This little USB HUB is absolutely tiny however you can see from the construction of the case and the way it's packaged that it's a higher quality unit. It features 3 standard USB ports and one that is for charging. To use the charging port to its full potential you have to plug it into the wall with the included 5V adapter. The unit shows you whether the HUB is using power from the USB connection or Power through an LED on the top.Good points about this item:- Looks fantastic and the size enables it to be used in multiple scenarios.- The ports all worked and were plug and play on Linux (Debian more specifically)and Windows 8.1- The charging port is quicker than the standard USB port for charging my phone.- The cables provided are of a high quality- Doesn't require power to run the main 3 USB ports.Bad points:- The power adapter is pretty chunky.- The case is a fingerprint and dust magnet.Overall this little USB hub is great and doesn't look god awful (in my opinion) like some of the others available. Would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a HUB and it's verified for the Raspberry Pi as well so it can offer you more USB ports plug and play on that device. 5/5

I bought this hub for a slightly unusual reason. I needed to connect two long USB 2.0 cables (over 8 Metres in total) to go from my PC upstairs to a freeview recorder box downstairs. You definitely need additional power for this long a cable run so I decided to buy a powered ('active') USB hub to join the cables. It has done the job really well. It comes with a PSU so I was up and running straight away. I've never had a dropped connection and performance seems very good. LED indicator lights show activity and status on each port. It's very neat and compact for a hub - it doesn't take up much desk space and looks nice next to my aluminium PC case. It comes with a quite long USB 2.0 cable to connect it to the PC.It was recognised straight away by Windows XP and 2000 without any messing about. It works fine in its more traditional role of connecting multiple USB devices to a single port on my PC. I don't bother using its separate PSU for this task and it works fine without it.All in all, very happy. Even though it's perhaps relatively expensive for a 4 port USB 2.0 hub, I think it's worth it.

I bought this after sending two unpowered hubs back to Amazon. So far it has worked with no problem. Some people seem to think the power supply is optional. The manual (Yes, it comes with a manual!)does not give this as an option. I use it to connect two USB disc drives and a CF card reader to a laptop. Without the power supply the drives do not work. I haven't bothered to see whether the reader needs the power supply also. To be safe, use the power supply even though some devices may work without it.The hub supplied was different in appearance from the one illustrated, but was labelled as a DUB-H4. The four ports are in-line.

Neat, well-built and packaged with own power supply and power out USB for powering / charging devices. If I was going to attach it to a Mac or PC and use it to charge an iPad, I suspect this device would function very well indeed. That said, I bought it for a Raspberry Pi and the model I received cannot immediately be used to power the RPi from the power out USB AND connect devices to the other ports. Strangely one of the standard USB ports does seem to power the RPi and does connect my keyboard and mouse. Still think its a good buy, but RPi owners need to read the forums first.

The product I received *did* have a UK power supply.I bought it mainly as a way of connecting a printer which had ended up being moved to more than 5m from my PC, as a more flexible alternative to using a USB repeater cable. However, now I have it, it will probably get used for plugging in all kinds of other devices and leaving the area near the PC less clutteredAs a cheap powered hub from a decent manufacturer, which plugs happily on to the end of my existing long A-B USB cable, it's hard to beat.

This is a well designed and constructed USB 2.0 hub with PSU brick. I recently bought a WD 250GB Passport drive which works OK on my Sony VAIO but not on any of three desktop PCs in the house due to limitations on the current available from their USB ports. The Passport drive has no provision for a power brick and the Lindy dual-USB cable also failed to spin up the drive. This powered hub worked first time on all three PCs, providing enough current from the USB port to spin up the Passport drive.

-- Changing my review -- Unfortunately the number of stars given can't also be changed, but if it could, I'd mark this down to two stars!I had a power surge and not only did this fry, it also fried my new printer! There are powered USB hubs out there with surge protection that are prettier, more reliable, and perhaps act faster (it seems to me anyway). The one I'm thinking of (and I bought as a replacement) is this E-Solution USB 2.0 7 Port Powered Hub 7 PORT USB HUB, inc. UK PSU ? ES-00026.

I bought this hub to allow me to allow me to extend the distance between computer and my Midi Keyboard controllers (USB bus powered). First off the size of this is amazing (6x6cm 2cm high) so it's tiny and the PSU has a decent length of cable, PC BIOS & Windows 8 Pro immediately saw this hub and configured it with no extra drivers required. Another bonus is I've seen no issues of cross talking which can happen when using multiple USB Midi devices connected through the same hub.

This product works well with all the peripherals I wanted to attach. Unlike my previous hub it handles my printers, scanner, external hard drive etc, because it has its own power I paid a few extra pence to get it from MyMemory as they confirmed it had a UK plug, a concern I had after reading some of the reviews. Ballicom neither picked up the phone nor responded to my email and Base, though helpful, thought it was a UK plug but could not confirm that.

I bought this in Feb (4 months ago) as I needed a powered hub for my USB drive. Worked out of the box without any problems but now the power LED appears to start flashing/flickering at random times. The device still appears to work as normal but I am nervous especially as I do my image backups using it. I may well return it.

D-Link DUB-H4 - 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub (External)This is easily the best hub I have purchased,I have been using it for some time now with no problems at all perfect in every way.I use all four ports at all times as they fit very securely.Very fair price considering the quality and very good delivery as usual.

Connected a power hungry midi-keyboard to my iPad Pro (with Apple CCK) no problem, and it's very handy for powering a couple of other bits and bobs at the same time. If you need simple usb power for connecting peripherals your device then you're not going to be disappointed at this price.

An impressive piece of equipment. Nice looking and does the job really well. It comes supplied with a mains supply which is needed if high drain power peripherals like USB hard drives are going to be used. A valuable extension to your Desk/Laptop if USB interface are in short supply.

I had a need for some additional USB ports to my iMAC I searched around and found the D-Link 4 Port Hub. It works as advertised and also has a great feature. Unlike a lot of other powered hubs, the D-Link can still be used to charge my iPhone and iPod even when the computer is off.
