With the relatively, (some might say 'exorbitantly') high prices of genuine original manufacturer's inkjet cartridges, it might be very tempting and seemingly obvious, to opt for the very much cheaper, so called 'compatible' versions. Indeed, I would be very high on the list of those who decry the ridiculously high prices manufacturers charge for their own brand originals. With the seemingly artificially low prices of most manufacturer's printers, particularly those in the lower price ranges, it might be reasonable to suspect that Messrs Epson, Canon, HP and Lexmark etc, are using their budget and lower mid-range printers and multi-function units as loss leaders; potentially sucking in new customers with artificially low prices for new hardware, simply to claw it all back (and some!) through the ultra high prices they charge for their branded inkjet cartridges and paper. My personal assumption of this is that they almost certainly are doing exactly that. So, it might therefore seem that moving over to the considerably cheaper compatible cartridges is virtually a 'no brainer' (an obvious choice) but, is it?Having been the owner of at least ten Epson inkjet printers over the years, plus two Canon ones and one HP, I have succumbed to the temptation to use cheap compatible cartridges on three occasions in the past. Each however, turned out to be a bad decision and on at least two occasions, a fairly costly one.Despite the strongly advertised promises made by the various manufacturers of compatible inkjet cartridges that, for example, "they meet or exceed the specifications of original cartridges" or "produce identical results" etc, etc, I have simply NEVER found such promises to be true.In my experience over many years, I have not found any compatible cartridges to produce results as good as those from originals and in fact, simply exchanging any one of the eight original cartridges in my Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer, immediately results in very obviously sub-standard print quality, often combined with colour matching from that which had previously produced a perfect match every time, to what I could see on my monitor to that of the finished print, being thrown completely awry the minute just one single cartridge was swapped for a compatible. This results in needless continuous, endless and usually completely fruitless colour adjustments while trying to correct the imbalance, in turn, resulting in a massive waste of printing paper, ink and of course......MONEY!Even when used on my 'everyday' basic printers, compatibles simply don't produce the goods. Colour balance may be all over the place or at best, not as accurate as when using original cartridges. In some cases, I have experienced 'runs' where too much ink seems to be laid down and worse, far more incidents of blocked printer heads, often proving quite stubborn to clean effectively.Furthermore, I am convinced that I have in the past had two of my printers completely ruined by the use of compatible inkjet cartridges. One reached the 'end of it's serviceable life' and required replacing, even though it had actually been used far less than one might expect; although it had seemed to continuously require blocked print heads to be cleaned and another, on which the pad that soaks up excess ink whenever head cleaning is carried out, becoming completely (and I 'do' mean COMPLETELY) saturated in ink, which again, rendered the printer effectively beyond repair.I have never experienced any such problems with original manufacturer's inkjet cartridges and always get perfect and consistent colour balance. I cannot recall the last time I had to undertake a head cleaning cycle and my Epson printers continue to provide perfect and reliable service when using manufacturer's original ink sets.Consistent with all my past experiences of using inkjet cartridges, I find the Epson Durabrite T1285 Fox Genuine Multipack ink set to be brilliant and, the ONLY cartridges I will EVER use with my current budget 'everyday' Epson printer. Not just 'recommended' but absolutely ESSENTIAL in my opinion.

OK, genuine Epson cartridges do tend to look expensive when compared to third party compatibles; however I take a different view for two reasons:- when used with genuine Epson paper the results, especially with these wax based inks for full colour photos can only be described as being superb (I have used compatibles before and found the colours to be less than brilliant)- I have had to replace my printer several times due to clogged heads (a replacement printer is cheaper than a repair) and every single time it has been with compatible cartridges in place. Some people complain about the price of genuine cartridges and say that the printer manufacturers are exploiting us with high prices forcartiridges; but surely everyone must know by now that the price of cartridges subsidises cheaper printers in the first place.Based on that, I still recommend only the genuine cartridges.(For info, I neither work for Epson, nor any company that has any commercial interest in Epson)

Been using compatible cartridges for a couple of years to save money etc and printer stopped working after no warning. Black ink smudged across page and incomplete lines on head output. Bought some new compatibles from ASDA but no improvement. In fact, printer displayed it could not recognise cartridges despite being brand new. Decided to try original epson cartridges as had read that only originals will work properly, before i thought about investing in a new printer. Glad I bought these epson cartridges as computer worked straight away and print out quality perfect. Will definitely buy these again as well priced for just below £30 compared to most other online vendors.I won't be using compatibles again - its not worth the hassle or money as its a gamble if they work or not!Items were individually packaged - had read other customers not getting this but was not the case for me.

I want another set of Epson inks or my £ 34.68p returned to me, This is a lot of money to loose. I have now opened the other 3 colours as afraid they will be empty also.I cannot find the Amazon address any where, it's impossible 7 completely time wasting. I want a return slip from amazon to replace my ink or money returned to me.I am waiting there reply sincerely rose

I bought these after finding that the 16 compatible inks I had bought for my new SX235w would not work. I presume this is Epson updating their printers to not work with compatibles which I find very annoying. Just bought these, simply moved the carriage along and put them in. The printer immediately recognised them. I've heard about people having problems with the amount of ink in these. I have had no problems and after printing 3 pages of photos on photo paper and a couple pages of a printed Powerpoint, Only a small amount of Magenta and Black have been used. These are great cartridges, If however you're going to be printing LOTS,I would recommend going for the Apple inks as they have more in them.

I have one issue with this product... I wish each one held more ink. My computer won't recognise anything but Epson ink and I do find that it's cheaper to get my photo's printed elsewhere and I use my own ink now for emergency pictures and writing. I think ink cartridges are over-priced and that something should be done about that. I look for cartridges packed like this since I've had a few that weren't and my printer rejected it, not recognising it as an Epson product. Can't afford to just throw them away. Prices vary for the same product, so be aware. The results for colour are very good and I'm very fussy about that.

Great value for money. Excellent quality. All installed and worked immediately. However, don't mix compatible with these genuine cartridges as the printer doesn't recognise them and they won't work. You must install either all compatible or all genuine. Black cartridge ran out fairly quickly though so you will need to order at least two black cartridges to one of each colour. I am about to order two more black cartridges but haven't yet changed the colour cartridges. Hopefully, this will enable my printer to keep working until I need to replace the colour cartridges. Would definitely buy them again though.

I needed these in an emergency when one of the compatible cartridges I was using in my printer gave up and I was printing on a Sunday.Argos was the cheapest I could find to collect immediately, even after an online discount from a supplier who could deliver next day.I will continue to use compatible cartridges for economy, but have learned my lesson and will keep an original of each cartridge for emergency use.All in all, they are printer ink cartridges and did what they had to!

Having used an Epson printer for years and having tried all sorts of substitutes which have all given problems of one sort or another I bought these. They work, they have lasted a long time and they are still going. I have some substitutes still and I intend to try one more method to get the printer to recognise them by replacing the chips on the substitute the chips from the genuine ones.I understand that this works - - we shall see - - but I shall buy Epson from now on.

Anyone wanting replacement cartridges for their compatible printer these are great! We saved over £10 just by buying them online. We had been using a different printer with the all in one cartridges which were £17.99 for the black and around £27 for the coloured one. For some reason I always ended up with yellow left over! As these are individual you use the ones in the multi pack first then reach them one at a time as you run out. This saves even more money!

I have owned many Epson Printers over the last 35 years. They are under priced to sell. Unfortunately as a loss leader it is necessary to recoup the research costs over time by an extra charge levied for inks. They have a very clever inbuilt electronic code to foil attempts to refill or use spurious inks. As a product they are very good, giving clear crisp authentic colours which, taken to the extreme, I have not found better quality of reproduction.

I have always used original cartidges for my Epson printer, and when you get them at a great price from amazon its all the more worthwhile. The cartridges have lasted for a while and the SX125 also mixes the remaining 3 colours should the black go to low. I have noticed a quality difference between non genuine and genuine, and the original suffers less bleed and less saturated colours than non genuine..oh and it wont ruin your printer either.

These are great inks they give a good quality professional finish on paper, card and photographic papers. It is good you only have to replace one cartridge if you are using a lot of that colour, easy to change/fit but overall ink does not last very long. I do not print that much and this is the third pack I have bought in the past four months so would like to see a higher yeild option - we are supposed to be cutting back on waste!

26.9.2013

My printing is mostly photographs so I need good quality cartridges to get the finish I require, and the Epson cartridges (and printer) suit the purpose admirably, and at the price offered, they couldn't go wrong.Even though my order took several more days to arrive after the day expected, I feel this was more probably due to local postal service that delay in despatch and I'll certainly not hesitate to send further orders .

As I don't use my printer very often (maybe once a week or less) I found that the cheap refill type ink cartridges tended to dry up with low use needing regular print head cleaning which uses loads of ink. Found it to be a false economy as well as a pain when in a hurry!Update: Found it almost as cheap to buy a new printer (on offer) with "starter" cartridges than just replace the ink cartridges. Bought a Canon Pixma now!
