I'm overclocking at 4.8ghz (hitting 72c max temp under artificial load for an hour with a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo) and I couldn't be happier with this processor for an upgrade over my Pentium G3258. It of course came along with the upgrade to an LGA 1151 motherboard and DDR4 RAM, but it was definitely worth the cost. I'm using a GTX 970 with this processor until I can save enough up for an upgrade, and I'm getting very respectable framerates (I shoot for at least 60 and can get this on all of my games). This isn't massively relevant to the processor though since it's mostly tied to the performance of my GPU,but the point is you shouldn't be experiencing a bottleneck if you're using a single GPU with this processor. It's probably not worth getting this chip as an upgrade to Skylake, and you can save yourself a further twenty quid if you aren't overclocking. However if you do decide to go with an unlocked chip you can't do much better than this at the moment if you're building a PC with gaming in mind (especially in terms of cost to performance with i7s coming in at quite a bit more expensive for what really are diminishing returns in regard to frames per second). The chip didn't come with a stock cooler, which I didn't miss and doesn't necessarily make the most sense since it's unlocked and you should really be using an after-market cooler to take advantage of that anyway, but if you wanted another stock cooler to add to your collection you will be missing out.Don't forget to be careful with your mobo since Kaby Lakes might not work out of the box on certain motherboards, and to overclock you'll really need a Z270 or Z170 (if you can get a BIOS update, which you do need a working processor for first or to have faith that the manufacturer/seller has done that for you already).I'd say you're getting pretty good value with this processor, and it's pretty ideal for a gaming PC!

I upgraded from an i3-6100, running on a Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 3 Rev 1.0 board and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000mhz (2x8GB). The i5-7600K helped resolve what I believed was an IMC limitation on my i3-6100. I could only get the Corsair to run stable at 2666, trying both XMP enabled and manual settings. After replacing the CPU (with this), I've had zero issues and I am running stable at full 3000mhz using XMP. I am overclocking the i5-7600K to 4.6ghz (100x46) using the quick settings in the BIOS (beta F21a). There are no hiccups, and I'm sure it can be pushed a little further. Overall computer response is certainly noticeable compared to the i3 Skylake. For cooling,I'm using a Hyper 212 EVO with AS5 applied in an older Antec 900 case with 2 stock 120mm intake fans, 1 stock 120mm exhaust fan and the top 200mm stock Antec Bigboy. With an ambient room temp of around 71f/21c, idle temps are 26c-27-26-30. Running 10 minutes of blended tests using Prime95 v26.6 (do not use versions highers, Google it), the temps peaked to 69-71c for Cores 0-2, with Core3 being a couple degrees higher. See attached picture of Prime95, CoreTemp and CPU-Z screen shot.Since this purchase, I added a Samsung 960 EVO 250GB NVMe as my boot drive. This drive coupled with the i5-7600k, yielded an 8 second Windows boot, from the time my monitor receives the video signal (prior to the Gigabyte logo on POST) displays, to the Windows login screen.CPU-Z v1.78.1.x64 using its own benchmark v15.01.64:- CPU Single Thread, 2339- CPU Multi Thread, 9120Did I need this CPU? No. Was I able to resell my i3-6100 to breakeven and use gift cards for the difference, yes. Would I buy this CPU if I was building a new system or massively upgrade? Absolutely.

love this cpu! never going back to i5 after buying this beast!- very high performance and superior multitasking-can handle pretty much anything i throw at it and doesnt break a sweat-also tried the igpu for light gaming and it works well, was very surprised-used the Arctic MX-2 Thermal compound-temps in idle: 20-30 degrees (on desktop, browsing listening to music or watching movies/tv shows)-temps in load: cant really say because i dont have a dedicated gpu yet, will have it on 26th January! very excited for it-using it with NOCTUA NHU9B SE2 Air Cooler> done a few stress and burn tests. On 4.2ghz with higher rpm cables in full load 60-70 degrees max.-With Turbo-boost 4.5ghz it was a little higher in burn test: 65-75 degrees.( for better temps try delidding ur cpu or going liquid or try the premium noctua NHUD15But you wont get 100% cpu load in any game, maybe some exceptions but i highly doubt it, even in most demanding games as Ac Origins or Evil Within 2 etc. Each game has an individual cpu use, some use less some more and if the game is badly optimized then the fault isnt in the cpu but in the game itself. So dont be alarmed by it.-Update paired up this cpu with GTX 1080 and works awesome! In Ac Origins which uses the most of the cpu in the modern games the temps are 55-65 depending on the location i am at. As for the other games it stays pretty cool at 50-60 degrees. No sweat!

... has Intel lost their beautiful minds? I'm sick of this - get this over with! (22, 16, 14nm without ice or a straw)I'm always baffled by the low ratings giving to premium Intel's processors. It's a brand new (still in diapers) processor - which, was released before motherboard company's could effectively provide a BIOS configuration to satisfy compatibility issues. (Crazy Marketing Strategies)Now, I'm sure once you load this magnificent Nano-beast to the correct configuration - you'll enjoy these ridiculous clock speeds that I have been exploiting for two weeks. This thing reaches 5GHz - 'laughing-all-the-way' - like a geekd'-out,gun-slinging Santa.Whatever your intentions might be - don't trigger auto-optimization to this processor - unless your are ready on a premium cooling solution (I recommend water-cooling due to the many power phases, which cause the fans to howl all day).I'm running on the new ASUS Z270G with CORSAIR V ddr4 3000 in tow, saddled to a GTX 1070 (ready for the war). I also went with a EVGA modular 750w to handle the rest of the Nano-demons and moving parts in the case. Under no circumstances - will I serve or be served crumbs with geek-dip-delicious like this out there.

I bought this processor elsewhere but wanted to get the word out onto Amazon about the performance versus my AMD FX 8350.Going from an FX 8350 was not a difficult choice as the processor exploded very recently so I'd basically had it with AMD as this wastwo which had broken so I decided to move to the blue team. This feels like something I wish I'd have done all along. The Intel Core 15 7600k is better in almost every way if you are a gamer. Every game runs ridiculously better, I used to see frame drops in 90% of the games I play but now I have such a silky smooth experience.I'm running a 1060 6gb with this card so I'm not getting that bottleneck any longer. On Forza Horizon I was getting 42fps give or take on Medium settings and with this I'm getting a solid 60 with no dips on high settings (it would be ultra high if I didn't have to downgrade the RAM.)Now, about that... I couldn't find a motherboard which supported this chip and DDR3 RAM so I had to (in a panic) buy 8GB of DDR4 which I haven't really seen a difference with as I've downgraded from 16GB which is a shame. Nonetheless, amazing processor.

Exactly what I expected, arrived on time, got free Halo Wars 2 download for purchasing this (which I didn't even know about until after I ordered it) I have achieved incredibly successful overclocks and low temps with 120 MM Radiator Water Cooling system & 3 fans in the case (all running directly from the PSU). Currently running highly stable performance at 4.40 ghz / 3000 mhz RAM haven't seen a temp over 64c yet. Although it did run for a little bit before crashing when I tried to put some weight on it, 4.60 ghz and 3200 mhz RAM was too much. I read some reviews saying some crazy things about pushing it higher than that (4.60 / 3200), I don't believe them.It wasn't a matter of enough of a cooling system for the CPU because the cooling system wouldn't have a chance to cool down the cores it was an instant spike and from what I saw on CPUID the voltage was the culprit. This thing overclocked will perform at level the same or above other i7 processors, but it will use more electricity. I'm not sure which one will cost more in the long run.

It's an i5-6600k, but better in both temps and clock speeds, at the same price (at the time of my purchase). It's a no-brainer.Though do take note that to make the most of Kaby Lake's new features and the unlocked processor, you'll need a Z270 motherboard. It's backwards compatible with Z170 and other Sky Lake motherboards but the motherboard BIOS will need to have the latest update with Kaby Lake support. I also don't recommend anyone to upgrade to this from a Sky Lake or Haswell/Broadwell i5/i7 unless you're experiencing bottlenecking as the improvement may not be worth it. Also, if possible, I'd recommend waiting for AMD Ryzen CPUs to come out so you can compare fairly and not regret gettingKaby Lake too early (I had to get it early because birthdays exist).TL;DR wait for Ryzen if you can and do your research, if you're going for a new build and can't wait for AMD Ryzen or dislike AMD or are upgrading from an old system, then I couldn't recommend this CPU more.

After years of using AMD I fancied a change. I had noticed that the price of this chip was reasonable and after scouring the net to see what advantages I would have over my FX-8370 I went ahead and bought this used off ebay for £170 with a new motherboard and 16gb of DDR4 Ram.The processor came with a really small cooler so I invested in the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and I'm glad I did. Anyway I assembled everything, pushed the magic button and she sprung to life. Now I play a lot of Xplane-11 still got my GTX-970 4gb card so only mobo, ram and CPU change and bloodyhell!!.. I noticed straight away, the difference is clear as night and day... I'm doing a flight now whilst streaming even upped the graphic settings, firefox open and its smooth as butter.Kicking my self as to why I hadn't gone with INtel earlier.. Trust me if you are on a budget this processor is the bees knees, AMD is dead in my eyes now.

If anyone is having trouble with ''no post'' with this motherboard + intel 7th gen kaby lake processors, then make sure you have firstly diagnosed all parts in your build are working e.g. ram, mobo, psu, cpu. If all parts are working i.e. by using your new parts in another compatible system. If you still get ''no post'' then it means your mobo has an older version of BIOS installed in which case you have to update it by downloading latest version on the asus website on a usb drive. (please note to get pc to post, you will need a compatible 6th gen processor). This will allow you to update your bios and then you can put back your 7th gen cpu back in the pc and it should now POST!Good luck!I wasted 3 weeks on trying to get system to post/ replacing parts or buying new ones. Only to find out my pc won't post because my 7th gen cpu is too brand new to be compatible with mobos BIOS.

So I upgraded from an i5 6600k and the main reason was some games were bottlenecking on CPU and rendering them unplayable. (Games like the Call of Duty Blackout mode). I also stream in which my CPU heavily bottlenecks at 100% and games are not even worth playing. The i7 7700k has 4 more threads on them so I was advised this would be ideal. Since installing it, wow... My GPU is performing better than it was, as I read online it was potentially bottling my GPU too by around 20%. I have no audio stuttering from lack of CPU and overall is a brilliant processor.Runs slightly hotter than my last but only by around 6 degrees and sits around 38 - 43 Celsius.Worthwhile purchase and my stream viewers (all 20 of them,I'm not a big streamer) have said over the last few days they find a much clearer stream but most of all audio is brilliant for them now.

Overall, this is an amazing price for performance chip. Amazon states that it is a 4.2 ghz, but it is. 3.8 ghz out of the box. That slightly annoyed me, but since I was planning on overclocking the chip to about 4.6 ghz I didn't mind to much. If you are planning on overclocking, this chip will get you great performance for the price, just make sure your mother board supports overclocking and is trusted, and that you have a good cooler to keep it from thermal throttling. I got the chip in 3 days, and had no damage. Overall I highly recommend this chip to anyone who is building a high performance pc, but want to cut the budget slightly instead of getting an i7.Although if you plan of doing video editing and live streaming then I would recommend the i7 7700K

I originally purchased the i5-7500 but ending up having buyers remorse due to this i5-7600k only being $20 or so more expensive. So I returned the i5-7500 and purchased the i5-7600k instead and I have no regrets. I'm impressed with the high clock speeds you can reach with this thing. I have a Cryorig H7 keeping this thing cool and my temps reach 60 degrees during stress testing (with XMP enabled all cores reach 4.2ghz simultaneously). A little pricey but I can see me using this processor for several years before my computer is considered "slow". Paired with a GTX 1070 this CPU doesn't skip a beat when it comes to gaming. The i5-7600k keeps up with or even beats the more expensive Ryzen R7 CPU's when it comes to gaming.

The reality is, there are very few reasons to buy this CPU at this point in its lifecycle. For 20$ more you can get yourself a new i5-9600k which is 2 generations newer, offers 2 extra physical cores and overclocks a bit better than this guy. Of course, you'll need to spring for a new motherboard, but ram/gpu/sdd/hdd/psu etc can all be moved at no extra cost. That being said, if you refuse to upgrade your 270 chipset motherboard and you need a new CPU to upgrade from either a Celeron or Pentium or, you somehow managed to destroy your existing CPU, this i5-7600k is more than sufficent to handle any task you throw at it. I wouldn't recommend it as an upgrade from a 6th gen CPU though.

My old AMD rig (Phenom II x6) was flaky and decided to rebuild. I do a lot of embedded firmware development and PCB layout with Altium Designer. This processor is crunching through it all nicely. I thought about the i7 but after some research it appears that your are paying an extra $100 for hyper threading that does little for CAD applications. I do not overclock. So far everything seems very stable. I have this CPU mounted in a Gigabyte-Z720X-GAMING R7. Video Card is an EVGA GTX1050. 16GB of DDR RAM.I was going to wait for Ryzen but I really need a stable platform for my work. Saving a $100 bucks didn't seem worth it for an untested architecture.
