=== Introduction: ===The PowerCore 5000 is a small yet powerful portable charger. It provides fast charging capabilities for all of your USB powered devices while on the go. It is fairly small, but still packs a punch, and can even charge devices with large batteries, like iPads, to around ~70% with ease.=== Packaging/Unboxing Experience: ===The PowerCore 5000 ships in a very diminutive package, which is something I appreciate. I hate seeing companies package tiny objects in big air-filled boxes. Plus, 100% of the packaging materials included with the PowerCore are recyclable, something I feel Anker should be commended for.Inside the package you will receive:1 - PowerCore 50001 - Travel pouch1- Micro-USB cable1 - Welcome guide=== Specifications: ===The PowerCore 5000 weighs just 4.7 ounces (132 grams), and is a roughly 4.25" x 1.25" cylinder. The PowerCore has a 5000 mAh battery. The unit has a single IQ charging output port (regular female USB), and a single Micro-USB input port to recharge via its included Micro-USB cable. There are a series of LED indicator lights on the side which indicates charge level. And a simple button which you can press to activate charging, or to view the currently available charge.=== Key Features: ===I found the PowerCore 5000 to be very nice to use. It charges quickly (using a modern USB power adapter), and provides a significant boost to your device’s available battery life. 5000 mAh is enough to charge most modern smartphones to from 0 to 100% two times (or more). Some devices that contain abnormally large batteries may charge less than 2x, but it will still be a big boost. The side button is easy to find, even when you’re holding your phone and not looking closely at the PowerCore 5000.One additional thing I really like about the PowerCore 5000 is that the LED indicator lights are not too bright. Many of our electronic devices contain super bright LEDs these days. One of my use cases is charging my phone while lying in bed, and having a super bright LED shining in your face is very annoying. The PowerCore 5000 does not have that problem at all.I tested the PowerCore 5000 with my iPhone 6s, and my iPad Air 2. Both devices charged very quickly. I would definitely suggest purchasing some short USB charging cables (which Anker also offers), which pair very well with a small battery charger like this. I have both Micro-USB and Lightning cables, which make the charging experience much better. Having some 3+ foot long cable hanging around isn’t a great experience while you’re mobile. The PowerCore 5000 is small, but not tiny. It is still small enough to fit in your pocket, but you’ll know it is there. I’ll plan to store it in a backpack or briefcase most of the time, not something I’d generally carry around in my pocket due to its size. But that size is what enables the massive 5000 mAh of charging capacity, so I believe the tradeoff may be worth it for some.=== Conclusion: ===The Anker PowerCore 5000 is a well-designed, well made, and affordable device. It allows me to charge my devices quickly, while on the go. I travel frequently, so having the extra battery capacity around will definitely come in handy during long flights. When you also consider that this is coming from a company like Anker, which is known for their high-quality products and strong warranty/support - I think we've got a winner.=== Score: ===Packaging: 5/5Design: 5/5Fit & Finish: 4/5Performance: 5/5Value: 5/5Overall score: 5/5

Upon receiving the package in the mail, I loved the little box the charger came in, absolutely hassle free in opening! The PowerCore was wrapped as to safeguard against bumps and scratches. As a little bonus, it came conveniently packed with an essential microUSB cable and even a neat little carrying pouch to protect it from the elements! This portable battery is not to be underestimated. 5000 mAh is a pretty decent amount of juice to pack in a surprisingly small form factor like this, and is enough to charge lots of phones and even some tablets from 0 to 100 at least once, and then some. All that comes down tidbits like how you use your device and whether or not you continue using it while you charge it with this PowerCore or any power bank for that matter. The size is nothing to scoff at.It is just a tad larger than Anker's PowerCore mini and no bigger than your conventional pocket LED light, but still retains relative dimensions that make it easy to slip into a purse or even your front blue jean pockets. I also own a PowerCore USB-C 20100 and this is a HUGE difference in regards to size. The black matte design and aesthetics are very pleasing to the eye and is very smooth and easy to grip in your hand so don't you worry about it sliding through your fingers. There isn't a whole lot to brag about aside from features that have become standard and essential for Anker products, but that's not a bad thing at all. The PowerCore 5000 features three tiny LED lights to display the battery's current capacity with a push of a button. The single USB port delivers power up to a maximum of 2A using PowerIQ, a technology that dynamically adjusts the battery's charging current to replicate the OEM wall charger to fit your device's needs and limitations and VoltageBoost, which helps overcome resistance with any USB cable you use, all this allowing for the fastest (in some cases slightly faster than the OEM wall charger) yet safe and steady charge to your device. I tested this out with my HTC One M9, the supplied microUSB cable that came in the PowerCore 5000 box, and an Android app called "Ampere". Everything definitely holds up. The app reported a charge current of ~1.5A, which is what the OEM wall charger that came with the phone supplied! Pretty cool.Recharging the PowerCore 5000 was no sweat. The microUSB port used for recharging the portable battery accepts an input of up to 2A as well. It just depends what type of wall charger or other power source you use to recharge it. I used a PowerPort 2 that I own and it completely charged the battery in about an hour! All in all, this wonderful little battery is a great companion! Take it on a road trip, on a hike, camping, you name it, this little battery coupled with the carrying pouch will go along with you and keep your device powered up to make it through the day!

I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest. When I first took the PowerCore 5000 out its box I could feel it's smooth matte black finish in my hands and noticed it's light weight. Looking at it you can see a round button on the side with 3 lights above it that light up white. Those 3 lights indicate the charge level of the PowerCore. On the top there is a female USB output that puts out 5 volts at a max of 2 amps which helps charge your small devices faster or be able to power a tablet. Under the female USB port there is a micro USB port to charge the PowerCore its self. The overall dimensions are 4.215 inches tall by 1.271 inches in diameter.(4 1/4" by 1 1/4")This battery is good to charge a smartphone, action camera, GPS or give a tablet a boost. When you want to charge a device, you simply plug the charging cable, that you normally use, into that device and the other end into the female USB port on the PowerCore. The charge should start automatically but if it does not then press the button on the side to start charging. The 3 white lights remain lit when charging either your device or when charging the PowerCore its self and will turn off when the charge is complete. If you are going away for a night or spending the weekend out, this battery bank will be great for you! Depending on the size of battery your smartphone has, you could get 2-2.5 charges. I got 2.5 full charges on my iPhone 5C.In addition to this charger from Anker I have the astro mini and upgraded astro mini. This charger is a little taller and wider than the mini but are similar in weight. Another battery that compares to the PowerCore is the Flip 20 from Goal Zero. The PowerCore 5000 has a 5000 mAh battery, is a little taller and is a cylinder shape. The Flip 20 has a 5200 mAh battery, is shorter and rectangular in shape.Over all this is a great charger and look forward to using it all the time especially on weekend trips. I like the 2A max output over the 1A on the astro mini.In the 2/4 pictures below from left to right: Anker astro mini, Anker PowerCore 5000, and Goal Zero Flip 20. In the other pictures is a USB fan and the Light a Life mini from Goal Zero that is a portable LED lantern.

Following are my initial thoughts after using the PowerCore 5000 Portable Charger for approximately 2 weeks:Packaging - The Battery arrived securely packaged in an eco-friendly and frustration free packaging with warranty/contact information and clear instructions as I've come to expect from Anker. The Battery - First of all the weight and feel of this unit screams quality! At 5000 mAh this external battery charger can charge many of your devices multiple times, with an iPhone 6 battery at 1810 mAh, iPhone 6 Plus at 2915 mAh and an iPad Air 2 at 7340 mAh. Of course this will depend on actual usage conditions and battery state. LED status lights offers instant visual indication for remaining battery power.Fast Charging Technology - Exclusive PowerIQ and Voltage Boost charging technologies provides the fastest possible charge up to 2A.Size - Anker lists the size as 10cm tall and 3cm wide, in my experince the size was perfect for a pants pocket without feeling bulky. Cylindrical design can be slightly harder to conceal compared to a flat rectangular style battery so keep this in mind.Carrying Case - Included is a mesh carrying case with draw string closure, perfect for carrying the external battery and included micro usb cable.Warranty - 18 months!!! What manufacturer stands behind their products, not to mentions batteries for this length of time?Usage - After a few weeks of usage I can absolutely recommend this unit to anyone in need of portable power who may be away from AC outlets for an extended period of time. No longer any need to carry an individual devices AC adapter or worry about where I'm going to plug in during the day. The speed of device charging coupled with the unbeatable price and quality of the Anker PowerCore 5000 Portable Charger make this a must have device for all.Cons - In my particular usage I have not been able to identify any cons. All in all, I love the PowerCore 5000 Portable Charger, inexpensive and quality/features and warranty are top notch compared to the competition, great addition to my Anker family of accessories.

This is a review of the Anker PowerCore 5000 Ultra-Compact Portable Charger. I received this device for review from Anker and am giving my honest and unbiased opinion.I have owned a number of portable chargers from Anker. I’ve been pleased with all of them. I have found that this PowerCore 5000 to be no less of a great device. When I first opened the box, I the size of the device did not meet my expectations. I expected it to be a little smaller, but it’s not large by any means. I was accustomed to the sizing of the little PowerCore Mini lipstick charger that I have. This one is a little larger in diameter and just a little bit taller. The funny thing is that you see the size of it and think it’s going to have a noticeable heaviness or weight to it.But, when I removed it from the box, it was rather light. On the side is a button to click and check to see how much charge remains. There are three white LEDs on the side that tells you how much roughly in thirds how much charge remains. The device has a slightly textured exterior so it’s not so easy for it to slip out of your hands. My daily phone right now is a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 with a 3,760 mAh battery inside. I drained it down to 0% and let it shut down. Then I plugged in my new and nifty PowerCore 5000 to see how fast it would charge.Using the included USB charging cable, it charged my phone to 75% in roughly an hour. A full charge not long after that. That was pretty good considering I used the included cable and not my Anker PowerLine USB cable. If I had, the charge would have been faster I believe. The device comes with a nylon bag with a drawstring, to keep it and the small USB cable inside. That’s it in a nutshell. Just a dependable and well working device that is a perfect size to give you a charge when you need one but not be a hassle to carry on your person, in a purse or a briefcase/laptop bag.Glad I got to use it for a little while. My youngest daughter has already taken it from me.

I love these little portable battery packs. I know they are mainly used to charge your devices...but I use them for a slightly different purpose. I am a videographer, and I use a couple Tascam portable audio recorders on all of my shoots. Those recorders have the option of going on AA battery power, or you can plug in a USB cable and use a wall charger. I have discovered that if you plug one of these battery packs into the USB port, it will also power the units as well. I have been on some all day shoots, and these things easily power those recorders all day long. I have a couple different ones from Anker, and I just picked up one of these as well! I have occasionally used these to charge up my phone or tablet as well, and they work great! The smaller ones like these easily charge up my Nexus 5X or my Nexus 9 tablet. I pretty much always have one or more of these with me...they are worth every penny for the peace of mind to know that even if your phone runs out of juice...you still have plenty of power to charge it right back up again without being tied to a wall outlet. As far as the size goes...might be a little big to keep in your pocket. The diameter is slightly bigger than a quarter...and its about 4" long. It comes with a nice little carrying pouch that is big enough to hold the battery, and the supplied USB cable, so you can always keep them together and not lose them. There is also one button on the side that you can press to get an idea of how much juice is left in the battery. There is a series of 3 lights that will show you how much is left.I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest. Feel free to look at my reviews of other products so you can see that if I don't like something, I have no problem saying that in my reviews :)

If you travel extensively and rely on a smartphone and tablet, an external battery power bank is essential to take with you. Without one, it is not always convenient to find an electrical outlet on the road, especially if you are hours away from your next stop. It is also never fun fighting for an outlet at the airport or in case of emergency when caught stranded off the grid. If you rely on Bluetooth, maps or other location features, your device's battery will drain even faster. So, if you have experienced any of these scenarios, you will appreciate the Anker PowerCore 5000.As one of Anker's newer compact units, it boasts PowerIQ technology, safety circuits and a full 2A of charging output whenever you need it.You will have peace of mind knowing you can recharge quickly whatever your circumstance. Personally, I keep Anker power banks in two cars and take two others when I travel. I carry one with me, and the other goes inside my luggage. The cylinder shape and light weight make it ideal to carry in a pocket, purse, backpack or computer bag. The PowerCore 5000 is my new favorite to carry due to the ability to charge either an iPhone 6s or iPad Pro. Charging the iPad was something my older Astro 5300 barely managed, although the similar physical size was perfect. The new PowerCore 5000 now charges it with ease. 5000mAh can also keep my iPhone 6s going another day and a half. I only wish it had a built-in flashlight. I have owned Anker power banks for over five years and they have never let me down. They have also saved me from being stranded without a connection more times than I can count. Attached is a photo showing the size of the PowerCore 5000 to some of the earlier models.

This is a compact charger which can easily fit in your pocket or your bag easily while you are on the go. I purchased another Anker compact charger which charges my iPhone 6S ONE time only, but this one does it twice which is great, since it is so compact and slightly bigger than the other one I got before.Very easy to charge this device, simply plug it into any wall charger or the computer and it will charge the battery in few hours. I charged my 6S with this when my phone was at 4%, it charged for about an hour and half and got my phone to 95% which is impressive. This comes with carrying pouch and micro USB cable for charging the PowerCore 5000. It pumps out 2A which is really nice for charging any phone,I charged my wife's Galaxy S6 Edge+ on this and this took about 2 hours to fully charge her phone. This will really help me when we go to amusement parks since we take lots of pictures and videos of the kids and battery dies pretty fast.Only this about this that bothered me is that it is round and bulges out from the pocket, if it were flatter it would be easier to fit in the pocket, but I know it would be little bigger since they were able to cramp more battery into a cylindrical shape.I did not get full 2 charges as I was supposed to, got to about 60-65% on the second charge and it stopped. Could be that the PowerCore was not fully charged or thats how much it can do. Anker makes really big capacity ones as well, and if you want more, then go for the larger ones, but if you are entering the portable charger market, then this one is a good product to start with.

Anker PowerCore 5000 Portable ChargerI was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest1. Product exterior – size comparisons, weight, finish, etc. – video is even betterSize of PowerCore is round and bit larger then earlier 3200 model which was like a lipstick. Product feels solid. Supplied carry pouch is a good addition to keep product safe. As I continue to use Matt finish, I am coming to like it and its not slippery This helps charge my Galaxy and especially it works as backup power for my go pro and act as handle.2. Description of use – ease of installation, specific examples of how you used the product, performance, notable features, etc.Pack came pre-charged (at 60%) and is just plug and play. I used used 2.4 AMP charger to charge it and just took couple of hours to charge it 100%. It automatically starts and turns off when not in use. First device I charged was my iPhone6. It provided very fast changing, happy with performance. I see most use of this charger to be with phones and small devices.3. Ideal users – what kind of consumer would benefit from this product?6" phone and small devices like go-pro and verizon internet pack will likely to carry this as they have smaller charging need. I think is a good sweet spot between 3000 mAhor higher and 10000 mAh. I used again with my Raspberry and it hums along all day, making it perfect for portable use.4. Summary of overall impression.Overall solid product. Will buy and recommend to friend.

I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promise that my review is fair and honest. As you can see in the photos, you cannot beat the size for a device with 5000 capacity. It's light and smaller then your average sized wallet. It is super easy to use with an easy to see battery gauge that is very clear and accurate in letting you know how much battery power you have left or what the current charging level is at.Any smartphone user would really benefit from this product and at this point as my phone dies multiple times a day (conversation for a different time), but anyone who has battery issues as I do will love this.I have used over 25 different portable chargers over the years and this is as good or better then the ones I have tried, including charge speed (for non quick charge it is uniquely fast, less then a percent a minute), its durability, and battery life.I keep it with me all day, and I do not feel its weight in my pocket and I even charge it on the go from my pocket to the holster, which is super efficient. The cord is extremely durable and long enough to use even from my pocket, so it is out of mind and still in use. Obviously you ca get any charging cable but its nice to initially have along (but not too long) and a durable one.I have already dropped it numerous times, not a scratch so far it is a really durable piece! very click too!Overall VERY happy with this product, and I highly recommend it for anyone at this price especially.

There are various people on here who say they are Anker fanbois, I have thought in the past that a cheap wire is as good as an expensive one, mainly because I've bought expensive ones which weren't as good as a cheap one!I am officially an Anker fanboi and advocate!Don't buy anything else.CUSTOMER SERVICE :Is FANTASTIC, I had a defective charger and they sent out a new one no probs, no sending back and forth, just a new one in two days.CABLES:Like I say, I used to think any old ones would do, but a cheap cable may have high resistance or bad connections leading to poor charge times or overheating. Those two tiny nibbles on a micro USB plug should be sticking up, cheap cables loose their springiness quickly.Mum's fussy phone wouldn't charge from a 1 amp charger unless it was an anker cable because they deliver the full current.Don't kid yourself you are saving money buying pound shop cables, pay £5 and have a cable that will last you for 'life' (at least as long as you have your phone!)CHARGERS:Brilliant in all ways, I have the small pocket sized for around and about, always gives a full charge, the big daddy one 26000mah does me for a camping trip for 4 days for vape, phone and mp3 player, with maybe a few hour top up charge in the pub!TORCHES! :They do torches as well! Bright, light up everything torches, powered by aaa or for a vape your trusty 18650 battery.Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant.RegardsAnker Fanboi

Here are my thoughts on the Anker PowerCore 5000 Portable Charger after a few weeks of use:PROS:- Securely packaged in an eco-friendly and frustration free packaging with all the usual instructions and warranty/contact information.- Ready to go once taken out of the box.- Excellent build quality with a premium feel that Anker excels at against other brands in this category.- Small unit comparable to a very small TV remote which has no problem being placed in a bag or even a pocket when charging despite it's cylindrical design.- The supplied travel pouch and micro-USB cable are quality additions which make a product of this price feel premium.- Capacity wise,I've found that 5000mah gets me about two and a 1/4 charges on my iPhone 5C and one and a 1/4 charges on my OnePlus 3.- The fast charging technology with PowerIQ is a bonus which provides the fastest possible charge for your device up to 2A.- 18 month warranty with excellent customer support at Anker.CONS:- Lack of a flashlight.- Slower charging times than devices with QuickCharge or Dash charging.- Heavier than expected.SUMMARY:Having tried a few cheaper portable chargers which have subsequently been returned, I keep coming back to Anker. It's not hard to see why - excellent build quality, great customer support and decent value prices. A really good on-the-go power solution.

So got one of these as it said fast charging technology. Should have look more into it. I use an S6 Edge and it came with a fast charger. This gets my phone in about an hour charged up, and I hoped this would as well. It doesn’t. Other than that, I actually have no issue with the battery. It works good, it’s able to charge both my S6Edge and the missus Note 3 once, to full charge, so it does indeed have 5000mAh, not like other power banks from other producers that shall remain nameless, that couldn’t hold a candle, were way more bulky and heavy. It fits into the inside pocket of my suits jacket and isn’t very noticeable, but tailoring might also be a factor with that one. It comes in a brown box, like many other things do these days, it have a mesh carrying case with draw strings, which is good for the presentation of the product, but I got rid of it, as it served no purpose, and with a micro USB cable, which doesn’t leave the battery. I think I might become a fan of this producer. It works good for me, as my phone tends to get to 80% before I leave in the morning and reaches 38% by 11:30 (that be 11:30 in the a.m.). Warmly recommend this (and that is not a referral to the fact that the charging unit tends to get warm during...well during charging).

I have been using Anker's PowerCore mini (3200mAh), which is sufficient as an emergency backup battery for my OnePlus 2 (3300mAh) and Fujifilm XQ1 (1010mAh). However, if I'm going to be out and about for an extended period of time, I'd want to have a battery with higher capacity. PowerCore 5000 (obviously 5000mAh) fits the bill; its capacity is 1800mAh more than mini, but it doesn't add much more bulk. See pictures for comparison.PowerCore 5000 has the same "lipstick" style and comes with a mesh pouch and a short USB cable just like mini. The differences I see are 1) it's equipped with PowerIQ, which supposedly provide faster charging, and 2) it has a 3-level power indicator,so it's easy to see how much juice it has left/charged. I did notice a slight difference in charging time while I was testing it with my OnePlus 2.While I think mini is still my first choice for day-to-day use (I'm a wristlet kind of gal - the smaller the better!), I'd definitely take 5000 with me especially if I'm planning on using both my smartphone and digital camera extensively or if my daughter decides to take her Kindle Fire HD (4000mAh) on a flight.Disclaimer: I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, but I promise my review is honest and unbiased.

Certainly small enough to pocket and suitable for around 1.5x charges on a standard phone. The round form factor is preferable to a flat device as it leaves more room for other things in a pocket.Point to note: This device uses a USB micro-B port to charge it up, so if your phone has a newer USB C port you'll need to carry an extra cable for that.Regarding fast charge, it's a little unclear whether this does that or not. Using the official Samsung Galaxy S8 charging cable plugged into this portable charger, the phone displays as "Charging" whereas using a fast charge plug, the phone reports "Fast Charging". That's despite the plug having an output of 2 amps, like this portable charger. That being said, from a single test I plugged my phone (at around 77% battery) into the official plug and it said "41 minutes until charged". I unplugged it, and plugged it into this portable charger and it said the same time to charge. It appeared to charge according to that time estimate, so is it fast charging? Maybe!
