As a parent you begin to dread Christmas Eve. Whilst the children are abed and the grandparents sit merry in front of a Morecambe and Wise rerun, the parents get not such rest bite. Think of these poor souls as they spend the night building flat pack toys and making sure everything has batteries included. It only takes one Christmas morning full of tears for you to never forget to be prepared again. The 'Rocking Unicorn Carousel' by Le Toy Van is a wonderful toy, but you are going to want to build it the day before a birthday or Christmas, as a pile of wooden limbs does not go down as well. This Unicorn is a quality piece of painted wood and comes at a quality price.Perhaps at a point that I would expect to buy it built. This is not the case. Thankfully, it is a relatively easy build. The wood is used from a sustainable source adding a little bonus positive vibe. A child is not going to be too worried about that (yet), they are more bothered how it looks and plays. The look is fantastic, nice detailing with clean colouring. The Unicorn looks like it wants to be ridden. The ride itself is old school rocking i.e. a little jerky on the back and forth. It is smoother on a carpeted surface. This is worth doing anyway should your child fall off at all. With its inviting smile and classic movement this 'Rocking Unicorn' is an instant hit with an older baby and older toddler. Just make sure you build it first before they see it.

This carousel inspired rocking horse (unicorn) is a wonderful gift for a child aged 1-3. It is made from rubberwood which I had never heard of before. I was delighted to discover that it is a sustainable wood, a very relevant fact in the times we live in, whilst at the same time it is very strong and looks as if it will last a long time. The box is quite heavy so that is indicative of its sturdiness before you even open it! It requires minimal assembly, it took me less than an hour and I'm not a big DIYer.It is beautifully decorated in pastel yellow, pinks and blues with gold finishing and glitter too; a lot of thought and effort has obviously gone into how it looks and your child will be beaming when they see it made. The paint is non toxic which is important as children can have a tendency to lick or put toys in their mouth their when playing so it is reassuring that this is safe. The rocker itself is very gentle so all ages will be comfortable and it encourages children to learn about balance. It is built so that it will not topple over but it's always a good idea to have adult supervision when children are using it.Le Toy Van have created another wonderful experience for children, this is a wonderful contemporary twist on a classic toy. They are a company I am very happy to recommend.

First of all WOW! What an amazing rocking horse/unicorn! I made this is in around 15 minutes which is surprising for so many pieces. The rubberwood is sourced from trees that have already served a purpose for whatever reason meaning tress aren’t just ripped down to make this but as they use tress they usually plant more trees on a use one plant one process I believe but with higher numbers. That should explain a little about the material used. So, is the price of £79.99 worth spending on this item? Yes is the answer. Reason being is the wood is responsibly sourced, treated to protect itself from fungi and/or woodworm etc plus its built by a very high end brand. The photos I have included show the finished product with the black thing i.The middle being an iPad Pro 11” to give you a rough idea of the size of the toy. The base including stamp markings. The product in the open box before building it and finally a photo of the actual wood for reference. The print is very well marked and it seems as though it should stay put for a long while even with a little bit of rough play on it.Overall - You will get a very high end product for your money as well as many years and generations creating memories on this little beauty.

This toy arrives flat packed. It needs to be screwed together using the screws provided. Made in Indonesia from rubberwood. This is my first experience of rubberwood and I glad to see it being used. Not only is this wood sustainable, but it makes use of wood from older rubber plantation trees which would previously have been burned. A big plus environmentally. The wood is dense and strong, but not of the highest grade. There is significant colour variation in the wood of the unpainted base. There are also some signs of cracking and some rough spots. In spite of this I would expect the toy to last for a generation. The toy is well finished. Smooth all round, with no splinters or sharp edges.Well painted and the glitter stays in place. It is a pleasant object to look at.The unicorn does not give a child the smoothest of rides, but it will help with balance and motor skills. We also like it it because it fits in nicely with the collection of other unicorn toys and books which we have.Overall, an attractive, fun toy that will help with a child's development. More ethical than most, although I would like to see some tangible evidence that the factory is as ethical as Le Toy Van claims.

This is a well made, solidly built rocking horse that sits firmly, and securely on a flat surface. It comes as a flat pack, and is easy to assemble using a crosshead screwdriver and the supplied hex key. Instructions were clearly illustrated, and everything fitted together neatly. It has a gentle rocking action, which is ideal for little toddlers, and all sections have safely rounded edges to prevent injury. The handles and foot supports are well positioned, with a central pole for extra stability. All screws and bolts are recessed, which is another safety feature that we really like about this toy. The pastel colours are lovely, making a nice change from the usual garish shades. The company’s green credentials impressed us; the only plastic in the packaging was a tiny bag containing screws and hex key, the rest was tissue paper and cardboard. We had never heard of rubberwood, but apparently, it comes from older trees that no longer produce sufficient amounts of rubber on plantations. After felling, new trees are usually planted, so rubberwood seems more eco-friendly than many other materials. All in all, this is a very good quality rocking horse and well worth the price.

This is a beautiful wooden rocking unicorn, which has been painted to look like a carousel horse. It arrives flat packed in a very heavy package, but is very easy to assemble, with the only requirements for building being a screwdriver. The instructions included are simple to follow and you can build it in less than 20 minutes.Once built, it is incredibly sturdy and strong. It is most suitable for babies and toddlers, who are confident on there own feet and can support themselves when rocking back and forth. It is recommended from 12 months to 10 years... however, it is far too small for a 10 year old!! It has wooden handles and foot rests, which have been smoothed, to avoid splinters, but there are no cushioned areas to protect from bumps, hence the reason your child needs to be able to balance themselves, to avoid hitting their face whilst rocking. It is a quality item, which would make a beautiful gift.

I hope you consider my review helpful:Quality: Made from smooth yet strong rubber wood. Seems like it’s built to last, unlike MDF ones I’ve seen. Quality of fit and finish, including artwork is top notch. It’s finished off with gold and glitter paint for a touch of sparkle!Suitability: Perfect size for my 3 year old niece, but suitable for up to 5 years of age, especially if they love unicorns!Ethically made: Made from sustainable wood using safe paints and hand finished. They also claim to replant trees (but yet to see evidence of this).Assembly: Clearly laid out instructions and easy to follow. The whole assembly procedure took barely 20 minutes.Feels sturdy and solid once built.Use: Well-balanced but need a good rock to get it going. Often requiring adult help to rock back and forth, although this could be due to my niece being quite young.

My first thought when the smallish, neat parcel was delivered, was how heavy it was! the wood is certainly solid. I didn't try and assemble it myself, but my partner followed the instructions, which he said were very clear and easy to follow, and had it together in no time.It looks absolutely lovely in the pastel colours. It certainly rocks, but will not tip over because there is not a huge curve underneath, which I am sure is a safety feature.Any small child would love this, I think the optimum age would probably be 2 to 4.It's going to be the favourite of a certain unicorn-loving little girl that I know.To make it even more adorable a mane and tail would be ideal, but I expect that would add greatly to the cost.Currently I think the price is about right for such an attractive, durable item.

Flat pack rocking horse which will require assembly. Pictures do not do this item justice the detail is amazing. I loved taking each piece out and admiring the craftsmanship that went into it. It is a lovely pastel coloured with areas of gold glitter wooden unicorn. It is designed to improve balance and can be used from 12+ months, it claims can be used up to 10 years. The item has been designed for small hands, smooth edges and paint that is non-toxic. It was reasonable easy to assemble and each item was bag and numbered individually to help with identification. Instructions were clear and easy to read and understand. The item appears solid and sturdy once assembled, which should be built to last a long time.A unique and pleasing item which would be received as a beautiful gift.

A really lovely toy, that's perfectly designed for toddlers. The wood is safe, coated and rounded edges, and while it's heavy wooden toy, it's very safe and secure. As the seat part of the unicorn is completely flat it can make it look a little odd compared to others, but I think having a wooden one - at such a reasonable price too - really does make a difference. It's so much nicer, and all also go as a set if you have other wooden toys, or are prepping a nursery. It's robust enough to work for lots of play from multiple kids, i've had plastic one previous that snapped after a few months.I love the most that this company are consciously thinking about being eco and sustainable - the mass ofplastic and waste that amounts from kids toys in particular is unbelievable.

A really attractive looking gift for any young child with its good quality wood and beautiful pastel colours- does indeed look like a traditional carousel horse. Very easy to assemble, just requires a screwdriver (we used a cordless drill to speed things up a bit and that worked fine too). Very impressed with how it was packaged in order to avoid any scraps or scratches; each piece was individually wrapped for that extra layer of protection. Came with instructions which were easily understood and straight forward to follow. Overall this rocking horse is of great quality and looks beautiful, would highly recommend for any young child. My 4 year old nephew decided to try it out for me and it moved perfectly.

This is easy to assemble and it’s rubber-wood which makes it sturdy, I’ve had a rubber-wood tabletop last 20 years without a mark despite the best efforts of 3 children/teenagers. Those same children have now presented me with grandchildren and gran’s house needs toys and games. It’s easy for the older ones but the toddlers end up trying to do floor puzzles with the help of two mad spaniels! So, I saw this and thought it would be ideal, it really is quite charming so it’s not out of place being kept out all the time. I will encourage my little visitors to take good care of this and hopefully it can stay in the family for the next generation. I see no reason to think it won’t last.

Was very impressed when this arrived because it was flat-packed, unlike other rocking horses I have received in the past that come in a massive unnecessary box. That aside, the unicorn is very easy to assemble and requires around 5 minutes for you to put it together. Once made, the unicorn is relatively compact so definitely suited for younger toddlers. The unicorn is also painted well and the detailing is rather impressive for the price. They have also rounded the edges very well so definitely child friendly,Overall very happy 5/5

Very, very nice. This rocking unicorn looks nice just stood in the corner of the room unused. As an interactive toy it has proven very popular. It has a nice rocking motion, is straightforward to assemble and sturdy once put together. It is decorated nicely and has nice detail on it. Rocking horse type toys have an old fashioned feel about them but once you experience them again it becomes surprising that they aren't more popular. This has provided hours and hours of entertainment and only growth rate is likely to make this redundant.

This is so beautiful and would last a child several years. It is made out of lovely quality wood, there are no scuffs or dints on mine, and the paint work is lovely. There is even a glittery paint effect. It was easy to put together, my heart always sinks a bit when I see something is self assembly (only because I am useless at building!) but it only took me a few minutes.Something like this would last long enough to go down generations, I fully welcome these lovely wooden toys over the plastic ones we see loads of nowadays.
