This game is essentially a remake of the 2008 DS game. It's a modern remake of a fantastic dungeon crawler, with lots to explore and do, all set in the style of a sweet JRPG story.When you start, you can either choose Classic Mode (the original format) or Story Mode, which incorporates new characters and a new starting point in the original story. Classic mode allows you to customise your own team, whereas story mode is set up with teams assigned, so the character development is already defined. Either choice works well and entirely depends on your playing style.The story modes may be a little different, but Etrian Odyssey’s celebrated dungeon exploration is the same, and I’m happy to report there’s a lot of it.

This is a great dungeon crawler. It can be very unforgiving, and grinding is necessary. I ended up burning ~100 hours in this game without purchasing and DLC.The battle system is the standard turn based one, but there is so much complexity involved with all of the classes/jobs to chose from and their abilities.Level up through skill trees, each class has it's own tree. I really like the Grimoire system where (mainly during combat) you can find a stone containing the ability of the enemy or an ally, and can equip these stones to give a broad array of abilities or concentrate on strengthening an existing one.As I mentioned the difficulty is set very high.

Incredible game, best of series so far. The introduction of grimoire stones into these recent titles really opens up the options to the user and makes for some great battles. Music is grand as usual and gameplay is as usual geared towards level grinding characters up and prestiging them via the retire function. There is the option of choosing between story and classic mode at the start which is very useful. Really refreshing game, plenty of characters to choose from and the boss battles have all been engaging so far. Would highly recommend this title to RPG fans.

This game is amazing, I've only recently played Etryianian Odyssey 1 having got hold of a second hand copy. But I think EO2 is even better than the first as it seems more intuitive, user friendly and more engaging. I love making the maps, exploring, the story line and also how the characters do have very different skills & personalities. Thanks to those who confirmed it's a PAL version, glad I got it!

I find these games really hard but I cant stop getting them, the style and the gameplay is addictive. Just dont expect a easy game, the game is fair but only as long as you dont go too far too fast!

Got this for my 12 year old daughter. She liked detsiled graphics and the storyline and the way the game chanes at each level
