Intel New Coffee Lake i5 8600k 6 core unlocked CPU requires a z370 motherboard and 6+power phase Board if you want good overclock. With CPUs coming out every year you might see a better and cheaper CPU before next year so you might need to buy a new CPU & motherboard when you upgrade. Hence I dont recommend spending a lot on motherboard unless you upgrade after 3 years or more.Overclocking: Greatly depends on your sample. My previous 8600k did 4.7GHz @ 1.31v 90c where as this one does 5GHz @ 1.31v 85cGaming Performance: From stock to overclock speed the performance gain isnt that noticeable unless you got 3000MHz or higher speed ram and also GTX 1080 or above for 100FPS plus on 1080p.If you got a lesser GPU or slower ram you can save money by opting for i3 8350k or i5 8400.Productivity: Acceptable performance when overclocked however a 8700k might be better choice as more core/threads helps.Power consumption: My i5 8600k CPU stock total system pull 110 Watts cine bench load 40 watts only idle. When overclocked 5 GHz at 1.31v 85c the cine-bench load went upto 200 Watts from wall ! I found my 24/7 sweet spot power/performance 4.6GHz @ 1.17v 65c & 45 watts idle 140 watts cine-bench load.Summery: 8600k and 8700k both priced high for the performance you get. I paid £230 for oem sample. These are the fastest unlocked intel CPUs now however the performance gain from a sky lake isnt that noticeable. However upgrade from sandy or ivy or even older generation definitely worth it. Overall I am happy with my processor. I hope my short review will help you to decide your purchase. Thank you.

Built new system and cpu was part of the upgrade. Replaced a I7 3770k with this I5 8600k. A couple of generations newer with newer tech. Could have got an I7 for almost a hundred bucks more but decided this time an I5 should be fine for me. Turns out it was. For me and what I do, an I7 is kind of overkill. Nice to have the top dog but not really practical if you actually don't need it, and this dog still hunts plenty good. Paired this with a GTX 1070 my gaming experience puts a smile on my face. I am not overclocking anything as I've not had a need to do so. The performance is so good I doubt if I'm going to be noticing any difference overclocking other than getting higher numbers running benchmarks but that's not my thing.Overclocking is going to get me more heat and more power consumption but probably nothing I can 'feel' so I'm going to leave it as it is unless later I have a need to do so.

This is an amazing CPU,Upgraded from an i7 2600k @4.2ghzEverything I couldn't run smoothly before ran perfectly now, those being:Star Citizen, the unoptimized mess, from 20-30fps to 40-60fps.FFXV, from high settings 40-50fps to max 50-60fps.Everything else either had a small bump in performance or an unnoticeable one (such as League of Legends going from 200-250 to 300-350 fps or CS-GO)Using a 212 evo with Coolermaster thermal paste:Playing FFXV, the utilization was on 100%, after a 2 hour game session, my temps were averaging 58, maxing on 63. This is impressive. It idled on 30-35c. (As reported by HWMonitor)The accompanied ram ran at its advertised speed of 3600mhz,the i5 supported it perfectly.I didn't try to overclock it yet, but the turbo was just fine, every time it was under load it ran at 4.2GHz, vcore @ 1.2v.

The i5-8600K is a great choice for a high-end processor that won't burn too big of a hole in your wallet. Although I haven't benchmarked it, loading times and physics simulation for demanding games I've played (Tomb Raider, Witcher 3, Everspace, X-Com 2) are fast/reasonable. Installation was straight-forward for someone who has assembled only one PC prior. (**Just make sure your motherboard is compatible with your processor before buying it!**)Coupled with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, I've been running all my games on their highest graphics settings with no noticeable choppy FPS. Once in a while, a game-related or optimization-based stutter might occur, but these are negligible to my personal gaming experience.Overall, the processor has been a reliable component to the gaming PC I recently built (Jan 2019).

The age of the budget mid-range PCs is here!We now have sub £100 Intel quad cores, capable of running high setting 1080p gaming without any issues. It's a shame that the H300 series motherboards took so long to release but once they become readily available you could have a nice cpu/mobo combo for about £160-180. Fantastic!Don't hesitate to grab one of these for any build looking to game at 1080p.The i3-8100 will drive most single graphics card.Price-wise, you'd want to pair this with anything up to and including the RX580/GTX1060 but make sure to grab at least a i5 8400 if you want to push for a GTX1070 graphics card combo. You could argue that the Ryzen 3 counterpart is also a good deal but when it comes to gaming, intel has always been a winner for me.Big thumbs up for me.

There is almost nothing between 9600k and this.Get better cooling solution or graphics card, instead of buying z390 and 9600kI'm getting some HW failure due to heat. (5 Ghz, 1.33 Vcore)It's perfect stable but a little bit heat issues. (80-85 degrees, 5Ghz, 1.36-1.372 Vcore)If you want to keep up with stability: 4.8 Ghz, 1.296 Vcore. 58-63 Degrees. Or 4.9 Ghz, 1.326 Vcore. 65-70 degrees. No need for that, i want 9600k performance: 4.6 Ghz 1.26-1.27 Vcore is good. 55-60 degrees. With GTX 1080, I'm getting 170-180 fps ingame. (1080p PUBG, Competitive settings) You can get anything about Bottleneck, super smooth. Before wasting your money to unnecessary equipments,i hope that you will read that.Cooler: Evga CLC 120.

Bought this to go with a new gaming build- I installed it into an Z370 ASUS MAXIMUM HERO X motherboard along with 16gb of corsair 3200hz RAM and a GammaX400 cpu cooler. The new 8th generation intel cpus are beasts to say the least, you can see a real different from 6th and 7th gen with the extra 2 cores and coffee lake architecture.Good overclocking potential too: using ASUS's own OC software I easily overclocked my i5 from 3.6Ghz to 4.75Ghz with no problems whatsoever, thought if you want to really push it I can see overclocks of 5Ghz+ being possible (if a bit potentially unstable.)In conclusion this CPU is perfect for a gaming PC or a high power workstation- it was definitely worth the £200odd I paid for it.

I have only ever built my computers, however, the last computer I built was in 2008 and it died like in 2015. It was already to old and I couldn't upgrade it anymore. I finally decided to get a new computer. I was going to get an i7 but right now the price is to high to afford it. This i5 processor is great though along with my MSI motherboard, I am able to put on "Gaming Mode" and bump up the multiplier to 102 which gives me 4.6ghz. My cooler master CPU fan keeps the temp around 42c while in OC mode and idle. I haven't finished testing OC settings but the processor is great. I love it. I just bought a bunch of games on Steam for sale that I missed and I can play them all on ultra highsettings.

Perfect purchase, finally decided to upgrade from my awful a8-6600K system and couldn't be happier.I am able to Stream and play games at the same time, edit video footage and run Photoshop and illustrator with ease. I also use my PC for development work and even with chrome tabs open in abundance even whilst trying to game and stream I'm yet to see this go over ~75% usage apart from the full load stress test i put it under when testing it upon initial purchase. I have mine over clocked to 4.2 standard, but i have had it at 4.8 before it got a little scetchy. but power for value this is your best option as an all round chip in my opinion. there's not a lot it can't cope with.

I bought mine last year upgrading from Ivybridge I5 3570kSo this was a big jump in performanceEven though I had my I5 3570k overclocked to 4.7ghzI found it lacked the performance for the newer games yes it's still a capable processor but the I5 8600kWas the choice I made because of the 6 cores 6 threads and I've had this overclocked stable at 4.8ghz some have had it higher but without doing extreme watercooling that's the max I got out of mine butFor the price and performance for gaming it was a must for meI'm no fan boy but I've always had intel so because I was spending alot of money I didn't want to regret my decisionsSo intel it was and never looked back

Bought this as part of our new PC build, considering it benched well against the i7-7700k and R7 1700. It's nice to see a CPU that can shrug off the worst of what Windows 10 can throw at it and remain hardly utilized. Pretty easy to install the chip itself, but it doesn't come with a stock cooler, so you'll need to buy one of your own. With the Cyrorig H7 it runs at around 32° idle, and when playing The Witcher 3 it got up to 57°. If you want a good gaming CPU and don't care about either peak single core speeds or ultimate multi-core performance, but want a blend of both, it's hard to go wrong with this.

I purchased the i5 - 8600K a few months back and wanted to give it a little while before leaving a review. So far (7 Months) it's a fantastic CPU with NO problems. I have it overclocked to 5.00 GHz and runs very smoothly. Keeps up with all of the latest games, even ones that say they require a "better" CPU. It has no problems with all of the Adobe Suite programs either. I also stream games which requires me to not only play a game, but record and use streaming software at the same time. I've pushed this card fairly hard for the past few months and it's been working like a champ (knock on wood).

Being the cheaper of the high-end Intel 8th Gen processors, I have no complaints. This unit doesn't come with a stock cooler however so expect to pick one up along with this purchase. It's pretty quick and offers pretty decent thermals. Along with it's 4.2 GHz turbo clock, this chip has been recorded at a astounding 4.9 GHz while being overclocked. However if you expect to hit this number you should take your cooling situation into mind and be careful. All in all I am completely satisfied with my purchase and recommend anyone reading this review to go ahead and click the add to cart button.

Intel BX80684I78700K 8th Gen Core i7-8700K Processor Excellent processor, great for gaming, it does not run as warm as my other processors (FX-8350) that ran at 72-75 degrees while gaming on CSGO/PUBG, when running these games on the 8700k paired with a 1080ti @ 2Ghz i can run CSGO at 400+ FPS and PUBG at a constant 144 FPS, it seems to be V SYNC locked so i cant confirm any higher, this is on ULTRA Settings, i have it paired with an Asetek 570LX Extreme Liquid cooler and i don't go above 50 Degrees while its under load.Feel free to ask questions and i'll do my best to answer

I got this one for doing some overclocking on. is it the best chip in 2019? nah. is it the fastest? not necessarily. can it overclock? heck yes! I may have gotten a golden chip, as i was able to push it to 5.55ghz on chilled water cooling. max temps were 10 C under load. i used it in conjunction with a 2080 Ti to get near the top of the unigine superposition leaderboard. very happy with how it worked out. I did end up shoving 1.52v through it just to keep it stable at those speeds, but it was worth it. great chip to play with for enthusiast overclockers on a budget.
