OK, I was pretty careful and took my time as I really didn't want to mess this up and was conscious of the fact that some of the boarding is quite thin for the area I was fixing into and didn't want to cause any splits or weaken the structure, so this took me longer than the stated 45 minutes! I like to think I could probably have done it a lot quicker and you probably could, but it took me around an hour and half altogether to do it properly and very carefully, but it was worth it - it looks brilliant! It's really awesome, absolutely great for any youngster who loves his or her cars or general town play with cars and figures etc and lovely fun to play with them. There are one or two areas where some care or help is needed though - for younger kids, the lift might be a little stiff and they might need a little help with it and some of the smaller add on bits like the petrol station will probably not survive any littler terrors who have their heart set on complete destruction, but otherwise the main structure is pretty solid. The surfaces are really good for cars and the main plastic parts such as the ramps blend fairly seamlessly with the better quality wooden parts - overall it looks really lovely and on that front I think it's a good price. This works very well with a road themed play mat underneath and although I'm sure just about any set of toy cars will work well with it the Le Toy Van sets look really good with this

My son had spoted this garage at easter while spending his easter money, and begged me for it. As we had already bought him his easter gift we thought we would get it for Christmas for him. But all my little one would ask for was the garage for his Birthday. After reading the reviews on Amazon I was really worried about spending so much money on a toy that could fall apart after minutes of play. But as my son had set his heart on it I ordered it. When it arrives I was impresed by the quality the trim around the top of the garage is now rubber, and fitted well to the wood. Not the plastic one that did come on the garage. And the handle for the lift is solid wood, not plastic like before.I think that Le Toy Van have listened to customers and have made improvements to the range. However my son's Grandparents bought him the Airport and sadly the quality is very poor. And has requred alot of mending, I think the airport must have been an older model as it was bought from a shop.I would advise buying a bottle of wood glue if you are buying any toy from the Le Toy Van range. However my son loves his garage and airport and any hassel we have had fixing the airport, is far outweighed by my son's enjoyment of the toy.It is refreshing in this day and age to have toy's like this which stretch childrens imagination.

September vineWe've been playing with this for a while as we wanted to see how it stands up to being played with. So far no problems. It's a well made, sturdy, good looking wooden toy that is surprisingly compact. The fact it is three levels and has a lift means more than one child can play with it at a time. The box says from children 3+. Well, our two year old loves it. He can make the lift go up and down. He has worked out it is the smaller cars that will hurtle down the exit routes and he just generally adores it. Me, I love the fact it is made of wood, does not have sharp corners and is the sort of thing that will look equally good when slightly battered. It took three adults an hour or so to build it.You need a bit of brute strength when it comes to attaching the lift tower. We also had to mark in pencil where the screw holes would come through to make sure we did not splinter the wood. Oh, and screw discipline is important! There are no spares and we we were two short of the intermediate length ones. Fortunately my husband's toolbox had some spares. It is also worth saying my husband really enjoyed putting it together, even when being helped by the two year old. Th two year old, well not only does he love this but he insists on keeping the leaflet with the other toys!

I am delighted with this car garage from Le Toy Van - a smart wooden version of the classic children’s toy over many generations. The garage comes flat packed and with screws and thankfully crystal clear instructions. It requires a Philips head screwdriver, patience, and maybe an hour and a half of uninterrupted time. I am not frightened of a flat pack, but it did take me around 90 minutes to put together, particularly because care is required to ensure that each floor is correctly attached, pillars are pointing correctly, and other features match the picture on the box cover. I only explain this as a reminder to assemble the toy well in advance of the child wanting to play with it!I was pleased with the overall build quality once the garage was assembled, and it really is well made and thought out. The kit comes with a helicopter and car, and you really need a few more cars to make a fun game. I especially liked the manual car lift, car slides connecting the three levels, and the bright colours throughout. This is set to be a favourite toy of my toddler grandson and I am confident it well last for years. It is so refreshing to have a top quality wooden toy in amongst a sea of plastic!I am happy to give this car garage a high recommendation.

This is an impressively large, traditional, wooden toy. It takes quite a while to put together and is – if not complicated – easier with two people. Once constructed, it is certainly easier to leave it so, as you will not want to take the trouble of taking it down, and putting it up, again. Now, although wooden, this does have some plastic pieces and, as other reviewers have pointed out, these can weaken. Just out of interest, I have put this up and let my young nephew play with it over the last week. He does love this and he is not the most careful of children – let’s just say that a number of rampaging dinosaurs have been making parking the cars a little difficult! So far, we haven’t had any breakages, but one of the ramps came loose and we had to use different screws to fix it in properly. That said, this is a good sized toy. It is bright, and colourful, with a number of accessories – such as petrol pumps and a helicopter. It is just a shame that the finishing was not quite what it should be, because this is a good toy and would be perfect for nursery’s or play group, as it is easily large enough for more than one child to play with.

This is a good wooden garage, and my nephew loves it very much indeed – it’s perfect for him to use with his collection of wooden cars, including cars that fit with another brand’s wooden road and rail system. The build is reasonably straightforward, and we got it done in a bit less than the suggested three quarters of an hour, by doing part of the assembly with a cordless drill/driver and a Philips head screwdriver bit. The instructions are clear – pictorial, with easy to follow steps and parts clearly labelled and identifiable. The retro colour scheme of the garage is attractive, and it’s nice that there are three tiers for my nephew to manipulate his toy vehicles in and out. The ‘working’ lift, heli pad, and petrol pumps add exciting detail elements – though it turns out that when my little nephew plays with this a surprising number of vehicles have developed the ability to fly! This garage set does included rather more plastic elements than most Le Toy Van toys – as the ramps and edge barriers on the tiers for the car parking areas are all made from slightly flexible plastic. No issues with build quality.

This is one of those Wow toys that little ones love.It has so much going on and so much play value it has kept our little guy very busy. The garage set takes a while to set up, not that it’s difficult to do so but that there is just so much to it, you do need to follow the instructions and follow them in order too to make sure that you get it set up right, this is quite a frustrating time for little one so if you are thinking about getting this for a birthday gift I would advise building it before giving it to avoid pieces going missing as little hands try to help. The garage itself is good, the paintwork is bright and colourful, the plastic parts are the weak link and they need to be fitted with care and play on those areas can’t be too rough. When built it is prett y large and it doesn’t fold down so needs quite a bit of room to store it, however, it does look good as a sort of ornament in a bedroom.Other toy cars can be used on this as long as they aren’t too big, hot wheels cars work well on the ramps, zooming down them super fast.

I have many happy memories from my childhood about playing with a wooden car garage that my grandad made for me. With all the fancy electronic toys around today, it's nice to see traditional toys like this still being available.I was really impressed with the quality of this wooden garage from Le Toy Van. I took around an hour to put it together and it's really pleasing to see how sturdy it looks and feels when built. The materials used are strong and look like they should last for many years to come. In fact, Le Toy Van appear to have listened to previous owners and have improved some of the original issues that people had with the materials used to build the garage.Having researched into age suitability, these sort of toys tend to be suitable for children in the 3-8+ age range. As your child develops and grows, they can move onto using die-cast cars with it to expand their play, since the garage is of the right proportions.Overall, this is a great traditional toy to inspire a child's imagination and creativity through play.

Well this took a tad longer to build than I anticipated. However the garage has proved to be a hit with the grandchildren.I was initially impressed that this garage is mainly constructed from wood rather than the ubiquitous plastic however it isn’t all solid wood there are composites and plastic parts. The children have loved the garage though and lots of imaginative play has ensued. They have used a variety of cars from their growing collection and all seemed to run ok down the slide etc.Regarding durability this garage seems to be holding up ok - although it will never last as long as the solid plastic ones that have been on the go for years (I’ve still got my sons and he is in his 30s - theboys have used this before the new shiny one arrived). If giving as a gift make sure the parents enjoy a construction challenge! The instructions were easy enough to follow but it just took quite a long time to build and that was with 2 of us....

This is a lovely toy for both boys and girls. It is large, sturdy and bright. The garage needs assembling, some parts carefully, but once that’s done all you have to do is watch the kids and anyone else who wants to join in have fun.The pack of extras includes a car, helicopter and petrol pumps. The pump can fit into a hole at the side of the car as if buying petrol or diesel. The toy is 70% MDF and 22% sustainable and durable rubber wood. The finish is and painted with Farrow & Ball paints.Features of the garage include a working lift and two ramps. Also there are signs and numbers all over the garage, these will encourage number recognition and counting practise. There is a lot of scope for imaginative play with this toy,and the accessories for this range of Le Van toy are very extensive. I particularly like the look of the playmat which adds another dimension of play. This is a separate purchase though.

I remember playing with a similar product with my girls when they were little but it was made of plastic. A great toy. Guaranteed hours of playing. You get a really well made wooden toy garage, a helicopter, and one car. The garage has a petrol pump and a lift. The ramps themselves are plastic.I think children would have preferred the ramps to go right from the top to the bottom so you can push the cars down from the top and see them come out the bottom and drive off. To get the most out of this you really will want to buy more cars and accessories. Plus if you are playing with toy cars then nothing beats a giant car play mat that you can buy for between £10 and £30.This is really very expensive at £90,especially when there are similar wooden garages for sale at about £50, and plastic versions even cheaper than this.

The ‘Le Toy Van Le Grande Garage’ is great and our two-year old loves his. It is brilliant for stimulating his imagination, providing literally hours of fun. He particularly likes rolling his cars down the ramps and then taking them back to the top using the car lift. The Garage is easy to assemble - thanks to the clear pictorial instructions provided - and can be put together in about fifteen minutes from box to build. The build quality is generally excellent and I expect this is something that could be passed down from generation to generation. The only negative is that the fuel pumping station is detached and does not fit neatly under the roof of the car park, meaning it’s not easy to store and is liable to getting lost.Other than that I would highly recommend the Le Toy Van Le Grande Garage.

I love this Le Toy product, the bright colouring is so gorgeous. It is nicely presented and my 9 year old nephews eyes became twice the size when he spotted this product. So I would image many children would be incredibly happy to find this toy garage under their tree on Christmas morning.I love that it is wooden , I find toys that are made from natural materials feel lovely and last years. This brilliant item is strong and sturdy so will take plenty of wear and tear from natural play. It may seem expensive but it is quality value for money. My nephew loves to use his imagination and role play and this encourages this type of play which is so much better than him sitting in front of an ipadscreen .A really fun item that I highly recommend and give 5 stars.

I bought this garage for my 2 yr old daugther. My inlaws got the de facto 1970's Fischer Price garage out of the loft and my daughter loved it. She spent hours playing with it over Xmas.I searched and searched for something similar but you can't get a decent well made simple garage anymore. The plastic garages these days are huge and difficult to operate for smaller hands.Although the price tag of £50 is a bit off putting at first, you get what you pay for. The garage is fantastically well made and easy to assemble.I would without doubt recommend this as a long lasting hours of imagination driven plaything for your child.I can see myself getting the garage out of the loft in 30 years time forthe grandkids to play with.
