I bought this game because I something to play something that was fun and not too challenging. The graphics are very good (much better than I expected) and there is plenty to do in the game. Aside from training your dragons, you must collect items for recipes, do challenges, complete mini-quests, compete in wild fights and also in tournaments. Not to mention the fact that you must feed and care for your dragons after each training session, fight or challenge. At the start of the game in story mode you have one dragon (Night Fury) and your first challenge is to train up your dragon to a certain level in both melee and fire to compete in the first tournament (the first tournament is really easy but they get harder the further you progress). After winning the first tournament you are allowed to collect a new dragon from the docks near the village, which you will then be able to train up for the next tournament where upon winning you can obtain another dragon. The process continues until you have been named champion of the fourth tournament and you can collect your fourth and final dragon. In training there are seven different combos (melee's) to learn, each of which have four levels of difficulty and for fire there are six different combos, again each of which have four levels of difficulty. Therefore to fully train your dragon you must complete 52 training battles. Then consider the fact that you have to repeat this process three more times (one for each dragon you obtain as you progress). On the plus side this vast amount of training allows to you perfect the combos you've learned. Trainig your dragons is fun but can get a bit repetitive. There are also five challenges (mini games) to play which include Ice Sculpting, Looping Race, Flying Shepherd, Memory Torch and Puzzle Dragon. Each challenge has three levels of difficulty; novice, normal and expert. The challenges are fun and you receive experience pionts to help your dragon level up and are also awarded money and rare items. The only down point about the game in my opinion was the story (or lack of). To put it simply you compete in four tournaments then you enter the fifth one where it says you are going to show off your skills (but really it's just another tournament). Then when you win the final tournament you are congratulated briefly by Hiccup's Father then the credits start to roll. No battling the mother dragon in the middle of a volcano like in the film, which I personally found a bit disappointing. Another bad point is that it only took me 12 hours to complete). But overall this game is good if you want some light entertainment that's not too challenging. I'm glad that I waited for the price to go down before I bought it.

This game is definitely aimed at the childrens audience captured by the books and the film- my son started reading the books and saw the film last year before getting this game. This is primarily a one player game - there is a 2 player mode in the Arena but this is a small part of the overall package. The game takes you to the isle of Berk where you choose a role as Astrid or Hiccup (with one dragon each). The graphics in the game are very close to the film and drew my son in straight away. The opening tasks are largely about showing the layout of Berk and the controls - it takes a little while to get going but for an 8yr old novice player it was ideal.Once you've learnt the system, you switch between training & caring for your dragon and completing various collection tasks before entering the tournament. The gameplay in the tournament is a little weak - you have access to combo moves you haven't done in training and the AI is so weak that random shaking & pressing will get you through the first fights. This does improve later on as the player gets more control and the AI gets harder. Similarly the Novice level puzzles are very easy - but this does improve. It probably is possible to complete the game in 12 hours as one other reviewer stated but I think that's for an experienced game player. My lad has probably spent well over that time on it, is less than 50% of the way through the story and just enjoying himself. Sometimes he enjoys just simply collecting random items (scragging sheep!) and moving round the island other times continuously repainting his dragons for fun. He's already talking about what he'll do differnet next time he starts from the beginning. Not a five star game as there are a few small niggles:- Lack of two player mode in Story arc- Arena gameplay not as strong as it could be- menus in 'caring section' are not as intuitive as other Wii games (doesn't use pointer, it's up, down, +/-)Overall a well put together game with strong film tie-in and excellent graphics. Definitely worth the money for an 8yr old fan of books and film.

Overall this is a good game.I have been trying to buy this game in shops for a year and have had no luck so I had to order it online, it is very hard to find. I tried a number of different cites and my local city but I just never came across it.The game is fun to play, you can play as Hiccup or Astrid and all the dragons from the film (except for the Terrible Terror because it is too small). It is quite short for a game and doesn't have a excellent story line. You can customise your dragons and training them is fun. There are also great mini games and the flying is very well done. Not the best game ever but still great, Buy it :)If you enjoyed this game you will also enjoy The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon.

I bought this game for my children as they are big how to train your dragon fans (as am I!) and it looked like fun. I have ended up playing it with them as it's so good! Also can be played by a 5 year old with ease.Puzzles and challenges are all entertaining, train your dragons to fight in the arena or go for an adventure on mini games.I think that if they ever complete it they will start all over again. There is also an "arcade" type mode where you just fight!Top class WII game in our opinion. A+

This game is a must have for anyone who has watched how to train your dragon, suitable for young and old alike. This is an adevnture game where you have to take care of a dragon, there are lots of games to play on this to up your levels, you also have to feed and keep your dragon alive, by finding hidden objects..My daughter is totally addicted (shes 12) and she thinks its the best game shes had..

Bought this game for our son, who is absolutely fixated with anything associated with dragons. With this game he can choose which dragon he wants to play, give it upgrades and armour. Only problem is,once he starts, you just can't get him to drag himself away from the game !!!. Never mind. Have not had another game like this one, so cannot give any opinion to compare to other games.

I bought this game for my 8 year old daughter, who is great fan of the movie. She loves the game. It's been 3 months since she got it and still plays it almost every day. I've just ordered the same game for xbox for my daughter's friend as a birthday gift, she asked for. After playing it few times when she visited us, she said it's her favourite game.

My twin boys aged 9 just can't get enough of this Wii game. They like having to search for food for their dragon, learning skills and of course fighting the other dragons! It's a must!

Really good gameplay and very engrossing for anyone who has seen the films, TV programmes or read the books. Pick for favourite character, grab a dragon and let's take on all comers!

Quite a good game, also to play it well requires building up your dragons strength, there is quite a bit of violence in the game, I actually prefer playing table tennis
