Looks great, glass shade is heavy and that swirly pattern looks even better than the photo. We used a Philips LED E27 8w frosted bulb which is plenty bright enough and uses much less juice than normal energy-saving bulb - and looks good. Because the shade is translucent you get enough light above to avoid a dark ceiling, which I'd been a bit concerned about. Even if you bring the light down you won't need extra room lighting. The wooden collar above the shade looks good and the ceiling fitting is a flexible plastic. This means you can screw it up tight to the ceiling but it's easy to unscrew again if you need to adjust the tension of the rise and fall mechanism (which you do by turning a tensioner,

This is a terrific lamp which is adjustable by just gently pulling down or pushing up, the effect of which is to change how the light falls over a table or in a hallway (for example). The glass is nice quality and it is easy to use with none of the usual wheels and ropes to fiddle with. I have mine on the landing over the stairs, and I lower the light so as to mostly shine downstairs. Very happy with my purchase.
