Touring the West Coast of the US for a few weeks for summer and with two kids in the back of the car, and phones won't be enough to keep the occupied when on the road. I asked them what they were going to do and they said they wanted to take their laptops. Now, phones can be charged in the car or from normal battery packs but not devices that have UK 3 pin plugs. Hence, this purchase. Lots of adaptors to choose from, apple, sony, Asus and Lenovo etc. Easy to use and although powerful, quite compact. All you have to do is click through to the voltage you want on the DC out, attach the correct adaptor to the cable and then plug it in, done.This isn't just for the kids though,

New battery for my phone to take camping and travelling is ideal. Holds good charge and works well with my phone.
