I got the Inateck HBU3VL3-4 to add 3 extra USB 3.0 ports to my desktop PC, which currently has 2 x USB 3.0 ports, thanks to Inateck's brilliant PCI-E to USB 3.0 card (see my review here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R1PUL93NHZT6MA/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm).***** In The Box *****Upon opening the box, i found:1 x USB 3.0 Hub with Ethernet port1 x Driver CD1 x User Manual***** Installation *****This product doesn't really need much installing, but connection to my Windows 7 x64 computer was extremely simple - it was just a matter of plugging the hub into a USB 3.0 port on my PC and waiting a few seconds while windows installed the driver for the Ethernet port for me (I didn't even need the supplied driver CD).Note! You can also plug the hub into a USB 2.0 port, but you will not benefit from the increased speed and power that USB 3.0 brings.***** Testing *****I plugged my Buffalo USB 3.0 MiniStation Slim HDD, into one of the ports on the hub and then ran a CrystalDisk Mark test on the hard disk to test the read and write speeds of the drive. The Sequential Read speed was 112.5 MB/s while the Sequential Write speed was 112.8 (see product images for more detail), pretty much identical speeds as when connecting the HDD straight to the Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.0 card.Although i haven't ran any sort of data throughput tests on the hub's included Gigabit ethernet port, i can confirm that windows shows that the ethernet port connected at 1.0 Gbps and web browsing and streaming video was as smooth as my usual 1.0 Gbps ethernet connection.***** Conclusion *****The Inateck USB 3.0 hub and Ethernet port, is a great little device - allowing you to easily expand the number of USB 3.0 ports available on your laptop or PC, while at the same time you get the added bonus of an extra Ethernet port.Although the casing is made of plastic, the hub feels nice and solid and of very good quality. The only thing that would have been nice to have, but isn't included on the Inateck HBU3VL3-4 hub, would be a power indicator LED for the USB ports and send/receive indicator LED's for the Ethernet port, but this would definitely not stop me from recommending the product in the future.

Cracking little product. Feels quite well made relative to the usual low end electronic stuff, even down to the packaging which had a high end feel to it. Plugged it into to my old Surface Pro 2 and was up and running in a couple of seconds. The Gigabit connection runs at the full 1,000mbps no problems and is rock solid stable. I was concered about speeds transferring data over the gigabit connection to a USB 3 device also connected to the Inateck hub as they might be fighting over bandwidth. There is a bit of a slow down but not a great deal and I'm very impressed. At full whack transferred data over the gigabit connection to the SSD in the Surface I get around 130-140 MB/s.Transferring large files over the gigabit connection to a device connected to the hub as well I get a solid 113 MB/s - both drives at either end of the transfer dont go above 70% utilisation so there is more headroom from my drives so if I was using a seperate gigabit connection and a seperate USB 3 connection I would obviously be getting the 140 MB/s but for something like the Surface pro this isn't possible. The hub is only light and small so would be easy to carry with you.For me the only thing missing are data transfer lights on the RJ45 port but it's not a huge issue.Just transferred 1 TB of large data files in a little over 2 and a half hours (would have taken about 9 hours on USB2). Very impressed.

Having recently purchased a Surface Pro 2 Tablet, I wanted the option of Ethernet connectivity and USB connections, I really didn't expect to find anything suitable, but I was wrong.Having purchased other inateck items in the past I was very pleased to discover that they also made all-in-one Ethernet & USB adaptors.First off, its a solid and well constructed piece of equipment, then there's the connectivity which on this model contains a Gigabit Ethernet port and 3x USB3 ports.Upon connecting the adaptor, the USB ports work without the need for any drivers (on windows 8 anyway), however in order to use the Ethernet port, Drivers are required which come bundled on a CD within the box, however if you are like me, you will need to simply head over to the Inateck website to obtain them which is very self-explanatory.All in all i'm very impressed and would highly recommend.

I have now bought two of these - great at first but the Ethernet on the first one died after 15 months - I put this down to bad luck and bought a replacement as it was so good when it worked. The second onedeveloped the same problem after 6 months.Inatek responded to my negative review the next morning and sent a replacement. At first I was disappointed that my PC also failed to recognise the Ethernet device. I then spotted that I had a new CD drive. As I am using a Lenovo Yoga with no drive this was surprising! This drive had appeared a few months back about the time the Inatek adaptor stopped working. I ran the install .exe on the CD drive which then disappeared and an Ethernet adaptor replaced it!I'm guessing this was a Windows update problem (8.1)?Many thanks for the excellent customer service - wish all companies were as responsive.

I bought this after first checking the manufacturers website making sure it was not some broken rarely supported Chinese company. Found it was a German company with both german and english domains/website and the hardware was showing driver updates for most products on windows 8.1 (which is what I am using). I had seen another version from a different manufacturer for 10 quid less but plagued with faults so I would rather pay that extra bit of money for a better products. Anyways it works fine haven't been able to test usb3 speed fully as I have nothing to test it with was more after the ethernet port which I can add in windows 8.1 worked without any driver installation so spot on.Would haveliked to see the addition of some notification lights on the ethernet port and maybe add a powered option but all seems to work fine so I am happy.

RUN, don't walk, to buy this if you have any need at all for Gigabit ethernet, !!!!The added 3 port USB3 Hub is a super bonus, !ANY machine with USB3 can benefit from Gigabit Ethernet now using just a USB3 port. The unit is beautifully made, well packed, simplicity to install on Win 8.1 - simply plug it in, Windows does the rest, no disc needed.A fully featured 10/100/1000 port is added. This would be a bargain at twice the price. Many people are using home cloud solutions and NAS. Often laptops do not have gigabit ethernet and can benefit from this unit. Copy files and backups to local NAS is now a breeze.Support pairing and fail over if needed for critical links. Quality, speed and excellent price. No hesitation for 5 stars.

Very good little device, 3 USB 3 ports and an ethernet port - what could be better? Unfortunately there is one flaw. If, like most people, your USB card is around the back of the PC, the lead is ridiculously short! Theses things are meant to be for convenience in plugging things in without scrabbling around at the back of the computer, so having a very short lead defeats the object! Very good otherwise.*This item was supplied to me by Inateck for testing purposes. The above review is my own work*#Edit 4.3.14#Ok, after some 'banter' with other people's comments, and some communication with Inateck, I am happy to upgrade my review to 5 stars.

I was rather taken aback when I bought a laptop recently only to find that it did not have an Ethernet port. It appears that the ubiquitous RJ45 socket may be going the same way as the old serial port connections. Although most of us probably now use wireless connection to our local network, there are occasions (for me, at least) where an Ethernet connection is necessary for specific equipment. The other reason for the new laptop was to get one with faster USB3 ports. This, in combination with the 3-port USB3 hub of this Inateck device, has provided the perfect solution.

I was sceptical about a bus-powered three port hub at first, but having had this for a couple of days I must say it is awesome. Its a well built box and the addition of an ethernet port is a stroke of genius. The ports support all external USB3 and 2 peripherals I could throw at it. The ethernet worked out of the box on my Macbook Pro (2012 model) and Mac Pro (5.1). *using the drivers includedI don't take my macbook out with me, but if I did then this is without doubt the perfect accessory to have with me.even the packaging is well thought out.

I love this device - 3 USB 3.0 ports and a 10/100/1000 Gigabit ethernet port all from 1 USB 3.0 socket. Perfect for Macbook Air users. Shame it is a little expensive, but I guess if you can afford a MacBook air, what's another £30 ha. Good build quality, solid cable (if a little inflexible, I'd rather that than flimsy), OK spacing between the USB sockets (you may struggle to use all of the ports if plugging something really fat into one of them). Works well. No driver installation required on Mac (I'd assume the same on Windows!).

A simple and elegant, but above all cheap solution to the problem of connecting a laptop without an RJ45 access point to the internet to leverage best speeds. This and an RJ45 cable allowed my daughter to link her ultra-thin Lenovo laptop to her University internet without having to resort to wireless, providing greater dependability of signal while also giving her extra usb 3 ports. She's happy, I'm happy, and the device has proved to be dependable and reliable in use.

Inateck 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Gigabit Ethernet Port RJ45 10/100/1000 Lan Wired Network Adapter With 1 Foot USB 3.0 Cable Very good product. I use it many times with my Surface Pro 4 and works very good! Plug and play. Works with External HD, mouse, network RJ45 cable, everything with USB, 2.0 and 3.0. There is a video in my YouTube channel DVigas ETI. Works also with notebook and PCs

However, if used with a tablet, just remember that tablets don't provide enough USB power to connect devices to the three ports. It is not the adapter fault. It works well as Ethernet connector what it is great since my tablet has not got a RJ45 and WiFi is not always a good idea to transfer big amount of data.

23.12.2015

I use this along with a CAT-5 crossover cable to directly connect my Sinology NAS to my Macbook - an excellent bit of kit. It does need a driver installed if you want to use the ethernet port, but that was a simple matter of downloading it from the manufacturers website and installing it.

I actually bought this to make accessing my USB 3 ports easier than reaching around the back of my PC.I am very pleased with its build quality and the fact there appears to be no noticeable reduction in transfer rates with attached drives using my Acronis Backup software.
