I bought this brand and model 15 years ago and it's still going strong. It is much more expensive than your average pressure cooker, but it is 100% safe, I've never had an incident with it, it's impossible to open whilst under pressure, and it's got two emergency pressure relief mechanisms in case the main valve gets blocked. In fact if their's a problem with the main valve (dirty, blocked or loose, very easy to fix at home) pressure will not build up in the first place. Whilst under operating pressure it's totally silent, and the cooking results are excellent. From my experience with this (and other, brands), Kuhn Rikon make the best pressure cookers. We had a similar one for several years, so we decided to get a new one and we chose the same brand because they are the best on the market due to the quality, durability and efficiency
