!2. Locomotion - players auto-sprint now (also possible to disable) and I like it way better.Acceleration is based on a variety of factors now.3. Blocking - offensive linemen block much better, which combined with locomotion makes running the ball more fun4. General AI - the artificial intelligence in the game is just generally improvedSo what's disappointing?1. Franchise mode - my favorite part of Madden is fantasy drafts with friends, and there's nothing new here. Big letdown.2. Commentary - some say it's an improvement, but I find the new commentary super annoying. It jarringly moves from ecstatic yelling to monotone.3. Advertising - if the advertising in Madden 10 annoyed you, then prepared to fly into a gentle rage. They've really gone too far with the in-game advertising this year. It's everywhere and constant.4. Big Bullet List additions for this year are underwhelming and mainly for newcomers.Overall -Better than 10, glad I bought it for the subtle changes, but not as different from 10 as I would have hoped. If you've never played 10 then by all means just buy it. Personally, I'm tired of 10. and there's enough different in 11 to justify my purchase.P.S. - I do think that EA should hire a new development team, because the current one seems to have basically run out of ideas.

First off, I own and have played every edition of Madden since it all began. Also, I abosolutely could not stand Madden 10 - while it looked good, it played terrible in my opinion and was about the worst in playability since 2005's iteration. Madden 11 gameplay is different from any of the others that EA has produced(both the raw physics and mechanics of playcalling have changed dramatically). In an effort to simplify play calling EA introduced a form of automated system. I chose to give this product an excellent review because Madden 11 has returned to the fundamentals of gameplay I enjoyed (especially running the ball). Key players (AI) react how the player would want them to react (i.e.throwing key blocks, holding the line in pressure moments, and catching critical passes). These elements have ben missing from the gameplay a long time. If you like "playability" and how Madden 2001 visually showed the ball being "aired out" after important plays, you will love this game. Online play is great! Graphics and player movement are not glitched how Madden 10 was (choppy sometimes). Also, the Madden Moments have really improved! They tweaked the final plays of greatest moments just perfect to only last a few minutes (how a moment showed be). The sound is awesome - no longer just rambling on and on... however, I do wish EA would return "Maddenisms" at some point. Make sure you also have 800 XBOX Live Points to play this one - for the MAX download package. And you may also wish to purchase "coins" which will help scouting the opposition as well as your own team... these can be earned or purchased. Earning them gives the player the ability to get an incentive for polaying online and will boost the players strengths on the field.Simply put, if you loved how Madden should have been made since the beginning, play this game. Get used to the controls and you will appreciate Madden once again.

Just received Madden 11 the other day and it's been almost 7 years since I have upgraded on a new Madden game. I am a huge football fan and have always played video games, but I'm not dedicated enough to set up all my audibles, game plans, player scouting, or anything too in depth... I just want to play, draft, and sign some cheap free agents.Having said that, the game play for 11 is a lot of fun. I can't seem to put the game down and every match-up in my franchise has been exciting and down to the last second. I set the difficulty to my skill so that it would get harder in areas I am good at and easier where I am not as polished. So far the game has been very smooth in game play and I enjoy the running and passing controls and feel.I really have very little to complain aboutPicking a play is really hard to do before the play clock runs out, so I have resorted to the gameflow a lot. Regardless, you can set the options to classic style if you so choose. Nothing to really get worked up about. The only negative I have seen is the post play videos. Sometimes it will show the ref's feet as he is announcing a penalty. Once it cut out to an injury screen before the ball carrier had been tackled. Tipped passes focus on the ball and not the player so once again I am staring at their feet when the ball hits the ground. It's a little annoying and you would think EA has been doing this long enough to not make these little mistakes. Oh almost forgot, I threw a pick 6 and the stat came up that my QB had 2 TD's this game... technically yes, but at the same time no!I think a lot of people complain about this game and expect EA to reinvent the wheel every time Madden is released. Football is football and the main concepts of the game haven't changed since the very first Madden. I find the game to be a lot of fun and will be playing it right after I write this review.

Pretty much another roster update, not many new features, the most commented, Gameflow, which is a good idea but not so well executed. 99% of time I'll stick to the regular play calling. The only time gameflow could be useful is if you are out of timeouts and need to quickly call something (almost reminds me of Tecmo Super Bowl, however, there, you were able to choose your play).Something I don't like about the Madden games is how they like to change some of the controls every year just because they have to change something. This edition is no exception, for example the Hot Routes, previously you only had to press Y, select your receiver, then choose the new route. Now you have to press digital up,press up again, select your receiver, then finally choose the new route. How am I supposed to just pick the game and play? at least is explained on page 1 of the manual (and I guess we're lucky they still include one). Not everything is bad about the control changes, the field goal mechanic was simplified by just having to press A for power then carefully timing A again for accuracy.I like the quick Super Bowl mode, it lets you taste the big game right away (also lets you try some crazy combinations). The AFL mode looks promising, with even the retro sepia camera, it would have been great if it had the old stadiums and old players (or at least generic jersey numbers). Nice try.Franchise mode is pretty much the same deal. I haven't tried the online mode yet.One last comment, I preordered the game on August 8 and paid $59.00, I'm finding out today the price was reduced to $49.00. The low price warranty should apply up to a week after the game's release. What a low blow.

I have been an avid Madden fan ever since i ve owned my first console. I love the series to the core and is a great game to play for anyone at any age. Some of the great aspects of this game are that the graphics are top notch, tom hammond adds a nice depth to the commentary, madden moments and ultimate team are very fun game modes that take strategy to the next level, and of course the 3 v. 3 online team play is a blast to mess around with your friends. Also, like with any madden game they have added more stunning body movements and physics engine and this only helps to augment the gaming experience. With that said...There are also some downsides to this game. They havent added anything new to the franchise or Be a Superstar modes for the past 2 years now as it seems their focus has shifted to online. Now im not saying thats an entirely bad thing considering i put 250 games under my belt in Madden 10. I just dont feel as if the allure is there to play that many games again online and i was planning on focusing on reverting back to my own roots and play franchise again. Hence why i am a little disappointed. Granted the online is unchanged but still very fun to beat up on other players. My last critique is that All Madden is ridiculous hard. Now the AI is pretty much the same as the last few games accept it is impossible to tackle people. They break everything...everything. I have been dominating all madden for a couple of years now and they break every tackle. So if you want to play on all madden turn the broken tackle slide down to about ten to make it realistic. All in all fun game-8.5/10

Compared to last year the game-play is much better but it sacrifices franchise options. The online options are much better so if you play online and enjoy better game-play you will like this game but if you only do franchise then you will be upset. Also create a player is terrible but madden moments are pretty cool. Definitely a switch from last year where you needed a good quarterback and could survive with an average running back and average offensive line. This year you need a very good running back and an above average offensive line but can get by with an accurate but average QB. Going across the middle is a little to easy but running the ball and going deep is tough. sprint is gone but I actually like it,there is also a game-call mode where they pick the play for you if you want which saves you time, also you don't need to wait to watch cut-scenes and you can play a game in about 2/3 of the time that you could last year, which is nice. I don't see why they took away so many of the franchise options and create a player options because they don't seem to complicated for the programmers. I like it but every year I am still ticked off at EA by how they are charging us $60 and have tons of in game advertisements, either put more money into a complete game or drop the price of the game. overall I would grade the game a B+ due to value of replay, would have gotten an A if the franchise options and create a player options were not taken out.

I'll try to cool off some of the hot heads around here with a more level headed approach in reviewing this game. As we all know the Madden Franchise has been around for many years and with that over the years there has been some improvements towards game play, graphics, AI etc etc. Granted this year hasn't done a lot of new things, If anything it has polished some issues with last years model. The Running game has greatly improved, blockers will actually block and make routes. And finally after these past few years of listening to horrid commentary we get some fresh air from a different guy, It adds a little flavor of excitement to the whole mix on top of your coach yelling advice into your head set...really pulls you into the game. Now granted I ain't saying this the greatest Madden yet,It ain't perfect. They haven't improved the Franchise mode and Superstar Mode which to me is like the bread and butter of anything related to the NFL. While yes the AI has improved there is some noticeable issues that could be tightened (especially playing Defense).Fact remains, the next few years EA has a hold of NFL exclusive titles, We can only hope that they listen to us and improve the quality of game play throughout. All in all its still a fun game and should get this title, even if you are apprehensive about it.

This is the best Madden game that EA has ever made. The gameflow option is great. You can create your own gameplan, or have the coach call in the plays for you. This helps people mix up thier offense and defense, versus just picking the handful of plays they know.I have no idea why people are rating this game so badly. The running game is so much better. You can actually run the ball effectively. The gameplay is as close to the actual game as it can be. Take a look at the game, and then look at an NFL football game. The tackles are much more similar to those in real life. Returning a kick off for a touchdown is more difficult and more real.Overall, if you are a Madden fan and a football fan, this is the game to get. I Have gotten Madden every year since 2007, and can't imagine going back after playing this game. See this game for yourself and don't listen to the nay-sayers. People complain about Madden every single year it comes out, and yet the game sells millions and becomes more popular every single year. So, the people who complain are in the minority, and the people who are complaining probably complain every year the game comes out, yet they still buy it.You couldn't pay me to give up this game. It's that good!

Well, I can officially say that I got the product as it was brand new and fully wrapped. The disc was in good condition though it seemed to suffer what seemed to be minor burn errors, but overall it runs just fine in the system and that's usually with a publisher not so much how it's shipped. This game itself is better then majority of Madden Games. Madden had recently taken on a role of being difficult and hard to understand how to play the game effectively. It no longer stayed in what I'd call a playable atmosphere, and begun to make it far too complicated then it should of been. This Madden 2011 is actually fixing those issues and taking a step back, just like the old greats like NFL Football 94 for the Sega Genesis.Customization of the game is quite well as well. Playing a character from NCAA Football 2011 or a new one, I like this system, but the game itself loses the announcers while you're playing that part of the game and sadly I miss those sounds. Also getting your favorite team to draft you isn't that easy. Follow that by Franchise and I think it's great. Can really create your dream team if you want.Either-way in terms of games I think that Madden is taking a step in the right direction.

I am fairly new to the Madden games started playing them on the regular on Madden 10 and I personally like the Madden 11. If you buy the game new there is a code on the booklet so you can play online for free, but if you buy it used you have to download content to be able to play online and that is a joke to me seeing how at this point the buyer already has a good bit invested in their gaming already and doesn't need any extra cost. As far as the gameplay I really like it compared to Madden 10 the defense is a little better as far as the AI goes, makes playing a little more challenging, especially breaking off a big run. The new gameflow option is kinda neat,it picks a play for you if your not sure about how to pick the play or just learning, for newer Madden junkies like myself it will help you learn Madden a little easier. As far as the franchise options I found that all the same options are available as on Madden 10, just not during the season, you have to wait till the off season to use alot of them though such as team income options. Overall if you new or fairly new to Madden you'll probably like the game, if you are a diehard fan thats been playing for years you might wanna wait till next years!

This is my first madden game ever on the Xbox 360. I am not a all-out football fan, but I got the game because my friends told me to. I am not so proud that I listened to them. First of all, I thought the graphics were pretty good, and didn't notice any weird frame rates, but I did notice some weird ball physics. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but when a real football player can intercept it very easily, the wide open defender just lets the ball bounce of his chest or face. I don't know if I am suppose to press a button, but sometimes it gets really frustrating. I like Gameflow since I don't know much plays, but I see that some people hate it. I just find it very noob friendly and good.I got the new game for only 20$, and I hate it how you have to spend bunch of MS points to play the game. But, since I am not a football fan, I just play it whenever friend comes over. Which means that I won't even the touch the manager mode or online. In fact, I didn't even use the code that they give me or online yet. Its not a bad game, but I just didn't have any fun time.

Defense does not intercept every bad pass like they did in 09 and earlier. The only reason some one would not rank this 3 stars or higher is they don't like the changes.New kick meter is great, is like the pitch meter in mlb The show 10, and you can better adjust to online meter lag.Strategy pad could use some work. But madden team is doing patches, so maybe it will go in.Online team play is fun, except it lacks the depth of NHL frachines club play, and I wish the same camera was used for defense as it is for offense.Defense Ai could use some work, but sliders can be tweaked for that.

as usual the the current years game is better than lasts years game. the graphics are better and the game seems to be alot smoother especially the running game. i wish though that they didnt get rid of the turbo button they let you run faster when you get in an open area but im sure some will be like me and still going for the turbo button. they changed some but not all, the franchise and superstar game modes are still the same but the game play is just better than last years. ive bought madden every year since Ray Lewis was on the cover and as usual they always change or enhance something. this game is a buy especially if your a NFL fan i would have give it a 4 1/2 out of 5 but you cant so irounded it off to 5.The Good:new broadcaster Gus Johnson is betterbetter graphicssmoother gameplayThe Bad:the new game flow is useless and if like me you will just go to the play bookdidnt change superstar that much
