When I first saw this product on Amazon I was rather sceptical that these lightbulbs actually give daylight type light at only 20 watts. But to my surprise they actually do give a proper white light like daylight when I first bought one of these bulbs are put in the living room. In the living room is the only room we do not have energy-saving lightbulbs we have the normal candle bulbs because they give a better light than the energy-saving ones. When I got this daylight bulb I removed one of the candle bulbs and put this bulb in its place. When I switch the light from the daylight bulb give off a brilliant white light the other two candle bulbs with giving off a orangey yellow light which was not noticeable before.The daylight bulb uses 20 watts of electric and the candle bulbs use 60 watt electric but the daylight bulb does seem brighter. This could just because it is a white light given the effect of being brighter but I am more than happy with this bulb.Advantagesgive off a bright white lightonly usually 20 W of electricdisadvantagesthese bulbs are expensivenot quite as energy efficient as the energy-efficient bulbsThese bulbs are not ideal for every room and are way too expensive to put them in every room. If you want a nice white more natural light in your room this bulb is ideal but they are quite expensive. So you have to make the decision if the extra cost is worth the better lighting.

This light bulb is a lot like daylight, it is good and bright, but not overwhelmingly bright. I have this bulb in the ceiling light. If I have it turned on with the curtains open, it feels like there is another small window in the ceiling, it I that much like daylight.At night, is a good bright light and much easier to read by than other normal light bulbs. However it is not bright enough to fool you into feeling like it is day time, I think you would need a good few of them to have that effect. I find it will keep me awake longer than normal if I use it late at night. It makes all other light bulbs look really yellow, but is not harsh like a white LED light.I really like it,my room is very dark because it does not get much sun and it has definitely reduced my eye strain and meant that I don't need to have all 4 lights on at once all the time.Update 11 Jan 2013. I bought this bulb in Nov 2011 and it is still going strong. I am quite impressed with that. It is not the cheapest of bulbs, so have not been looking forward to replacing it, but also wouldn't want to do without it either. A couple of people who have seen it could not tolerate it, they found it too odd and I had to turn it off. Apart from that everything has been great.

Suffering from winter blues I feel sleepy and lethargic as soon as the sun dips low in the sky, or even on cloudy days, so I trawled the web for something to supplement my lightbox therapy and found these. I didn't know if they would work but thought it worth a try. And work they do!I have three in our living area, a central light fitting, and one in my office. The light is clear, white and very bright. As I write it is early on a dark November morning and the bright light in this office is cheering, chasing away the winter gloom outside. My son visited last week and said the house, from the outside and with closed curtains, looked as though aliens had landed!I can't comment on the longevity of the product,I've only had them a month, but even if they don't last as long as advertised I will still consider it money well spent. My only quibbles are only being able to buy five from Amazon and being a little too large for my central light fitting; they hang quite a way down. These aren't a fault of the product though, and the light fitting will go though before the bulbs do!

I always have used "normal" warm coloured energy saving bulbs and was really sceptical that a colder light would work for me. One of the major selling points for this bulb was that it would help someone with S.A.D.S which is Seasonal Affective Disorder which is a depressive condition associated with the seasons. I thought this would be nice as I do noticeably have a mood change when the mornings get darker and I do stay up late playing games so it was worth a try to see if it would change anything.The first thing you'll notice is how strong the light is. Shadows are eliminated and while outside is pitch black, your room is bright white as if it was a bright summers day outside.You stopped getting shocked at the cold light after a week or so then it becomes normal and warmer lights in other rooms seem odd, so i'd suggest cold lights all round.Overall the bulb is great, the cold light is a much better way to light things up for me, as in my kitchen its easier to spot dirt, and in my room is nice to write on paper in this light. Price needs work though.

Lasted 5 years, it's not often I have an intense fondness for an everyday banal item like a light bulb but having felt that winters were hitting me harder than ever and just a typical S.A.D misery I decided to buy either this or one of those lamps but this was much cheaper and I paid £10 for it back then. It just fizzled out today sadly, a good soldier gone in my S.A.D war so naturally I went on here to see how long it lasted and to order it again. 5 full years without a flicker except when power is dodgy during windy power cut prone times.Everyone comments how bright my room looks and from the outside it looks like I'm growing illegal plants but it vastly improved my symptoms,made my room so much brighter and clearer with a nice white light and I look forward to my next one arriving. I absolutely love this bulb and I'm not even joking. It's half the price I paid for it now at only a fiver. Excellent value I'd say, I hope this one lasts as long.

Wanted a good daylight bulb for use indoors (obviously!!) for my art work on dull days and at night. It works a treat. Gives a good clear white light. Not cheap but it is supposed to be energy-saving and long life. Having just bought it, I shall have to wait and see about that. I've put mine in an angle-poise type lamp which I've sited on the window sill above my desk so that it illuminates my art work well but is out of the way. There isn't a problem with glare.These bulbs come in a variety of fittings and wattage. My lamp takes a standard size bayonet fitting but there are screw fittings as well. I wasn't sure which wattage to get so looked up online what the equivalent was for an old-type 60 watt bulb.The spiral design means it is fairly compact but it does protrude slightly below the shade. I don't find this a problem.I would recommend it. It arrived promptly - in fact, well before the estimated date- and was well packed.

This bulb is fantastic. Not everyone suffers with serious SAD in the winter, but everyone definitely gets the blues on with dark mornings, evenings and gloomy daytimes so this is a real boon. You'll be in a room with it on and think you should be outside enjoying the sunshine, only to look outside and realise it's dark and miserable because the light is so natural you forget you've got it on! Great if you set it on a timer and put it in your bedroom to come on just before your alarm goes off - helps with the winter blues that make you just want to stay in bed because it's so dark - also much cheaper than the specialist SAD alarm clocks which are very expensive, the only difference being they gradually increase the light.Great for reading by as it's a very white light and so emphasises the contrast of the letters against the page, without being stark or cold. You will believe this is daylight I guarantee it.

this is a brilliant peice of new age lighting technology, much better than the yellow lights of the previous generation of energy savers, as one white light is equal to that of 8 previous generation yellow energy saver lights.it takes a week to get used to, as one is used to the yellow lighting that they have now, but looking at my electirc bills, i save a fortune compared to my last bill, as all my lights afre now white energy savers,more xmas shopping this year i say...or even another holiday!brilliant for reading writing, cooking and even general chilling, works well with a bedside lamp if its to bight or u,as the shade of the lamp will block out the bright center giving a nice white glow to one part of ur roommood deffo ffeels better around the house and family

I bought this bulb to fit in a ceiling light above the dining room table. It's where my son does his homework and I do quite a lot of work on my laptop, and I thought the previous light was too dim.Although it's not cheap it is a power saving model and it should have a long operational life.So what's the light from it like? Well, it's very white - it seems brighter than it's rated, if that makes sense. When you're used to the yellowish tinge of other light bulbs then it takes a little getting used to. It definitely makes it more pleasant to read at the table and the colours of things on the table and even on my laptop screen seem more real.So it gets 5 stars for now but I will amend this reviewif I have any problems with it.

After the first half an hour in front of this very bright bulb, I felt a little energized. This is my third day, using it for half an hour just after waking and again a little after sunset, and I have a normal amount of energy again! I'm able to cope with daily tasks like dishes and laundry. I didn't really think a light could make this much difference in my energy levels, but it has! I sit less than a meter from it, not looking directly at it but letting it shine fairly directly on my face. It is a real bargain to finally feel normal for so little money!The only drawback for me was that it was too fat to install into the lamp I had planned,but that's the fault of the skinny lamp and not the bulb!

So far so good. Bought this bulb a good few months back and we haven't had any issues at all. It takes a few minutes for it to get to its full light capacity but that's to be expected with an energy bulb. The main reason for purchase was to have a daylight bulb so that I could edit photos on my computer in the evenings, without much change in light temperature from that of daylight - 'normal' bulbs are waaaay too yellow! Does the job perfectly. For me personally, it is also much less oppressive than a standard 'yellow' bulb.

Really bright! I was looking for a bulb to replace the previous warm energy saving bulb in my bedroom. I needed a bulb suitable for studying in an bright environment with colours as more natural than as possible. This item is definitely the best solution for this purpose.Cheap and delivered on time, I have been using it for 1 month and so far no issue at all.I believe that you cannot find any other bulb with the same value for money.Highly recommended

Our new house had old style filament bulbs - huge drain on electricity. So, we decided to replace them with energy saving bulbs. I don't like the yellowish warm light bulbs that we get in supermarkets in here. We bought 2 initially about a month ago. I cant fault the colour - perfect white light. One of the bulbs started flickering after 3 weeks, so I had to return it back to Amazon. Got my replacement next day. Both going strong now.

I've upgraded most of the bulbs in my house with these Ecozone daylight bulbs. I hate the "warm" glow typical CFL bulbs give off, so I was pleasantly surprised by the whiteness emitted by these ones. I think the first one I fitted in my home was around a year or two ago and it's still going strong. In fact, I'd say these bulbs are more reliable (and light up quicker) than some of the branded CFLs you find in the shops!

This bulb is really great, after talking to my roommates about how much I paid for it they scoffed and said you can get energy saving bulbs for a quid in the local poundshop. I tried one of them out but it was a horrible dim yellow light that it gave off.The light that this bulb gives of is a crisp white light and in a white room makes you feel like you are in a hospital or something, it just makes you feel good!
