Well, at first I was reading the reviews on here, and finding that people were criticising the punch control and the playability of Fight Night: Champion and saying that Fight Night Round 4 was better, I was initially reluctant to get this new Fight Night. Then I checked online reviews from which gave critics' opinions across many PS3 Magazines and they were overall very pleased and praising the game, and it scored average 8.5 out of 10 over about 10-11 different magazines from the harshest critics, so I thought 'Yes, I will get it now'.When loading it up, I found the presentation was beautiful and done excellently - beautiful graphics - superseding FNR4.Onto the playability,I launched straight into Legacy Mode: creating my own fighter, and this is where I found the frustration of the controls - for some strange reason, playing with the total punch control WHY oh Why does my fighter keep throwing illegal low-blows so often thereby disqualifying me, and I swear I am actually being careful with the control. And it did take a little while to get used to the change of control system to move my fighter sideways, as I was taking too much punishment going forward instead of moving laterally.Still, frustration initially aside and playing for some 3 hours, and taking great care to push the joystick upwards instead of throwing low punches, I started to get into the game, maybe I cranked down from Pro to Amateur difficulty possibly? (Wasn't sure on career mode) but now I seem to be getting success and knocking out my early opponents bringing me satisfaction similar to playing career in FNR4 and the control is getting better and more intuitive - what I DO like is the buttons that give the haymaker punches etc, and the better flurries and jabs - the control system is intuitive and it feels less clumsy to throw punches, but more instinctive than FNR4 (though some will disagree). Since I played FNR4 to death in Career mode (and absolutely loved this game), I can see Champion is getting better and I am starting to get used to it, and the old EA Boxing magic seems to somehow be returning again. I think what the underlining message here is, once you get used to it, and understand that you have to understand the Sweet Science of boxing and that it takes intelligence to fight smarter and adapt to different opponents, then you start getting the results.

There is a lot to love here:Pros- Graphics are beautiful, especially the close up slow-mo's when you nail the knockdown- Champion mode is very engaging and plays like a Hollywood movie with each fight having certain perks such as only using one hand cz the other is broken or sending a statement and having to win my knockout in the first round- Good roster of fighters from the classics Ali, Tyson and Sugar-Ray to the more recent David HayeCons- Champion mode is very short, took me 4 hours to finish it which is around 12 fights.- The difficulty is pretty standard with the exception of the last fight in Champion mode, I went though every fight winning first time and when it got to the final fight with Isaac Frost, took me 13 attempts to beat him because he is godly. You have to run away for 2 rounds, then land so many body punches, then not get hit for 2 rounds etc. You can't win until at least round 8 and gets very frustrating as it takes all realism out of it.- Legacy mode is just tedious and despite being "completely overhauled" is essentially the same as the other Fight Night titles. Additionally, training is very hard.- Unless you buy it new and activate the online pass, you can't play online so the shelf life of this game dies quickly unless you have 2 controllers and a friend to fight.SummaryChampion mode was good fun but once finished there is not much to do other than online as legacy mode just seems too tiresome to complete. Good boxing title but unless bought new only has 4 hours of gameplay

These type of games have never really drawn me in but i followed a friends advice and downloaded the demo. At first I was a little unsure if i liked the game but after a couple of hrs of playing decided to buy the full game. Well all I can say is a really do like it.The champion mode is a little controlled in the fact that you have to fight certain ways at certain points but that was still entertaining trying to knock opponents out only using one hand. The end of this mode is a complete dog though and took at least 15 attempts to finally become triumphant, spending lots of time swearing at the screen.Playing legacy has been great fun and although I am no way near winning the title it has drawnme in completely and I notice there are similarities to the UFC game with regard to planning fights, training and sponsor events. (not sure who came up with it first)I have not played onine very much but have not noticed much lag (which was always a pain in UFC). But i love the fact that you can save some of your greatest knockouts and share with the world. Undoubtedly I will be mostly the victim and not the victor. The only thing that does hold this back is the replicated commentaries and the slow loading times. All in a great game deserving a solid 4*

Interesting reviews on this one; lots of different opinions, especially on the control system.I think the control system is good once you get used to it and it's very easy to pick your punches and throw combinations. Also easier to counter-punch with accuracy which is brilliant. There have have been a few comments on the lack of the power-punch and I must agree; the replacement system does seem pointless as it has no more effect than a regular punch.Overall I think this is an improvement on FN4. Graphics are better, the damage is better and more realistic and, as I said, I think the control system is much better. The only thing stopping this being 5-star, in my opinion,is the missing boxers from both today and yester-year (a poor reason, I know!).Its doubtful whether Floyd Mayweather Jr & Manny Pacquaio will ever get it on in the real world so creating the match here would have been nice. Sergio Martinez and Amir Khan would have been good too as would Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Prince Naseem and Benn & Eubank.Good game though; lots of fun and a lots of control.Ps - Anybody know why some of the big boxers like Mayweather and Martinez aren't featured? Is it something to do with licenses?

This game is an absolute classic. I started playing it just after Christmas; and just cannot stop playing it. For £15.00 it is an absolute 'steal'. Do NOT hesitate. Just simply buy this game.Being a boxing fan, I have to say the characters are plentiful and realistic. The full-spectrum punch control is accurate, challenging but mirrors almost every punch/combination possible. The champion mode is absolutely fantastic. Realistic and with great variety all the way through- fighting through various levels from prison-amateur- world champion. However, even without the ethernet connection, I am hooked on the legacy mode. You can pick, edit and devedlop through skills and sparring training any boxer on the game (or create your own). You can train them, select fights for them, training camps, events and boxer growth. It is very realistics how you earn cash and points and work your way up from gym fighting to professional. Also the amateur tournament at the start is fantastic and highly realistic.Absolutely finely produced sports game...!! Cannot complain. Knocks FIFA 12 out of the water...!!!

OK well here is the start to my review for fight night champion ps3,the game is really good graphics are stunning and the game has a lot of positives like the new champion mode which is a story about Andre bishop fighting his way up the ladder like any other contender except there is a twist and I wont ruin it for you. legacy mode can also be fun with the training games on it. online is great with its competitive fights Between other gamers. and see if you have what it takes to be the world champ. the game also is rated 16+ and is definitely more realistic than fight night round 4, this enables blood affects you get more of a thrill.one thing I am upset about this game and which is stopping me from giving it a 5star rating is my favourite heavyweight boxer (ROCKY MARCIANO) is not featured on this game now any true boxing fan knows that he is the greatest UNDEFEATED CHAMP!!! unlike Muhammad Ali who is an over rated boxer! if Rocky Marciano was featured in this game then I would give it 5 stars!!!!!!!

I've had this for a long time now and I do see myself play it from time to time. It isn't one that goes on the bottom of the pile or exchanged/sold at a game shop. The gameplay has massively improved from previous versions and the stamina bar really makes the game alot more tactical. Its not like a wii version of boxing. The graphics are still great and the counters are brilliant. The single player tournament is fantastic. The storyline and cut scenes are wonderful and feel real, could easily be made into a film. You play as a boxer who moves from different weights and goes through alot, from training gyms to prison to broken hands and bribed judges. It may start off easy but the difficulty increases and the last fight you may spend hours completing. The two player is fantastic and great fun to play with friends.

I pre ordered fight night Champion in hope it will be better than FNR4. I do think it' slightly better but not by much.First of all, you can use buttons to punch, which is a great addition. I didn't like analogue system. But there's a problem. You would press for it to do one hook, but it'll do two. This causes Stamina loss which is very annoying.Problem 2 is the AI. All they want to do is slug it out with me. They just push forward throwing hooks and uppercuts, and it gets repetitive. I like to jab a lot, but i can't, and i am forced to slug it out with the AI.Champion mode is good, but it's too short. It means a lack of off-line playing time.Overall i give this game 4*, because it's a good game, but not as good as i expected

At this time the only boxing game worth playing on modern consols. The graphics and sound are very good for last gen consols. Gameplay is actually very deep for a boxing game. The game is overall very balanced however it is not perfect there is an element of repetition but it is difficult to get the right technique to do well. It can reward a more patient style of play which does not suit some people. The game has varied opponents, with a few notable exceptions, and has enough options and online gameplay to remain playable for an extended period. I have played this game periodically now for more than 4 years and always go back to a hearns vs haggler match with a friend.Buy with a friend and have a better time with it.

as all of you guys would know, EA have well known for producing quality sports titles and they have always produced top notch games.its the first time the producers have introduced a story driven mode more known as "champion mode" which might give some people like myself to pick up the gamethe presentation is very slick, the best in a sports title up to date. the character models look great, the 50 fighters in the roster give enough variety to keep players satisfied.THE BOTTOM LINE: FIGHT NIGHT OVER THE YEARS HAS HAD ITS UPS AND DOWNS, ITS VERY SIMILAR TO FNR4, BUT VERY WELL REFINED WITH A EXCELLENT CONTROL SYSTEM, GREAT ONLINE GAMEPLAY AND A STORY DRIVEN MODE, WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR IN A BOXING TITLE?(9/10)

Great game, have had it for a few weeks now and still i'm addicted. Legacy mode is Stirling as usual, although after time i guess plodding your boxer down the same path; training with the same mini games could get tedious, but it still has great re-playability.On-line is great too, which made this game 5* for me because you can take your legacy mode boxer into a whole new experience and gameplay.Graphics are stunning and i LOVE the replay action on your bone-crunching knock-outs! Amazing game, and for the Amazon price it is a must have

15.5.2011

Good game theres a great story to the champion mode and then theres legacy mode which is great you can creat your own boxer and train him to work on his strengh, speed, endurance ect. you can get sponsers and sufur from injuries which is great. The graphics are great you can see there muscles tense when they throw a punch and when you knock someone out it plays it back in slow-mo and you can see blood and sweet spray off there head which is cool. Its a good game i recommend it.

12.4.2013

The only quirks are the fact I can't see me or my opponents full fight history in the game and can't change my style mid way through in legacy mode, rocky did why can't I plus you don't get to sort out your own calendar e.g. When to fight, how many training sessions you have, but it's a step up from the last instalment near perfect love this game UFC can suck eggs

2.5.2013

Dont know why people are complaining, this game is brilliant. Please do not listen to the people that gave it bad ratings, Its actually really good. Its probably too hard for the people complaining. This game can get hard exp against Issac Frost. But its really fun and its realistic, graphics are great and there is a large set of boxers to choose from. Great Game

I started to play the demo for this game a little while back and I was instantly hooked! The fighting goes down to a very deep level and the legacy mode, which is a kind of career mode thing, is very very rewarding and fun. I would definitely recommend buying this game. ESPECIALLY if you haven't bought a Fight Night before.
