The first thing that hit me was: 800x600. What an improvement on 640x480! It also means that using the Amazon is a viable option as you can see far enough to use distance attacks now. You don't really notice the higher resolution otherwise, until you go to Act V when you see that it was definitely designed for that resolution. The next thing I noticed was... ohmygod the music is fabulous. They hired the Slovac Radio Symphony Orchestra to record the new tracks and they're so much better than the original Diablo II soundtrack - which was pretty good but just not in the same league as the new set. Next thing; the intro screens are changed, nothing special there. The two new character classes are extremely evident even if you don't choose one,in that when you pick up items around the maps there is a new section of information on some of them - character specific items! This drove me nuts for hours on Sunday when I was trying to find a socketed shield for my necromancer and all I kept getting were beautiful, quadruple socketed shields that were paladin specific! Argh! There are new items and, even better, new socketing items - runes and jewels. Runes, jewels and charms are nice and there are some fabulous new Horadric recipes! Charms are a pain as they have to be kept in your inventory to have effect. Runes appear to be better than gems for certain effects. Rune words are disabled, bar one, unless you are playing on Battlenet which is a bit of a let down. Items and gems are far more plentiful in the maps and the kills are more generous - on killing the Countess on nightmare level, I got well over 22K in gold, plus 5 magical items!Having a level 39 Necromancer, I breezed through Act V on normal level and once I was through two acts on nightmare, I'd gone up to level 46. It seems to be easier, in places, plus with the extra generosity in items and gold, I've amassed 1.2 million in gold in my stash and another 500K on my character. Thing is, there's nothing to spend it on!The hirelings are greatly improved too. You can get them resurrected if they die and, even better, you can give them armour, helmet, shield and weaponry. (Though, when I'd put a perfect topaz into a socketed sword for my barbarian hireling, he didn't seem to get the lightning damage that it had added to the weapon. Still, my barbarian side-kick kicks ass and is even wearing armour that has a defence rating 4x that of the armour my necromancer is wearing! The stash size is doubled, which is great news for those of use who store huge amounts of crap in there "just in case". Also, the characters can wear two sets of weaponry and hot swap between them during the game - giving you the possiblity of carrying different sets to deal with different types of bad guy.Of course, even if you've completed the whole game on "hell" level, there's all of Act V at each difficulty to explore, plus the huge number of new items and the two new character classes. Hours, days, weeks, months even of mileage in the game now that the expansion pack is there!

To start off with, the 'Lord of Destruction' expansion pack for Diablo 2 does a good job with keeping the game's whole storyline flowing and bringing it to a decent, understandable ending. Most of the noticeable improvements from the original are obviously aimed at the hardcore players of Diablo 2 like myself so therefore they seem very good. One of the main additions to the game would be the inclusion of 2 further characters. Neither one is ground breaking but they are both interesting in their own way. Firstly there is the assassin, she focuses on close combat and has a martial art element to her. With the assassin comes some new class specific weapons to the game- claws, katars and even some set items are all now found in the game. Then there is the druid, a summoner who uses nature at his aid- his spells/ skills include being able to summon ravens and wolves and even being able to shape shift into a giant grizzly bear in order to fight in that animal form, these are nice extras in my opinion. The druid, like the assassin comes with a nice selection of class specific items mostly in the sector of helms. With the conclusion of the storyline comes a further, final act to be able to do so. This is where you must kill Baal, an even more deadly opponent than Diablo. With Act 5 comes improved environments, more quests and a larger variety of enemy beasts. An other nice add-on is the enhanced graphics for the game, Diablo is now able to run at a higher resolution hence making everything look a lot prettier and more colourful. All gamers should be able to notice this and appreciate the graphical improvements. There are so many improvements to the gameplay which come in many factors. To start with your personal stash is considerably larger, making you able to hold a lot more equipment. The stash enlargement could be because there are so many new items for the game- set items, unique weapons, rune stones and even charms have been incorporated to the all so popular Diablo formula. Rune stones share a resemblance to gems in the retrospect that they both are used in socketed items, where you imrove the statistics for certain socketed items. Charms are items which are needed to stay in your inventory to improve your character statistics such as your defense, attack rating and even chance of finding magic items. As a whole, the expansion to such an intense game will eat up even more of your time and take away so much time needed for sleep than before. So if you don't like the idea of spending hours of time on this then I suggest that you give this game a miss.'Lord of Destruction' continues the Diablo legacy in true class and quality.95/100

If your serious about RPG's and action/adventure games and you own a PC then you have to do yourself justice by buying this game, it's a simple as that. Although the gamplay may seem repetative and killing hordes upon horeds of monsters seems boring it isn't. Simple gameplay makes this game into a masterpiece. The main aim of this game is to rome around baorn deserts; dark jungles and high mountains in oder to ultimately destroy the Lords of Hate, Terror and Destruction. Due to the add on pack players will now have the oppurtunity to play as two new fantastic charcters in the new 800 by 600 resolution; battling ultimately to destroy Baal the Lord of Destruction. The new characters are unique,as are the items that will be needed to be collected to aid them which have been added in this expansion set. Take my advice buy this game play it online and enjoy every momment of it.

When I first got this game I could'nt wait to play it and when I did I was surprized. The graphics are amazing and are rich and smooth, unlike the sharp jerky graphics from the previous one. The play ability is great and allows you to have complete control over all you do. Though this is a complex game you'll soon get the hang of it. The story line continues from the previous games and is still as involved and good as them. the down side to this game is that it can take you a good week to completwe the introduction part of this game as it is the same with all RPG's. To get the most out of this game you will need a good fast computer with a decent graphics card, because you'll need this to get the most out of the video scenes that are seamlessly integrated into gameplay. So if you havent bought this game BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Normaly when you see a new add-on you think couple of new levels and new items and essentially thats all this is but with the extra act in this case and thousands of new weapons comes a whole new depth to an already established game. It seems as blizzard did with brood wars (the starcraft expansion) they have listened to almost all of the critcisms leveled at the original and have changed them for the better. Increase stash size, 2 new character classes and if you haven't updated a changed interface and modified skills as blizzard constantly try to make the game more balenced and more fun. If your looking for an RPG then buy balders gate 2 but for pure fun hack and slash there is no better.Blizzard couldn't have made a better expansion!!

The Diablo II Expansion set is by far an improvement. You get twice the space in your personal stash, two awesome new character classes, and a whole new act. The Druid and Assassin, the new classes, are unfair when compared to the original five classes. The Druid can easily beat the best of warriors, especially after assuming werewolf or werebear form! And the Assassin wields deadl claw blaeds, and her charge up skills allow for awesome finishing moves, heavily damaging the toughest of foes. She doesn't even need keys; she can pick locks! I've also noticed you tend to find more gems, magic items, and money. All in all, the expansion set adds so much fun onto the original,it would be stupid to not get it.

Diablo II was a great game when it first appeared early in the millenium, but this additional expansion gives more gameplay and replay value. Anyone who likes RPG's will get a great experience from either Diablo II or Lords of Destruction. The only drawback being its exclusive to PC, Diablo II is a challenging and engaging game even today. Hopefully Diablo III will continue in this vein and be out in 2012. Blizzard have even been looking to hire a developer with console experience so Diablo III may even be available on Xbox 360 or PS3.

If you enjoyed Diablo II, you must get this expansion pack. It adds so much to the game that the original seems oddly incomplete without it. Some expansion packs are merely a few more levels, but this adds levels, characters, items, etc. The original five have been accused of being fantasy staples, but the new characters allow for all sorts of new possibilities.I've given both Diablo II and LOD 4-stars because they can get samey after a while, but even so an excellent game that I keep coming back to over 3 years since I bought it.
