Delivery;Arrived promptly within a few days, package was easy to open and protective.Reason for purchase;I bought the hub so I could use the back 4 (now 3 since the hub uses one port) USB ports and the two front USB ports for other equipment. I chose this specific hub over others due to the design, and the high ratings.Problems so far?;The only two problems I have encountered so far are:1. After putting the 4 USB devices in and installed, I put the 5th in and got a bluescreen.2. I put a Wireless USB stick into one of the ports and every once in a while it stopped connecting*.No other issues with the hub and it works flawlessly with whatever is plugged in.Design; It's smaller than I expected, though a lot of things look bigger in books/online. Suffice to say it's small, compact and does the job. It sits nicely next to my Desktop tower. Depending on what you use for your plug sockets you may have a few "quirks".- If you have a wall-socket with a 2/3 socket plug, you'll have to use an alternative, as the long plug will stop you plugging it on the top, and will block any plug if used on the front.- If you use an extension lead with multiple sockets you'll find the plug design to be no problem, even with a socket-plug (depending on if you have it hanging or on the floor). The ports position make it easier to use any wide USB's without fear of 'conflict'. The green LED's are not overpoweringly bright, and only the power LED remains on when the computer is turned off.Recommendations;I would definitely recommend this product to other people who need an easy compact hub for additional ports. I have yet to contact support for any reason.Other;I have currently got a webcam, printer, mouse, keyboard, and wireless USB stick plugged into the hub, and all work simultaneously. Also, the hub does not overheat quickly, instead it can sustain a cold/reasonable temperature for a relatively long time.--*however, other devices still work in the port and the USB wireless stick works in an alternative port. Probably a picky wireless stick.

I originally bought this hub to add extra USB2 ports to my rather old and creaky Windows XP PC which I use for legacy software reasons. As expected when the hub was connected it was recognised by XP and installed without any problems what-so-ever (no additional driver needed). However when it come to actually using the hub some of the devices that I connected, namely a 3.5” USB Floppy Drive (yessss, I know !!) and a rather old USB Freecom Toughdrive had problems. In both instances the devices would periodically (and quite often) disconnect and then re-connect while in use. Other devices such as Mice, Keyboards, Trackballs, USB Pen Drives, Printers, and indeed the hub it’s self, would stay connected without any problem.I had a feeling that the problem lay more with my PC than the hub it’s self since these problems with the Floppy Drive and the Toughdrive would arise even if connected directly to my PC USB ports (one of the reasons for buying this hub in the first place). I therefore put my problems down to experience and decided disconnect the hub from my PC and put it into storage. However some months ago I built myself a new Ryzen based PC running 64bit Windows 10 Pro and decided to give this USB hub another go and I have to say that, so far, it has performed brilliantly. Obviously installation on Windows 10 was completely painless and any device which I connect to the hub, including the aforementioned USB Floppy Drive and the Toughdrive, run perfectly without any problems at all. The hub it’s self has so far proved totally reliable with no drop-outs or disconnects, despite having being powered-up pretty well permanently for the last 7 months or so. The fast charge ports work fine and come in handy when it comes to charging phones and tablets.Should things change for the worse I will update my review and rating accordingly but as of this moment I am more than happy to award this good quality, compact, neat and reasonably priced USB2 hub a five star rating – at least when connected to a Windows 10 based PC !RegardsAde.

Giving it 5 stars because it hasn't gone wrong yet, if it goes wrong you might as well give it 1 star because it's not actually doing anything but months on from the purchase and it hasn't dropped out once. Hopefully if it stays working then I can quite happily say this makes your computing experience much less frustrating. Everything and anything comes on USB connections these days but I'm sure you've noticed that you never seem to have enough of the damn ports themselves and they always put more of them round the fiddly back don't they!, and then you resort to unplugging and replugging, and what do you know something inevitably won't detect and you'll be tearing your hair out in frustration because it's now a reset Windows job to get your devices back again! This product alleviates these sorts of annoyances and allows you to keep your assortment of inevitable USB hard drives, pen drives, webcam, printer or whatever you've got permanently plugged in and all at a quite zippy USB 2.0 speed too. The only downside is that you'll need to find an extra plug in what is your probably already over congested power extension sockets behind your PC, but there's nothing D-Link can do about that as things like USB hard drives need the plug in power to operate. It's not restricted to your PC's or laptops either, a friend found he could massively extend his PS3's USB capabilties with this, instead of a mere 2 slots for his assortment of drives containing TV galore he now had 7!Who doesn't want more USB slots 'nuff said.

I bought this product as I needed additional USB ports on my Mac Pro and I wanted something that was more reliable for use with several bus powered hard drives. There are plenty of USB hubs to choose from, and whilst there are now USB 3 hubs with additional features such as lights and on/off switches I understand that many of these can be unreliable when using USB hard drives.I am happy to say that this product functions perfectly. I am using several external hard dives, some bus powered, and all work perfectly all the time. I am also using a wireless mouse adapter and a keyboard and have experienced no issues whatsoever. The device itself is very neat and compact, especially given the fact that there are 7 ports. The bottom of the device has little rubber feet which prevent it from slipping and sliding around on my desk which is a very nice touch. The included cable to connect this to the computer is a decent length however the power cable which is also included is fairly short. This was not a major issue for me but might be something to consider. Two of the ports are dedicated for charging and I use these to charge my Nintendo 3DS and my Bluetooth headphones, again this works perfectly and I have had no issues at all.Overall this is an excellent product if you are looking for something functional and reliable and DLink are an excellent brand to choose for these types of products, I have previously purchased networking equipment by them and have always found it to be of excellent quality as well.

This item is actually the black shiny one shown in the customer photos, not the silver older looking one.I use this hub with my work laptop so that I only have one USB cable to plug in when I sit at my desk (for mouse, keyboard, smartphone, USB pen-drive and other devices I use for work). This is the first hub I've used where the transfer speeds to and from my phone and pen-drive are similar to when they're plugged straight into the laptop. The power adaptor also means it can charge my phone at a descent speed, and carries on charging when I take the laptop away to a meeting. Here are some details for techies:According to the manual, all 7 ports supply 500 mA when connected to the PC,but when disconnected (or PC is shut down) the two high-power ports supply 1.2 A. If you want them to supply 1.2 A while connected to the PC, you have to download ipad_charge.exe from the D-Link website. This is no longer available, but you can get it here: [...]Running this utility doesn't seem to make any difference to the rate my phone charges; maybe it only works with an actual iPad, I dunno.Lost 1 star for software not being available and inability to tell whether ports are really supplying 1.2 A or 500 mA. Great hub though, certainly worth the money!

I purchased this product because I ran out of USB ports on my iMac. After considering other hubs this seemed to be the best option and had the best overall reviews so I went for it. I have not been disappointed! The hub is small, an sleek looking and sits nicely on my desk. It comes with an AC power cable for fully powering USB devices and for charging phones, cameras etc, even when your computer is off or the USB cable is unplugged. In terms of performance it is pretty much as good as I expected - It works, but isn't outstandingly good. I currently have a USB gaming headset, an Xbox 360 controller, a USB MIDI keyboard and a Blu-ray Rewrite drive plugged into it,and it all works just as well as if I plug it directly into my computers USB ports. However with all of these plugged in, the hub cannot provide sufficient power for charging a phone or camera, but to be honest I never expected it to. It's a perfectly good, and very useful gadget. Finally, it works equally well with Mac OSX or Windows 7, so you don't have to worry about compatibility with your chosen OS, which is great because I'm constantly switching between the two. Conclusion: Not amazing but easily worth the money. Would certainly recommend.

Simple installation - plug and play. Nice compact unit, doesn't slide around the desk too much. I do find it slightly irritating that each port is illuminated with a green light even when nothing is plugged into it, but that's not the end of the world. However, what I do find is that some devices really do not like being plugged into this hub. I don't know if it's related to the current these devices draw, but even though this hub has its own power supply, if I plug (as an example) my Freecom external hard drive into the hub, then Windows does not always start successfully. I don't know the reason, but that's what happens. If I unplug the device from the hub and plug the device directly into another port on my PC then everything is ok again. So,for most devices this hub is good (and I have every port in use now). But there do appear to be some things that do not work well with it. I am guessing that it relates to the current drawn but that is a guess.[Note added March 2016 - now ordering my third one of these. Whilst a competent product, they do seem to have a limited lifespan before failing completely.]

I found that this USB hub has a slight problem, it seems to be fickle about the order in which the various points are plugged in. If you find that not all lights come on when using the hub, then unplug the USB Hub's power, unplug the USB wire at the back and unplug the USB wire connecting to your computer. Then, plug the power in first, then the USB wire on the back, then the USB wire on your computer.Aside from that, it's my first USB hub and works perfectly. 7 slots is plenty for what I'm paying for this.Tested it on Windows XP, Vista, 7, and Ubuntu 9.04 to 11.04.-----NOTE ABOUT RASPBERRY PI:This hub can serve as a hub extension for the Raspberry Pi. You can connect it to the USB-out on the Raspberry Pi,then connect whatever USB devices to the hub, and the Raspberry Pi will pick them up.However, this hub will NOT *power* the Raspberry Pi. So if you are thinking of saving on clutter by having this USB hub as the sole provider of power, this is not the hub for you. I am still searching for one that will work as the provider of USB and power together.

I had a 7 port hub before this, originally to use with my Raspberry Pi however you couldn't use it powered as it back-charged into the device and powering it from the USB ports and stopping it from booting properly. Most of what I needed worked fine on it, without the power. Then I tried using it with another computer (with only 3 USB slots) and I tried powering it and it blew, taking all but one of my USB ports with it and ruining all my peripherals. Then I found this device, I was being very careful when looking as I didn't want to lose my one remaining USB port. This looked good and it works brilliantly. No back-charge either.I use it mainly with my Mac and it works fine.It can easily run two external hard drives, plus mouse and keyboard, and a USB stick with no issues at all.The only real issue that I've had, is if you leave the power plugged in on start up then the computer doesn't load properly, but if you leave it out and then plug the power in after the computer has booted, then everything loads and works fine.

The DUB-H7 Hub that I received is not the same as the hub in the description ... i.e. the grey one with the indicator lights ... mine is shiny black, no individual LED ... but it does the job I want it to do.It has 7 ports that all work when your computer is on, (blue LED showing) and the 2 on the right stay powered up (green LED showing) when your computer is turned off ... so useful to keep mobile phones, etc charged up.I have read some of the reviews which suggest that you cannot sync iPhones and charge using the DUB-H7 ... I don't have any problems using my iPhone 4S. I even made sure that wifi on the phone was switched off and sync this phone over wifi was also de-selected ..and all is OK.I wanted a quality powered hub to charge up my phones, and also for the wifi connector for my Bamboo tablet ... both now running at full steam.I have had several cheapy hubs, and been soundly disappointed ... so far so good, and I see no reason why it would not give years of service.

I have bought many USB Ethernet Adapters over the years - which says it all really. So I decided to buy a well-known brand and I was not disappointed. This is not the slimmest or lightest of products - it is an older model (there is a newer model on Amazon). It does work with Windows 7. As it is an older product it does not come with Windows 7 drivers, however, due to it being a D-Link product there is great online support for you to download the updated drivers (you can install a Windows XP driver that comes on the disc which will work to get you online to update the driver). After using the product for a month or so I noticed the blue screen of death appearing in Windows 7 and so I looked atthe Windows updates and there was an updated driver there for this product - so it is well supported. After installing the updated driver there has been no problems.Would recommend this if you are just looking for a basic adapter with good online driver support for good value.

I bought one of these in Feb 2010. Deliberately went for this as it had lots of good reviews and I haven't been disappointed. I had purchased a couple of cheap powered hubs but neither of them worked properly or would deliver enough power - I have several pocket hard drives (old type WD passports) and none of the cheaper hubs would power them all even though the hubs had mains adaptors to drive the extra juice. No such problems with the D-link, it's been in service every day since Feb 2010. I have yet to find a device it has a problem with - it's currently got 3 USB-powered external drives, another (powered) hub built into a monitor daisychained (with a wireless mouse dongle and the monitor's inbuilt webcam and mike running off that)and a video camera plumbed into it, all working sweet as a nut off a single USB upstream cable to the USB port on my 2007 macbook. If I need another hub this model will be top of my list.

This is a difficult review to write, because having had the unit for some time, its shortcomings mar what could be a great product. The unit is very light in weight, which means that if you have enough cables connected to the USB outlets, the cables drag it off the desk. It's a shame that there are neither fixing brackets moulded into the body, nor a separate bracket that gives the user the option of screwing it to the desk.Furthermore, I bought it to replace an unpowered USB hub because that would not run my Lexar external card reader, but the D-Link won't run this either; nor will it run my Aver Media TV unit, which somewhat diminishes its utility. However, it does run my printers, is compact, runs very cool, and so far , I haven't suffered from the fragility that others have reported.I'm sorry that this review rather sits on the fence, but I hope others will find it useful.

I've had this for a few weeks now and have used it at home and at work for my audio interface and authorisation dongle. I am giving it five stars because it simply works with my MacBook and so is always recognised, always recognises devices plugged into it.As I expected, it will not power my external hard drives and I can only guess that it would if I plugged the D-Link into the mains using its included power supply. The thing I'm most excited about - although I think this is more to do with Parallels software than the D-Link - is that, when running both Windows in a Parallels virtual machine as well as OS X, the D-Link can talk to both operating systems. So I can have my old USB trigger to MIDI interface talking to Windows and my new audio interface talking to OS X. Parallels Desktop rules! The D-Link is small and light for taking out and about and seems durable.

With an ever increasing number of USB stuff to connect, I needed to upgrade my hub. I've used several other 4 port USB hubs from a range of manufactures in the past and they have all gone in the cupboard since I connected up the D-Link. This is not just because I needed more connections! I had always had trouble with my external hard drives (who hasn't) and sometimes the computer would not see them after coming out of hibernate or stand-by and you had to pull out the USB lead and reconnect (always risky) just to get the computer to 'see' them again. But since D-Link, I've not had this problem. Also other USB stuff has connected reliably. If there is a gripe, it is with the green light on every port,I don't really need this as the computer tells me if the device is connected!
