The gaming headphones market is a competitive one. Manufacturers are, it seems, prone to make big claims for their products. For that reason I was inclined to be sceptical at first – however my feelings changed swiftly after taking the headset out of the box.Construction: The set is well made in a light but stylish and durable combination of foam, leather and plastic. Lines are clean and uncluttered. The headset is comfortable to wear and the Frostcap ‘Active Cooling Technology’ actually does what it claims. The cooling effect stops an uncomfortable build-up of heat and makes for a comfortable gaming experience. The microphone is easily pulled down from the upright position and adjusted as necessary.

This HP OMEN, Mindframe2 PC Gaming Headset is a good-looking product that is very well featured indeed. Although the product description says gaming headset it can actually be used for any activity where you need to communicate as well as just listen – Skype and monitoring for example. The headset is quite large but is very light and comfortable and can be worn for long periods without discomfort thanks to the Omen active cooling technology. The inner headband is soft and automatically adjusts to your head size so does not need to be physically altered. The soft material of the ear muffs allows for heat dissipation to make for a comfortable wearing experience and the sound quality from the drivers is very good.

My son is a very active gamer and has been through a few headsets. While they are still new to him, he says this is the best set he has had. He finds them very comfortable and loves the surround sound aspects. His old set was "Razor" and he says that these are much better in terms of sound quality, overall comfort and versatility (he did comment that the bass was sometimes a bit heavy, but that was the only complaint). I have to say that from my POV, £180 is awfully expensive but you do often get what you pay for, so if you are going to be using headphones for extended periods, I suppose it makes sense to invest in a pair you will enjoy wearing.

With a price tag of £170, you're going to want headphones to excel in sound, comfort, and durability. These headphones - at least as far as I am concerned - tick all those boxes - and how. I loaned these to my friend's teenage son for a weekend, when he goes on one of his gaming marathons. He found them excellent - deep, punding bass, immersive sound reproduction, excellent microphone. He really was taken into the full surround experience, and, most importantly, they were very comfortable for a lengthy gaming sesh. Hiw only disappointment came from having to give 'em back! Highgly recommended.

This is the second Mindframe 2 I have purchase. I own one and lent it my son after his Corsair headset was broken by the puppy chewing through the wire. My son loved it so much that he asked for one. Hence why I have bought two. The are comfortable and have great sound and the noise cancelling on the headset mic is great. I would recommend to gamers just remember to use the HP Omen software to get the most out of these headphones.
