Think of this as less of a controller and more of a kit - ideally, you're picking this up because you're looking at the joystick modding scene and someone recommended this to you as a good platform for mods. I'll say it's great for a lot of that, especially as you have something workable while you gather up your parts, though it has a few caveats. To keep this subsidized (ideally, you're also picking the stick up during a sale, and if not I'd suggest waiting for one) Mad Catz has to at least PRETEND to keep people from hacking it up. For joystick mods, you will have to break off some glue they used to secure the plate and connector. You'll likely have to buy adapter plates if you're using Seimitsu sticks, and you'll need a crash course in rewiring if you get one that takes quick disconnects instead of the 5-pin molex jack. You will likely need a lot of goo gone and patience if you want to change the panel art, and the bent panel means you don't get the luxury of doing an acrylic panel either. Replacing buttons is in fact probably the easiest thing to perform on this stick, as the default ones are basic snap-ins with quick disconnects. Last but not least, the screws are cheap, so you need to be careful or have replacements right off the bat because they WILL strip to unusability in short order. If you're a beginning modder and you like a challenge, this is a perfect stick to play with! If you're just looking for a stick - ANY stick - to use straight off, sure okay this would work. If you're expecting pro parts right out or want a friendlier, more versatile platform to mod on, save your cash.

Thanks to the rise of great PC emulators like MAME and retro releases on Xbox live you can relive those simple, yet very playable games from the eighties. You can snack with Pacman or space out with invaders. However, with the joypads of today it's like trying to eat soup with a fork, it's possible, just not much fun. So that's a long winded way of explaining why I purchased the Xbox 360 WWE All Stars Brawl Stick. The first thing that greets you when you pull it from the cardboard box is the garish label. I couldn't have been more embarrassed if it had "My Little Pony" all over it. Actually, I think I'd have preferred that. Still if you look online a lot of people have found ways to replace the image.Plus, you didn't buy this stick to stare at; you bought it to rack up some high scores. This stick is PC and Xbox360 compatible. When you plug it in to a Windows 7 PC it will download the drivers for an xbox360 joypad. If you want to use it in MAME and you find it not working check the switch marked LS - DP - RS and try it at a different setting. DP seems to work fine. After getting it running I tried it on a couple of old eighties blasters, and you know what it's pretty good. A little loose in the stick maybe, but for a beginner it's certainly worth the price. And here's the secret. It's upgradable with real arcade parts. If you take a look around the internet you can find tutorials on how to turn this cheap stick into a real arcade monster. But whatever you do, don't look directly at its artwork. You may go blind.

I miss the days of arcade games where button smashing was pretty much all there was to video games. That isn't to say that I don't like new age videogames but I always smile when an opportunity for throwback games presents itself.WWE All Stars combines the best of both worlds. It gives us the 80s superstars we grew up on but also prevents itself in a game fashion that is relatively modern. For those of us who miss those old controllers that we used to play games like Mortal Kombat on, WWE made this brawl stick, which is about as close to arcade gaming as you can get on a modern system.Of course is doesn't come cheap. The brawl stick is currently priced at $30 higher than the game itself.I tried to see if the stick would work with the older WWE games and it sort of does, but it's obvious that this role stick was made for the WWE All-Star game itself. If you're looking for a retro controller to go with old legends such as the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan, look no further. This brawl stick will give you just that. But if you are not the sentimental type, you should probably pass on this controller. It's quite expensive, though if this is what you're looking for it's perfectly reasonable, but I don't think it entirely changes the dynamic of the aim. I don't think I would've bought it, but it was given to me for free for the purpose of this review.

Before getting into details, let me sum this up by saying this is a good 'starter' stick. It isn't exceptional in any way, but it can be easily modded and improved over time to be as good as you want it to be.The device itself is quite a bit heavier than I expected - which is a good thing. It feels very solid and doesn't tend to move around unexpectedly when you're slamming it around. The buttons are very good in my opinion, and the other controls and switches are well placed and easy to get to when needed. The biggest problem for me is the responsiveness of the joystick itself. It just doesn't seem to react how I expect all the time. After playing for a while,I switched over to just playing Pac-Man to see how the joystick did there and I was amazed at how poorly it performed. The upside is that there are many guides online for modding this unit with a higher-end joystick, so I think I may go that route.Overall, I would recommend this Brawl Stick if you're looking to switch from a standard controller to something a bit more customized to the game. Don't expect this to be arcade quality out of the box, but keep in mind that it can be upgraded fairly easily.

First off let me say that this does work really well. Nicely balanced on the lap or table and the ease of the joystick make brawling so much more fun that with a cheaper model. I suppose you get what you pay for but I do find this a bit pricey. I wasn't impressed with the artwork but the focus is on the job and it does do well in that catagory.Buttons are touchy so you don't need to use tons of pressure on them to get them to do what you'd like and the cord has a more than acceptable length to make it easy to not be on top of the tv when you're playing. I have had a few other controllers where the cords were a bit short and that was such a pain in the behind. At least someone was thinking when they made this.Overall this does exactly what's needed. I'm not much on this type of gaming as I prefer role playing more but I honestly can't dis this for anything other than the $$$ price. Mayhap it's because I'm female and this is more of something the male of our species would enjoy and most likely be more than happy with.

The WWE All Stars joystick is based on Madcatz' own Street Fighter IV Fightsticks, the cheaper cousin of the infamous Tournament sticks. That said, the stick's build quality and parts have been improved over its predecessor, and it's just a better-feeling stick overall. True, the buttons are still a bit spongey and soft-feeling, but you'll be surprised at how sensitive they are, and you can quickly and easily switch the buttons and the joystick itself out for genuine arcade machine parts if you so desire.I only got the 360 stick because a) it would work with my 360 and my PC, and b) the PS3 sticks had suddenly gone up in price for no reason (thanks, gzoop! >:( ), but I've been well pleased with my purchase so far.I'll definitely be buying the PS3 version when I get paid next - providing it stays at its current <£25 price, that is! ;p

I bought this with the intention of modding, and it was be my first attempt to mod a stick in general. And let me tell you that its one of the easiest things I have ever done, all I did was pop the back off and take out the old parts and replace them with Sanwa parts, then head to office max and print out a new skin for it (the current artwork is terrible) the whole time using nothing more than a screwdriver. I end up with a basically brand new fighting stick for around $80. Bottom line, if you looking at getting into modding or just want a stick to call you own, go with this.

This stick is the perfect beginner level fight stick. It's significantly cheaper than almost any other stick on the market, yet is still of comparable quality to slightly more expensive sticks. It's not Tournament Edition quality, but buttons and sticks can be replaced with arcade quality parts, as well as better art. The only downside is that opening it to replace parts voids the warranty.Stick is crisp and responsive with a square gate, and the buttons are nicely sized and spaced, though stiffer than Sanwa buttons.

first of all i must say that i immediately modified this stick on receipt so i cannot say how well the original parts work. what makes this stick such a great deal is the aftermarket possibilities (please not you will void your warranty); high end sanwa parts can easily be put in.The stick is heavy and tends to stay in place. also, I am able to play with this stick rested in my lap; but it could have benefitted from a longer profile. but then again, if they did that no one would buy the more expensive sticks!

The WWE All Stars Brawlstick for the xbox 360 is a brilliant arcade stick as I have used it for Street Fighter and all games alike. The only down side to it is the stick is a not as great as the more expensive models but it's good enough if you are on a tight budget (like me). Overall if anyone is not to sure about going for this one JUST GO FOR IT it is overall brilliant it's just the stick that gets a bit annoying but I forgot to mention you can take it apart and replace it if you know how....

I am an old school arcade player (being over 40) and when my daughter got an X-Box 360, I wanted to play some fighting games against her, but can't stand the controllers. Found this on Amazon for a very low price compared to "professional" ones, and found that it is fantastic for my needs.Buttons are very responsive (my too much at times) and it gives me a fighting chance when playing against the kids.Would recommend for anyone wanting an arcade style controller.

25.1.2012

Ordered it along with a new Sanwa stick. The old stick is EXTREMELY tight, and has a couple deadzones. Switched out for the Sanwa stick. The buttons aren't the best, but you can fix that for 10$ or so) All-in-all, fantastic for the price. If you can find this thing "used" (like new, or at least "good") AND you buy a new joystick, you'll have a 70$ TE.

16.7.2013

This was the cheapest arcade stick I could find. So far, the buttons and joystick have held up to a good few hours of Injustice. I absolutely can't stand the "art" on the face plate, but who looks at their controller while playing? And besides, if this thing weren't quite so ugly, it wouldn't be nearly as cheap. Definitely a worthwhile trade off.

5.2.2013

i ripped off all the stickers and replaced the buttons with sanwa quiet buttons. the stick is garbage, it broke after 20 matches on MvC3. so now i need to purchase a replacement stick to fix it with. this controller was made for wwe battles, and not actual fighting games.

8.12.2015

This fits the purpose great, I purchased one second hand for £20 and I've quite easily been able to replace the buttons for Sanwa buttons and I fit a Hori joystick BUT I needed to make a few modifications inside because the joystick is too large to fit.
