Thomas & Friends FJK56 Nia and the ElephantThis is a fun Thomas & Friends train & carriage set. This motorised Nia and elephant set consists of Nia the train engine, 2 pull along carriages, plus elephant and plastic straw bales.Nia the train is quite heavy, it's made from plastic, it's also motorised which probably accounts for the weight. Nia is powered by 2 AAA batteries, these are installed by removing a screw at the front of the trains underside. The train top then lifts off to reveal the battery compartment. The 2 carriages are also made from plastic, these carriages hook onto the train via slender plastic hooks. The elephant has a swivel head, he will also clip into one of the railway carriages. The 2 bales of straw sit in the other carriage. The train has a switch on top which when activated rotates the wheels. The train set is plastic, there are one or two weak areas so it will need to be treated with care. The plastic hooks which attach the carriages to the train are a little weak & flimsy, also the wheels on the train are a bit thin & wobbly too. All in all though, it's a fun Thomas & Friends set to own, especially if it's intended to buy the whole collection.Contents -1 x Nia Train2 x Carriages1 x Elephant1 x Pair of straw bales1 x User ManualThank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Really love this motorized set from the Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Big World sets. This one has a lovely replica of Nia the African train who Thomas meets on his travels and here she is pulling along two cargo carts - the carts have room for cargo and come with the removable cargo of a cute elephant with positionable/turnable head in one cart and two barrels of hay as food in the other cart. Both engine and cargo carts have a very good paint job on them and feature impressive little details which really make them stand out as quality additions.Nia is motorized / battery powered and as such will fit and run perfectly with all modern TrackMaster sets and tracks (although will need slight adjustment/sanding down on the underside to run smoothly on the older non-TrackMaster sets). She will fit in very well with the Turbo Jungle Set or Monkey Palace Set especially and looks great with motorized Animal Adventure Percy who has some exotic animals of hos own in the cargo carts he comes with. The motorized engines in the TrackMaster range are more expensive as expected and especially when they have the addition of additional carriages and cargo, so although its at the higher end of these non-track sets I think it's still great value for what you're getting as the quality is great.

The Nia train with 2 trailers comes quite nicely presented in a box with a see through window. This is one of the motorised trains and it does require 2 x AAA batteries (not supplied) and a Philips screwdriver to open it but it opens very easily. There’s a simple leaver on the back of the train to turn it off and on. If you don’t have any tracks (like me) I will put out a warning that this doesn’t work on carpet/rugs but it runs well on wooden/tiled floors as long as there are no obstacles – there’s not really enough power to push them out the way. When coupled up, the length of the train and trailers is 11.5” long and Nia is just over 4.5” x just over 1.5”.There’s nothing holding the hay bales in so they will fall out easily when it’s tipped whereas the elephant (with its moving head) does have little pins to slot into to keep it in place – there’s a lot of texture detailing in it. Nia really looks the character in the books/TV programme so instantly recognisable. She is all plastic and the front wheels feel a bit more flimsy than the rest but overall it’s a nice little set and isn't that noisy when running.

My children have really enjoyed this. It has been played with by a five year old, three tear old and even my 18 month old has been getting g her hands on it. So that said, it is very durable and forgiving to bumps, drops and knocks. The product is as advertised. The worse thing about this product is the battery life. The battery lasts for about four hours continued use. But I guess for the traction required it isn't bad. For the regular price for the product I would have liked to have seen it include a reverse switch. However, for the deal price it is quite good value. The children all got very animated playing with this. And to be honest I am unsure why. I can't knock it but I don't understand why they enjoyed it so much. But they were literally enthralled for it, so much so they fought over it.The quality is good, the same as anything branded Thomas the Tank. Now to get the rest I think...

This is a motorised "Helpful Harvey" engine with two carriages that is perfect for expanding your little ones Thomas set. The engine needs 2 x AAA batteries (not included) and has a simple on and off switch. The battery compartment is secured with a single screw underneath the engine. There is no reverse switch. A nice touch is that the rear carriage is a wood chipper with a rotating drum which moves passively when the train does. Harvey has a crane attached which can swing round but doesn't go up or down and isn't motorised. The set works perfectly with existing Trackmaster train track sets or with many generic wooden or plactic tracks. It only loses a star because it is rather expensive and batteries not included, however it is great fun and my daughter has been playing with it for ages.

I have a nephew who absolutely loves Thomas the Tank Engine. This little Harvey train works perfectly on the Track Master tracks, and the log chopper at the back spins as he gets pulled along by his motor (well, by the 2 AAA batteries powering him, just unscrew the bottom and pop them in). It's easy to be switched on and off with a little switch. The movement really is perfect and just like the show. It's really good quality, and his little crane can be moved back and forth. Our track in particular, annoyingly, Harvey doesn't fit though the tunnel as his crane makes him too tall (much to my nephew's displeasure!) So bear this in mind if you are adding him to a particular track (ours is the runaway one). All in all highly recommended for any young train fan.

I thought it would be bigger, so felt relieved when it came. In a house that you try to keep reasonably clean and tidy, where nieces and nephews visit and want something to play with, while your own kids have grown out if toys as such and are hooked in technology, the last thing you want is having to store bulky toy trucks, trains, doll houses, etc. So...the smaller, the better. This ? definitely ticks that box. It's surprisingly sturdy, given the size and its battery operated, so can move in its own...I already know what's going to happen - auntie me will have to buy more of these to race them on my hardwood floor ???It's great quality though and being Thomas the Tank Engine has a fan base that my little nephew is a member of,thats for sure. Lol.

A lovely toy train, in bright colours as per the photos here. It requires 2 AAA batteries not supplied in the box, easy to put in underneath the train via a screw (using a Phillips screwdriver) the lever on top of the train easily pushes to make the wheels turn. It’s quiet and would go on a track or carpet. My grandson is 4 and will love playing with Runaway Stephen along with his detachable yellow coal truck, and a passenger carriage which has a press button on top to magically put passengers inside or empties the carriage by pressing the button, perfect for little ones imaginations. I’ve added a few photos, I hope my review helps you,I’d happily recommend it as Fisher-Price always make quality toys my own children had over 30 years ago.

This fits on the wooden train track that we already had and the train trundles round the track nicely. It's great when this type of toy (keeps going until turned off) has somewhere to roll around instead of ending up under the sofa.Nia looks great and my son is loving the new characters that have been introduced in the cartoon. One minor fault with our train - there are two pegs on the last carriage that slot in to the elephants feet to keep it on, one of these has snapped off and is stuck in the elephants foot. A lot of the time the elephant over balances and falls out. Doesn't affect my sons enjoyment when playing with the train,I just think it's a bit of a shame.I think that £13.99 for a motorised train is actually quite reasonable.

Pretty cool toy. Kids love Thomas hence why I requested to test this on Vine. I’d say its a little overpriced and would of expected to pay £14.99 for this had I of spent money on it. It is a fair size to be fair though, not like the little wooden set I remember when I was a kid so to show you roughly I have placed an iPhone X next to it for size comparison. The normal strong kind of plastic these sets are made from and I will now hunt down a track ready for when the house has been redecorated. If your kids have a track suitable for this then I’d say they would be over the moon with this for sure.Recommended but hope for others the price drops a couple of £ but the price as is is worth it purelyfor the little ones.....

Delighted with this Nia and the Elephant train, it’s the perfect addition to our family’s Trackmaster sets (see short video of it in action). My dad keeps Trackmaster sets at his house for the grandkids and my daughter (nearly 3) adores them. They’re quite fragile though and need to be played with under supervision as they won’t withstand heavy play, perfect for a grandparents house.Nia is one of the more fun trains for younger children as it has a removable elephant with a head that turns from side to side. The elephant can be clipped back into the carriage so it doesn’t wobble about when it’s on the tracks. It has removable hay bales too. You’ll need 2 x AAA batteries to operate this which aren’t included.

Plenty of features on this little toy. It really is a quality item like all of the trackmaster pieces. Features includeFlip a switch and watch him race forward and tow his cargo cars. While he moves moves forward, his wood chipper spins. Its really cool to see things like this. The phrase. We never had this when we were kids springs to mind. It has a movable crane arm can be turned manually. The train is fully motorized and we are using it with compatible with TrackMaster tracks. Its a smashing addition and my nephew who loves to talk about trains thinks so too.Beware it doesn't come with batteries.Batteries Required: 2 x (AAA (LR03)Alkaline)(not included)But a 5* rating and highly recommended for sure.

My daughter was Thomas mad when she was little, we had to go to see him every time he came to the station near where we lived. She now has a little boy who has just started to play with his toys and Stephen is just the thing. Bright colours, wheels, little passengers and a button to press. I have to say Stephen has gone from my memory bank, we had Thomas and Diesel and I think 2 coaches called Annie and Clarabelle (can't remember) and a few others, Henry comes to mind as being slightly 'cheerful'. If Stephen is a new addition he is very well received and if I have forgotten him I apologise. Great toy and very sturdy, a bit expensive but if it lasts years works out better. You get what you pay for.

When we received this toy my nephew was so excited to play with it he loves trains! I was surprised at how well made it was, with other trains I have bought they break within the day but after a few bumps, this one was in full working order. It does take batteries which I didn't know till reading the instructions inside my son was happily playing with it before I put the batteries in. After the batteries were in the train become even more amazing my son has the Thomas and friends super station and to my surprise, this train went up and down the hills perfectly. kids love the train and is very excited to see it in the new Thomas movie.I would definitely recommend this toy to others it's a 10/10.

This Thomas the Tank Engine (Stephen) toy arrived well packaged and came with two carriages for the train to pull. The colour is bright and vibrant and the plastic seems to be of good quality, with nice seals between the joints and surfaces. This requires batteries to work, so make sure you get some in ready. This can be used on the Master Track system that Thomas the Tank Engine make and the passenger carriage has a nice feature where you can push a button on top and 'drop' the passengers off and then pick them up again afterwards. This is a fun set that can be used with existing Master Track systems and if you are a fan of Thomas the Tanks engine, this will be right up your street/track!
