Ooh how I love this pressure cooker. Yes its a premium product and carries a pretty hefty price tag - similar sized cheaper brands are easily available for a quarter of the price. However, they will not perform like this one!I have used a pressure cooker for a number of years, and hated the sound of the steam escaping. It was a cheap and cheerful affair bought from a leading catalogue store just as I was grasping cooking for a family. I bought a 7 litre pressure cooker at the time and it had plenty of space but was also heavy to lift and took up a lot of space due to the long handle. It was retired after the lid slipped off my dish rack and the handle broke - no longer holding pressure.I looked long and hard before buying this cooker,unsure of which brand or size I should go for. The only thing I was sure of was that I wanted a stainless steel one - have read many articles on the concerns of using other materials for cooking, I had concluded that stainless steel was the direction to go in.In the end after looking at many reviews and prices I concluded that Kuhn Rikon was the way to go for the make. The fact that purchases have a lengthy warranty from a reputable brand was reassuring. Having watched numerous videos I was impressed with how quite it was and that the pressure could be adjusted. The fact that such little water was needed and the speed at which things could be cooked were all factors in my decision (although I did think that the times had been exaggerated somewhat - how wrong I was!)So all I was left with deciding was the size… Not such an easy decision, I had a 7 litre previously and had found it was too big for everyday use but perfect when we had guests. I wanted the shorter handles which Kuhn Rikon have for my new pressure cooker and so it was between the 6 and 8 litre. Should I go even bigger - or lose a litre? Well I clearly went for the 6… why? I concluded that as the Kuhn Rikon required less water I should be able to cook enough for my family of 5 and a few extra guests comfortably.Overall, am I happy with my purchase? YES! It performs better than expected - it cooks REALLY quickly, lentils were cooked in 5 minutes flat, the liquid needed is much less and this takes some getting used. It clean up easily and the shorter handles are perfect to lift with and definitely easier to store.

I love this pressure cooker. I've had it for a few months now and although it was frighteningly expensive I now consider it totally essential and it is in almost daily use. Its much much quicker and easier to cook almost anything in this pressure cooker. Its totally easy to use and very good looking. I was a bit concerned I'd only be using it now and then for cooking chickpeas etc. but actually its good for anything you might ordinarily cook in a saucepan - but super speedy. I especially like the fact that it is very quiet and that it doesn't have a long handle so I can store it on a pan rack easily. I cook daily for a family of 6 and a 6 litre model is good for us - however if I wanted to cook larger quantities to freeze I could really do with an 8 litre pan.At first you have to look up timings for everything but you soon get a feel for how long things will take and I am no longer needing to check the booklet. Its so easy to reduce the pressure by pushing down the vent that you can easily check your cooking and then add a few more minutes if needed. Very happy customer.

Perfect pot for Christmas pudding.I bought this 6ltr 24cm pressure cooker specifically for steaming Christmas pudding which i did the day after taking delivery. it's brilliant and sat quietly on the hop clinking away with the metal pud vessel inside sitting on top of the stainless steel trivet which comes with it and is essential for keeping it of the pot bottom. minimum heat required but i think i will buy a defuser only to spread the heat even more and to protect the pot. It lost about half a litre of water over the 2.5 hours it was steaming away as i couldn't reduce the heat any more on the smallest gas ring. so not only do you not get a greasy steamed kitchen but it takes a 1/3 of the time and minimal gas.What more could you want.

I am very pleased with this product. It is simple and stylish . Having in my kitchen (and used it) for months,it helped me a lot to reduce my cooking time. The first two times ,I invited my friends (to practice on them ) and they all were very happy with the taste of the food cooked in it.I have no longer the fear of spending long hours to prepare/make a delicious food. I made lamb shank gourmet and it was so delicious that I was surprised by my own hidden talent! I only regret that I did not buy the bigger one as you can only use maximum of 2/3 of total capacity,in case if you have more than 5-6 guests you need to cook the food twice which is still saving time and energy ...

Fantastic product and fantastic customer service. Almost 3 years after purchasing the cooker the top cap broke. I contacted customer service referencing the 10yrs guarantee and received a replacement within 2 days. The cooker, by the way, is top quality built and with the exception of the part I got replaced, the rest looks exactly the same as the first day. We use it on average 4 to 5 times per week.

I start work early and don't get home until around 6-7pm, using a pressure cooker opens up a whole new world of being able to cook a meal quickly when I get home.This cooker is really simple to use, no buttons, settings, locks etc to worry about....a real classic that cooks beautifully.

Excellent product and sooo quiet! Wonderful meals in quick time. Many years ago I had a pressure cooker but I always found it very noisy - this cooker is excellent and makes no noise or steam at all. Would highly recommend.

Excellent pressure cooker but fitting the lid a bit awkward as handles are not easy to grip when fitting plus no starter recipe book or instructions.

I have been using this type of pots for 20 years..of course from time to time replacing them. But a pot lasts really long without any damage

Valve seems to vent sometimes even if it's not showing 2 red bars. Otherwise it's good if not quite perfect.
