I have used the Luminette 2 - SAD Light Therapy Glasses for a couple of weeks and I have been more pleased with them than I expected to be. Over the years I have found that using various types of daylight and blue light devices has had a positive effect on me personally during the winter months – but this may not be the case for everyone however. Luminette is a Belgian designed product that has been in use for around ten years and seems to meet the required safely standards for this type of product – which is reassuring for something used so close to your eyes. The product is very nicely presented and the package includes the Luminette therapy glasses, a protective case which safely holds the glasses and the supplied accessories,a micro USB cable plus a UK plug adaptor with two USB output ports, a lens cleaning cloth, a head strap and a full instruction manual. All the items are well made and of high quality even though the glasses are very lightweight and made from plastic. The product looks rather professional although you may wonder quite where your hundred and sixty pounds has gone – R & D probably takes a fair chunk of it. The glasses take around five hours to charge completely and one of the LEDs will flash during charging – when charging is complete the LED remains lit and the glasses should then be good for up to ten light sessions depending on the light level used.If you suffer from SAD during the winter months I would try a cheaper static therapy lamp first to see if you gain any benefit from this type of product before spending this much on the Luminette 2. If you do find light treatment helps with SAD then the Luminette 2 is a quite convenient design and may suit a busy lifestyle. I found the product easy to use and pleasant enough to wear – but I would only use it indoors as you will certainly look rather eccentric when wearing it! This is a very personal product that may work for some people but not for others so is impossible to recommend to everyone. This type of product makes sense to me but I can understand why others may be sceptical about the effectiveness – if it works for you then you may well consider it to be money well spent. Four stars for design and value at the current price of around one hundred and sixty pounds.

First, the case notes: I have suffered from Seasonal Affective Disorder for most of my life, believing that it was simply depression for many years until I tried out a sad light back in 2009, I think it was. After using it for a couple of weeks, my life had changed for the better - I had more energy, I wasn't suicidal, and perhaps most importantly I knew what was actually wrong with me all that time.I use sad lights from October through to the middle of March during most years - the disorder is caused by not getting enough sunlight (they are very popular in Sweden, which has a very dark winter season). The light tricks the body into thinking it's getting more sunlight than it is - it's as simple as that. These lights don't work for everybody, though; some people find that they experience no positive effects at all, whereas others find the light too uncomfortable to sit in front of as it seems quite bright when you use it the first time (most people get used to it very quickly). This novel design solves the problem I always had - I use it first thing in the morning for 20-30 minutes, and whereas with a standard desk based design I would be forced to sit where the light was (or move it with me with the portable designs). Here, the design sits above your sight line - it can be worn with glasses - leaving me free to do the other things that I have to do before I leave for work. The design itself is bland and neutral, and I have no idea why sad lights are so expensive, but this is the best design for a sad light that I have ever used. I think the glasses design makes them more effective, too.

My wife suffers from lower energy levels during the longer darker winter days due to the lack of blue light levels, as a result the she feels more lethargic than she does in the summer. We have tried SAD lights previously, however they are a little impractical requiring you to sit in front of them for a significant amount time. These glasses are somewhat different in allowing you to go about your normal daily routine (well as normal as it can be with these on). The basic idea is that your field of vision is open the lights shine down from above at an angle so you can go about your everyday routine whilst wearing these. Since the are portable they are battery operated via an inbuilt rechargeable battery (using the supplied micro USB cable). One charge allows about 10 20 minute sessionCost wise, more expensive offering the same benefits as a non portable SAD light, however much more practical and can be taken whilst travelling thanks to the hand storage pouch.Overall an excellent solution which appears a little expensive, however if you are chronic SAD sufferer this may be just be your wisest investment.

I've used the luminette for quite a few years now, it's a good compromise for someone with sad who has to get up for work, have breakfast while on the move around the house. Plus! I can watch tv or film and almost forget they are on. As for debate of blue light being effective, golite blue uses blue light, litebook has green and blue tint, Valkee has blue enhanced light, full spectrum light have blue enhanced white light.I had serious sad years ago and these devises have helped me and friends. I'm not saying buy only luminette because they all work fine. I personally use luminette in morning and Valkee when out and about. I must agree on price, but all sad lights are over priced. Works for me,make up your own mind. Happy with glasses?

I really love my Luminette SAD light therapy glasses. I really struggle through the dark months, in particular October and November and using these for 20 minutes morning and evening (plus my vitamin D spray!) really does help clear the feeling of doom I would otherwise experience. These are designed to be worn for 30 minutes per day and as they are worn like glasses you can go about your usual routine - I tend to put them on when I come out the shower and am pottering around making breakfast and feeding the cat.If you want to try light therapy I'd really recommend these as a more portable method - not being stuck next to a fixed light for 30 minutes of your morning is a godsend if you are shorton time like me!

I have had Seasonal Affective Disorder for many years and needed a new light visor to get me through the winter. The Luminette 2 is comfortable to wear and it does not overheat the eyes. This means I can wear it for the full therapeutic dose without eye strain. I love the rainbow spectrum and the use of LEDs means it really is cool! I find people do ask why I have lights on my head, but mostly they are curious and politely interested and they want to know about SAD. I would certainly recommend it to anyone with the winter blues. My brother travels a lot by plane and gets jet lag, so I propose letting him borrow my Luminette 2 to see how he gets on with it!

I've been wearing these for around 10 days (including a really dark dull rainy day) and have notice a marked improvement in my mood. They are quite light an easy to wear, they felt a little strange at first but I got used to them and you can wear them over your specs.I have tried therapy lamps before and whilst they do work for me I found these to be of more benefit and one of the main benefits was the fact that I can move around whilst wearing them and get on with my daily life whereas with a lamp you have to sit in it's vacinity in order to get the benefit. I think these are a great idea, expensive but worth it.

I have had SAD for as long as I can remember. The normal light therapy lamps didn't work for me, probably because I was too inconsistent using them. These glasses, however, are much easier to use and worked wonders for me. Got them as a Christmas present and I've been using them every day since. Not a trace of Seasonal Affective Disorder left in me and I was hit HARD before. I would recommend trying them if you suffer from winter depression. They really do their job. On another note, I don't struggle with insomnia anymore either.

These are an incredible product. I'm usually really groggy in the morning and find it hard to get out of bed. Since getting the Luminette I've noticed a big difference in my mood in the morning and that I've been able to actually get out of bed more easily. The Luminette is really comfortable, I wear it while I'm starting my morning, drinking tea or having breakfast. Or sometimes just sitting and thinking.Overall I think these are great value and brilliantly designed.

I go to work in the dark and leave work in the dark. Wearing these glasses while I get ready in the mornings seems to have helped my body clock and I now sleep much better.

These are either brilliantly effective, or maybe it's all placebo and I simply think they are brilliant. Hard to tell, but either way I'm happy! Highly recommended
