So far, it has been snappy and responsive. It is not the unlocked one, but if you don't care about overclocking and getting every last cycle, then save a few pounds and get this one. I paired it with an Asus Prime B250-PRO, but see what I wrote on that one about updating the BIOS, and other bits. If you are doing heavy duty work, 3D design, video, Unreal Engine 4 (Games design) then this is what you should be looking at, if just casual gaming and you don't care about top frame rates, look at a 7'th generation Core i5 (doesn't have hyperthreading) and spend the difference on a better graphics card.*Be aware*, however, if you pair a 7'th gen CPU with an older chipset (110, 150, 170)then the chances are that unless the boards come with an updated BIOS, you might find you need a 6'th gen chip to boot it...! Be sure to get a 200 series chipset.Oh, and I'm sure you'll all be pleased to know that it comes with an 'Intel Inside' sticker, complete with a long paragraph of legal text granting you a non-exclusive right to display the logo :) Thanks Intel -- Licensing rights of your logo was my main concern. Most companies just include a sticker. It comes with a fan included, however... you might want to get an aftermarket cooler. While it is not loud, under load, it does sound like a distant high-frequency cow -- really, imagine revving-up a motorised cow. If you are sound sensitive, or have OCD like me, then it will drive you up the wall, hence a good cooler will be next on my list.Summary - Very good, Not for overclockers, better for heavy workloads, fan goes "Mooo" a lot under load.

Bought this for a gaming rig and home office PC. It performs amazingly well. I really can't be doing with all the hassle with overclocking and all the associated extra cooling required. I just wanted a high-performing processor from the get-go; and this is it.Some motherboards will require a BIOS update to accept Kaby Lake gen CPUs, but that's quite simple to do yourself (using a Skylake CPU) or by asking the motherboard vendor to do it before you take delivery of the board. Some mobos are Kaby Lake ready anyway.Because this CPU is not strictly overclockable, it runs cool, even during gaming sessions or intensive rendering etc. The stock cooler can be set to run on a very low speed (via BIOS config)to make the PC almost silent, especially when using an SSD instead of a traditional mechanical hard drive.Being a high performance CPU it is a fantastic match with mid to high-end GPUs to make a superb gaming rig. I know a lot of gamers would opt for the "K" version of the CPU, but honestly, I run several "AAA" titles, all at maximum settings with stunning performance.Anyway, I highly recommend this chip. Not cheap (when compared to Ryzen, for example) but I think it is still value for money.

Works great. With HT, an i7 is a must for people that are planning to do cpu intensive work (rendering, video editing, streaming, etc.). For gaming, it's slightly overkill currently but some games out right now (and more coming) are getting more and more CPU intensive. Originally ordered a i5 7600K but, after seeing videos on the performance difference in some games, decided to lose the ability to overclock and get an i7.The only con is the price. I ordered from Amazon because I have prime and trust their customer service but other sites -at the time over ordering- had it for +$10-15 less. Some even had the 7700K on sale for $314 (price I paid here). But if anything was wrong,I knew Amazon support would be the best option.SIDENOTE:Had to get a replacement sent. The first one I received was previously opened and had signs that it was previously installed in a computer (seal broken, thermal paste residue on CPU) despite being "new". If you order one, double check the factory seal and the CPU in the plastic window. This is why I mentioned Amazon CS. If I had ordered this elsewhere I would be jumping through hoops for a refund/replacement (looking at you Newegg).

I've been a die-hard AMD supporter for decades and probably built over 100 systems using their chips. For a budget server a client of mine needed, I opted for this and a Gigabyte AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 motherboard to take advantage of NVMe drives for insane speeds. Since we don't need to overclock, this locked processor is fine.We opted for Windows Server 2012 R2 instead of 2016 because of licensing costs. What I didn't realize is that this still-supported Server OS doesn't support this chip fully, and you get a very annoying, large window that pops up *constantly* to remind you that they don't want you running this chip on that OS. Everything runs fine, so the notices are nothing more than a major annoyance.I'm just sick to death of Microsoft trying to force you to their latest OS instead of being consumer-centric and allowing you to choose what YOU want, and Intel plays along because it means more money for them. AMD didn't play these games, so I'm going to give their new Ryzen chips a serious look and may just stick with them going forward if they don't play these OS games like Intel and Microsoft do.

I had a perfectly good running computer that was using an i5-2500K, which was an awesome processor. It never gave me any problems. However, the opportunity presented itself where I could resell that compute at a reasonable price and use that for an upgrade. I sold my computer in August 2017 and knew that Intel was releasing something soon. I was totally prepared to wait for the new processors to come out. I wasn't in the need for a new computer. I had other means of getting on the Internet and getting work done. To get to the point, after seeing the i7-8700K creep up in price day by day, I looked at other processors just for the fun of it. I saw that this 7700 was on sale for $259.Knowing that I would never come close to maxing out the 7700, why spend the extra money on the new 8700K? At the time I bought this processor, the 8700K was going for $419. Also knowing that the 7700 released earlier this year, I didn't see a major drawback to getting this processor. It has run very smoothly. I have not been disappointed going with this processor at all.

Awesome Cpu on my Asus z270f it automatically over-clocks to 4.1ghzt based on the bios software. The thing i dont understand z boards automatically overclock these cpus to 4.1ghzt all cores and 4.2 on a single core as a boost frequency. Now with the decent cooler u should get the K version as you can push the i5 7600k to 4.4ghzt to 4.5ghzt that's a different 200 to 300 mhzt its a increase of a few fps but not enough to warrant to buy the k version and fiddle around with voltage and cpu vcore ect..... which at this exact moment in time is the same price as the 7600 none k. If you have a decent cooler then get the 7600k and OC to 4.4 to 4.5 ghzt which this chip can easily hit.But if you want to just game and get 1080p pair this up with a gtx 1060 and nearly all games will run at 1080p 60fps at ultra/high settings this goes great with a gtx 1060.

These cpus are incredibly nice, Intel's cpus are working better than ever and they are amazing for anything from gaming to casual use, and even things like high end gaming and processing like video editing. All of these cpu's are incredibly easy to install so that shouldn't be a problem for people. It comes with a cpu fan so that's a nice bonus but it is good to know what you are going to use it for, if you are going to be doing a lot of demanding be sure to get a better cpu fan to keep your temperatures low.Over all these CPU's are great for gaming and general use, the power you get the price is definitely worth it if you are looking for high end performance across the board.

Great CPU, massive upgrade for gaming from my Pentium G4560. It's runs a LOT hotter even though it has only an 11 watt difference in TDP (54 watts vs 65 watts) on an aftermarket cooler (Arctic Freezer Pro 7.) Idle they both run about the same which is around 30 degrees but under load it gets above 70 degrees which is a lot compared to the Pentium which topped out around 40-50. It's the only downside really as my PC is now a bit louder but the performance gain is well worth it. I have a feeling the stock cooler would be even louder so the only thing I would say if you're thinking about buying a 7700 is 1) go for it and 2) buy a decent and quiet cooler.

Bought this to build my new FreeBSD box. It runs surprisingly cool, but then again I have a Noctua cooler on it that is the size of a Chevy small block V8. Even when compiling 6 builds at a time, it never gets over 50c. Surprisingly fast for code builds as well. My dual hexacore Xeon machine builds 700+ packages in about 3.5 hours, this machine in about 4.5. Not bad for only 4 cores.I am not a serious gamer so the onboard 630HD plays my 10+ year old games just fine. All in all, this was a good CPU choice, both because it "just works" and because of the low wattage, heat and power consumption.

This is an excellent CPU. I decided to buy this CPU as it uses considerably less power than an i7-7700k and because of its performance, which in all respects matches the capabilities of an un-clocked i7-7700k, and I've got absolutely no interest in tinkering with the settings of a computer. However, the CPU is badly let down by the cooler that Intel provides with this CPU, which is exceptionally noisy. If a better heatsink had been provided I wouldn't have hesitated to say this worthy of '5 stars' but as I had to fork out extra cash to replace this it gets only 4 stars.

I've had several computers over the years with several processors. Mostly AMD so if you've ever used both you can imagine my surprise to find that you truly do get what you pay for! This is the fastest processor I've ever used even with the base of 3.6. I didn't go for the "K" version because I do not intend to do any overclocking. But my computer boots fast, loads apps and programs fast and I haven't had any issues with overheating. However I do want to add that I DO have liquid cooling attached(Cooler Master LITE) and it keeps it more than cool enough.

Purchased for a new machine I built, for no other reason than to have a fast processor that will last me a few years and provide all the CPU I will ever need whether gaming, coding and all the other things I do.This version comes with its own cooler, it does the job, note that only the processors with a K at the end come without a cooler as they can be overclocked. So unless you want to tinker with that kind of thing this is more than adequate for everyone's needs unless you know otherwise.Performance is great, it handles everything I throw at it.

I want to first say that my first CPU I received was broken after 30 minutes of use and I was very disappointed but after speaking to a very helpful amazon support member they replaced it very hastily and this CPU which I am using now is very quick and good for all sorts of games like PUGB, Overwatch and even all my VR games. I was going to rate this lower because of the first mishap but because of the quick support and it running great currently I decided against it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a boost in CPU power.

worked great in every single video game except battle field V so i upgraded to an i7-8700k last week cause im really picky but my 7700 got an 841 in cinebench and never got hotter than 81c with any game for the 7 months i ran i! and thats in a case with only one exhaust fan an a slightly bigger than stock cooler so thats a plus, but just make sure you pick up a cooler cause this cpu doesn't come with anything, just the chip itself which is fine, its getting a little out dated but still not a bad cpu by any means

Excellent processor, not sure about it being worth an upgrade if you already have a K series gen 6 but runs smooth on a gaming ITX sytem. One warning is i keep getting windows 8 warnings that i have incompatible hardware for windows update, so there is obviouy an issue with windows 8 recognising the new skylake 7th gen processor for some of the updates. (will probably be patched)pair this with a new ITX style GTX 1060 and you have a great gaming machine far more powerful than any console.
